It was a beautiful day, the river floated us alongside lovely trees and interesting rock formations, past some swifter waters, many channels, but nothing hair-raising, which was just right for us. Greg is knowledgeable and gave us an interesting picture of the river as a changing living things, which he knows as hunter, fishing guide and raft captain. He loves the river and had lots of good stories and was happy to stay quiet when we just wanted to listen. We didn't get wet, but we did wish we had worn our long underwear and had brought some extra layers as the wind on the river was strong in places. We look forward to another float int he future.

We met him before dawn around 3am and followed him to the spot where we loaded ourselves into the raft in pitch black darkness (this is an ultimate trust factor here mind you) into the river before the sun came up. Shane oared us himself through the river minus the areas with rapids where we just floated through and took us along all the special spots. Bait and fishing lines are all prepared by Shane ahead of time which made the process effortless and carefree. I caught a small Chinook this day with a spinner at the very end of our trip. Trip ended around noon. We went home with our heart cups filled with adventure. Definitely WORTH IT! Will post up some pics later.

We quickly get on the road which proceeded to get really curvy and hilly. I slowed down because I was unfamiliar with the roads and slightly tired. I noticed him pull in ahead of me and I think to myself that was nice of him to let us catch up. He steps out of the truck and come over to the driver side we're my done is and asks me if I am up for the trip. I said what are you talking about. He said clearly I am not up for it. If you are looking for a fishing guide for steelhead in the rivers around Forks, WA, we highly recommend Lost Forest Fishing. Personally, I had not fished at all in several years and initially booked the trip just for my husband, who is an avid fly fisherman. I went along for the boat ride the first day just to enjoy the scenery and Mike encouraged me to give the fishing a try the next day. By the end of the week, Mike had taught me the basics of a single spey cast AND I brought my first ever wild steelhead to net while nymphing from the boat. My husband, the experienced fisherman, also had a very successful four days fishing and greatly appreciated Mike's instruction and knowledge of the rivers. We definitely plan to make a return trip to Forks next winter and look forward to more fishing with Lost Forest Fishing. Mike also guides in the Jackson Hole area during the summer season and we hope to make a trip down there sometime this year or next to fish with Mike.

The water and the scenery were absolutely beautiful, but your feet do get wet so I recommend bringing water shoes. When you get in the boat initially you do have to wade into the water, so water shoes and rolled up pants definitely make the rest of the ride more enjoyable. Would definitely go again!

She took us to a tucked away swimming hole with a waterfall to play in. We saw three herds of cow elk, and acutally had to pull off to a beach to let them wade across in front of us. The river and weather were beautiful with a perfect blue sky to top it off. After the run, we stopped at her cafe up the street for dinner, which was also great. Not only was to tour and food wonderful, the staff were all very accomodating. The best customer service, which suites the small town:) We missed our initial kayak time because of road construction on our way from the Hoh campground. No big deal, they said, because they were able to put us on the afternoon tour instead. After the ride, it was getting close to the grill at the cafe to close. So, they called the cook to let us know we were on our way, and they stayed open a bit longer so we could have a hot meal. Next time, we plan to do the lower half of the river. And, hopefully, get in on the day run because there is usually more wildlife at that time.

We went on a Saturday, when everyone and their mother was headed to the river. I watched out the window as Terry drove past parking lots full of other guides, then past a popular stretch of river saturated with walk-in anglers, before dropping us into one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, and NO ONE ELSE was in sight ALL DAY! It was just a bonus that we hit it on a good day and managed to land almost every species of fish on the river!!! We have fished several of the coastal rivers over the years as well as Lewis, Cowlitz, and Columbia rivers. Bob and Tracy run a great operation and he has to be the hardest working guide out there. I love that he is willing to help other anglers too. He is very unselfish with gear and advice. If you get a chance to fish with Bob, Bill, or Ryan you are in for some of the best fishing anywhere in the world.
