Wild Hog with no bun n fries.

Still only place in Topeka to get hot links . The pulled pork is good and flavorful as are the hot links. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nostalgic is the decor here and is always fun to look at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff is friendly and pleasant in my eyes.

A nice plate of food for $14. Curly fries and potato salad were both good. Coke products and tea. But ends were pretty good, some more tender than others. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small dinning room with limited parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I came here about 1pm because the reviews i read at supper time is not as good.. and i can understand why when they close at 8pm you don't get the fresh bbq but rather the bbq that was on warmers.. i order the 3 meat meal, ribs, pulled pork and hot links.. The sides i got were mac&chess and coleslaw. The sides were ok, nothing great but was good.. the ribs and pulled was good.. the hot links.. well i have to explain what i like in spicy.. i like things spicy were i can eat as much as i want without drinking a gallon of milk to cool the spice.. the hot links was right to my point.. any spicer i would have not like it as much.. i would say this is the spiciest hot links that i have eaten. I rate this 4 stars.. 5 stars is a place you have to goto.. 3 stars is the food was just ok.. i would say if yiu like bbq this place is good but not the best but better than most.

Hog Wild is my go to bbq here in town as we really don't have many bbq restaurants. They always seem busy, Service is friendly and food is delicious. I like that they have a small sandwich combo meal for under $8 it's just enough for me and I sometimes order a single rib because they are delicious. I normally go to the drive thru and have had any issues with my meal. All of their sides are great as well!

Ordered the food delivery tonight. This Wes some excellent BBQ. The pulled pork was fantastic, excellent flavor and texture. And the ribs were outstanding. Four bones of extra meaty ribs was exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately the sides were a touch lackluster. Not a lot of flavor to the mac and cheese and the cobbler had only tiny pieces of crust. However, the cherry filling was outstanding. I would order again, but I think I would go directly to the restaurant.

Food: Turkey was dry, overcooked, and mostly dark meat which is not what I ordered. Service: definitely friendly but a fast food vibe. As a Yelp elite I am just here for the opinion

1 meat plate (brisket) with mashed potatoes and a side salad
    Stephanie B.

Pretty delicious to be honest. We both got the brisket. The 1 meat plate was really big enough for both of us to share but we took home leftovers for Brisket Nachos for lunch the next day. Sides were good. Watermelon tea was a new one for me and quite tasty too. Looked like it was a locals favorite.

We liked it. Had the ribs and bbq pulled pork. Seemed to be the only decent bbq place open on Monday.

The restaurant is located at the top of a narrow staircase (there may be an elevator but we didn't see one). You place your order at a walk-up counter. The gentleman who took our order was very friendly and helped us decipher the menu. We both ordered the brisket sandwich. My husband got a platter with the beans and cheesy potatoes. I got the smaller plate with potato salad. The brisket was "shredded" which is not how I am used to on a BBQ brisket sandwich. It was really dry and honestly didn't have much of a smoked flavor. I put sauce on it, but didn't really care for the taste of that either. I would describe it as sweet Heinz 57 sauce. The potato salad was nothing exceptional but tasted fine. Same with my husband's cheesy potatoes. However the BBQ beans were exceptional! Probably some of the best I have ever had. They were rich and sweet with chunks of meat. I wish I had ordered a plate of those! Overall, I wouldn't really recommend Black Dog Bar B Que. But if you go, be sure you order the beans!

The taproom was lively and a bit chaotic. I was completely caught off guard by the night's entertainment. Line dancing. Yes. I have never seen so many short skirts and cowboy boots in one place. I spent the evening focused on my beer and my laptop to avoid a pretty blonde confronting me for staring. With that said, it was a cheerful kind of energy and everyone was having a grand time. The crowd was upbeat, the music was loud and cheery and was able to soak in the atmosphere and write a few Yelp reviews. And after two tasty brews, I headed back out to the campervan where I ended up undisturbed with a restful night. You can't hear the inside outside and that's a good thing. I arrived at 1:00 PM, which I learned is too late to get ribs or brisket, since the locals buy all of it for lunch. Also out chicken breasts. I didn't want pulled pork, so I had a dry chicken thigh and a juicy beef link, which was clearly the highlight of the meal. The sides could have used seasoning and the gumbo was too watery. The person taking orders should do a better job guiding people through the confusing ordering process. Repeating the statement, "If it has a green tag next to it, that means we are out of it" seemed to become a little rude. I watched an older guy spend 10 minutes trying to figure out what he could order. Two other customers walked out. All I could do was laugh at the comedy skit between the customer and the owner. Also, if the order allows two sides, why can't both of them be yams? There seemed to be a policy against getting two of the same side even when the order comes with two sides. Although not a big deal, but I smelled like a BBQ pit when I left. Felt unsatisfied, I so I went to a small chain BBQ place to get ribs and brisket. The lesson is to get there early for ribs and brisket.
