The Heaven in the name fits to a T! This is hands down the best place to eat in Laurel, MS. Shoot it's the best place to eat in the United States of America!! I don't know what they got going on with that smoking process but good golly gosh they got it down to a science. I stay eating good when I be up in here. I usually gotta wear some sweatpants cuz my gut be 9 months pregnant when I walk out. Regardless of how you doing on yo diet, you gotta get yer ass in here and grab a bite to eat. This place is legit! I am in town for work and not usually a fan of BBQ but coworkers wanted to try it and I agreed. Sooooo glad we came, it's that good....had to come back for a second try and can't wait to come to town again, this is my new favorite place in the country. Pulled pork= wow, moist with those chewy crusty bits throughout, pure heaven The sauce= O.M.G. Cole slaw=awesome Corn nuggets=where have you been my whole life? Servers=very friendly, efficient and appreciated, made me feel welcome and like family. Ambience: love the space, felt like home eating with friends and family. Sometimes you can get good 'cue in a gas station. This place isn't one of them. The agglomeration of gristle and fat encased in a soup of syrupy sweet ketchup sauce that this establishment calls BBQ was inedible. I threw my BBQ sandwich away after one bite. read more

Hog Heaven is that indeed but on this day a serendipitous Blue Plate caught my eye--Beef Ribs for $8. These two tender, hickory-smoked seasoned chine-ends were trimmed but not scalped with plenty of meat on the bone. They also were properly aged with the hint of savory funk that Texans know and love. And while they were not cured in the Czech post oak/mesquite brick pits of my foresaid childhood state, they were adequately prepared in a modern competition smoker; albeit just under done to my taste (another couple hours would have had the meat falling off the bone--they had a slight resistance at the pull). But again, for the price it was an unbelievable find. Beef ribs now days are just not readily available. I was very grateful for the care and skill the pit master took in preparing them. The smoke was the featured seasoning meaning they were not over peppered or salted. They were served appropriately dry with a familiar tasting accompanying sauce. I believe it to have been Kraft original smokehouse doctored to a balanced sweet and tangy. It worked beautifully. So did the sweet molasses baked beans, I presume something like Bush's small navy, that was accented by the best regional sausage in the area--Country Pleasin' from south of Jackson. That is quality folks. And you can get it on your plate as well. The mustard style potato salad was creamy and excellent. Plain, un-grilled Texas toast served on the side was there to soak up the rich beef fat inside your belly. These folks know what they are doing. And don't forget the napkins a plenty at the table next to the premium condiments. But the real lagniappe was a hand sink near the tables to wash up with. Locals know this place is on Highway 11 at the Shell station by the I-59 just outside of Laurel. You can't miss the billboard heading south and you shouldn't pass it up on your travels. It is worth every minute of a stop. The service is friendly, very fast, and when traveling you can sit in or be back on the road in literally less than 10 minutes from turning in. The menu is extensive and the folks just keep filing in--find out why. I'm glad I did. And I'm glad I live close by. read more

It only doesn't get five stars, because it's hard to find a place to sit down, and they're so busy it's hard to keep the three or four booth is clean. There's always a line of people, but the barbecue is some - if not the best I've had, from around the country. It is built into the side of a gas station so don't be alarmed! It is well worth the two minute stop off of the interstate. read more

I have yet to have a negative and/or questionable experience with the quality of their product - brisket, chicken, ribs, slaw, baked beans, etc... I did call in a catering order for 12 people early morning; establishing 11:30 am as my pick-up time. The dining room was packed and a steady flow of to-go orders were being placed when I arrived. I was finally able to drive away with my order at 12:10 pm (40minutes late) which cut into the amount of time I had with my customers over lunch. No apologies, no "Thank You" - nothing. I believe in being fair with my assessments, as I cater lunches to customers 1-2 times weekly; and have for the past 20 years. You are likely to enjoy your dining experience if eating in or grabbing a small order to take with you. I don't think I'll be utilizing them for any additional catering needs in the future. read more

In my opinion, this is the best BBQ in the pine belt area. I've been to Leatha's, Rose's, Murkey Water, etc, and this place beats them all. My family and I will go at least once if not twice a week to eat here. They have big portions which I like. Their brisket is consistently great. Their pork is good too. Their drummettes were good when I got them. I'll definitely have them again once I get tired of the brisket. There is not a bad side item here either. Their sauce has some seasoning to it and it has a good flavor. However, this place would get 5 stars if they could fix one flaw I see in their system. Something like this happens every time we come here, but today was enough where I need to say something. So when we come in, we order in the front. The cashier asks us what we want to drink and what size with our order and puts it on our receipt. We bring a copy of the receipt for the waitress to see what to get us. The problem with that was the cashier put down a coke instead of a diet coke (Communication breakdown #1). We told the waitress it was typed down wrong and she said she would get a diet Coke for us. Turns out she can only 2 drinks at a time. She brought my sweet tea, but she messed up and brought my mom a coke instead of the diet Coke like she said she would bring (Communication breakdown #2). She goes to change it and brings a diet Coke and my sister's water. So again, she can only bring 2 drinks at one time. She brought mine the first go. And the 2nd time she brought the diet Coke and the water. That still leaves out my dad waiting for his unsweet tea. She comes back with his unsweet tea in the wrong size cup when clearly we all ordered large drinks (Communication breakdown #3). At this point we got pretty annoyed. She finally just left that drink and gave him another one. That's 4 separate trips to our table all for only 4 drinks. That's pretty silly if you ask me. The reason I see this being a problem is because there is an easy solution to this. Let the cashier ring up the drink sizes and prices and the waitress ask what we want to drink. Again, such an easy fix. I say a lot about this, but the food is so good that we pretty much forgot about this. Hopefully I can bring attention to this so the system here can be improved upon because this is one of my favorite spots to come to. We'll be back next week probably! read more

This is an awesome place to eat. They now have a new location....lots of seating...even outside seating...and they have a drive thru. I always get the rib plate because I love ribs!!! If you haven't tried Hog Heaven, then you're missing out. This is not just a bbq place. They have salads, burgers, and other things so that the entire family can choose something they like. read more
