I am exercutor of an estate. Deceased had Hocon gas. Requested propane tanks and a refund for unused gas. It's 4/22 and tanks finally removed by cannot get my money. Giving no stars but that was not an option. Our propane tank is nearly empty as Hocon has not delivered to us in six weeks. Temperatures are dangerous low and will get worse tomorrow. While other companies are making deliveries today, Hocon has closed and is unresponsive during one of the worst storms in a decade. I have phoned and emailed requesting a delivery. This is not the first time this has happened. I pray that we will get a delivery before we lose our heat. read more

They are currently charging customers $5.37 a gallon, and I was able to get two competing quotes for $3.08 and $3.17. I cannot believe how badly I've been getting taken advantage of. My latest till up was over $1,000. I got a quote for $575 at that number of gallons. I'm feeling taken advantage of, so let my expensive lesson be a cheap one for you. Go anywhere else. read more

We bought a house in June which had a Rented Hocon propane tank hooked up. Hocon never tryed to contact us to see if we would like continue the existing rental contract but instead came by when no one was home and Pulled the tank out without permission or notice!!! Who does business like that???? We were left with no gas for a day until my furnace guy came to the rescue. read more

Took months to get done, then it failed inspection took another month to fix and finally inspected and installed but technicians given wrong remote. After 20 calls reached out to area manager. Hocon Gas is an awful company. They bought our former oil services company over 5 years ago. Between the 2 companies we have been loyal customers and always paid on time. We just arrived home in winter to find we had no heat. Lo and behold - our bill was 2 days late so they did not deliver our oil and also DID NOT NOTIFY US of this issue which could have been immediately solved. Apparently this is how they operate and we are one of a few oil customers left. Utterly disgraceful - the owners father would be ashamed that the company he built is treating customers with disdain under the leadership of his son. Terrible Company. I called to set up an appointment to service my gas fireplace. They said the first available appointment was over a month out. I said no thank you. They called me back and said the can get me in on Dec. 19th but couldn't give me a time window because they were squeezing me in. I was so appreciative and I cancelled all my other appointments for this. I called the morning of the appointment to confirm, they said "all set we will call you before we come out there". We'll give you call 1/2 before we show. I waited all day and called back at 4pm. They said they needed to cancel the appointment and they called my cell. I don't have a text, email, phone call, voicemail or a log of the call on my phone. I waited all day for nothing. Now the new appointment is a month after today's date. Awful. read more

Negative stars, if I could. Hocon has annually filled my pool tank in late September after numerous requests not to do so when the pool has been closed. Toni has called my home and harassed me for payment when I explained that I did not request a tank refill after the pool closing. She was stern. WORST BILLING DEPARTMENT EVER! STAY AWAY FROM HOCON!! They billed my elderly mother for $250 to inspect a gas line between her tank and hr generator after they told me the inspection was free. I had to call and argue and write a letter to get the charge reversed. Now they are trying to charge her $186 for equipment rental when there is no equipment rental! This is an update from my earlier review dated June 25, 2021. Sales Manager Jalin reached out to us regarding our on-going problems. At that point, Jalin handled our account which resulted in a vast improvement in service. He placed the order for our 2 gas log sets and everything was delivered and installed on schedule. The workers were A+ with their professionalism. Our town required 2 inspections by the Building Department and HOCON passed both. We're very happy with the service rendered by Jalin and his staff. Highly recommend Jalin to get the job done!!!!! read more

Avoid these idiots at all cost. Their clerical department is non-existent. Clear lack of communication and organization. They incorrectly set-up my account which was supposed to be auto-fill, instead, Hocon had me down as call on delivery. My landlord recommended this company before moving in. Upon returning from vacation I entered my house to find 5 separate pipes burst as a result of freezing, because Hocon never filled the tank and the entire house ran dry on oil. Hocon eventually agreed to pay the $1200 in plumbing repairs I had to call for after hours, however, Hocon ended up just crediting my oil account. After trying to change this and getting no response, I decided to just deal with it. I then got billed from Hocon two weeks later after they filled the tank again, a week later after they had already filled it. I then called to find out why I wasn't credited, was told the credit would be processed today and I would be refunded for the latest delivery. Instead, they just refunded me the exact amount of the plumbing bill I had originally requested, and never processed the refund. The staff is nice and wants to help you, yet there is such little organization and lack of common sense among their staff that I can't recommend them in the slightest. They have no idea what they're doing and shouldn't be in business. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! read more

They regularly price gouge. Charge 6X over going rates. I had a service contract and their technician did not understand any of our equipment and had to call the office to be talked through how to fix a simple fireplace. I have had to call over and over and send written requests to have our propane tanks filled this winter - even when these tanks only have 5% left in them - and I am supposed to be on 'auto-refill'. I cancelled the service contract with them but they continue to bill me for it. They have the worst customer service I have ever encountered and they seem to be very, very poorly run so I am going to switch companies even though there is great hassle in having them come and remove tanks. This is the worst service I have ever seen. I have told them at least 20 they need to deliver every 2 weeks, it has been 7 weeks since the last delivery my 90 mother is out of oil and freezing. We have made 6 calls since 8 am, it's now past noon and NO ONE has called back!! This is about the 5th time she has run out of oil. The worst most incompetent and rude people I have ever worked with. We bought a house and the owners before us barely used gas but used this company so we decided it would be easier to continue to work with them, horrible mistake. They took over a month to come out and even turn our gas on. We then decided to convert our house from oil heating to gas so we needed them to come over to see what additional gas tanks we would need. It took me over two weeks to reach Karen and actually book an appointment and then she said she would follow up with an email with the pricing and I have yet to receive that. Whenever you call they make it seem as though you are a hassle and not a paying customer. I'm now trying to cancel my contract and they're trying to charge me for their lack of customer service and incompetence. read more

I've been a customer for over 10 years. I have my bank auto pay each month. Apparently a check for 300 dollars was sent by my bank, but never cashed by Hocon so 2 months later I was referred to a collection agency even though each month after this missing check, they cashed my payments. Ok mistakes happen. But after receiving the debt collection letter, I called Hocon to resolve this, and after 3 days and lots of bank documents, Hocon still does not believe this loyal customer. Problem still unresolved and I'm still in debt collection. I'd call this a business that doesn't think about its customers. And when you're talking about home heating, that could get rough. After this is resolved, I'll look around for a better company that values loyalty and a customer service ethic with the ability to research and solve billing issues, not just deny the customer until they are blue in the face while threatening them with no future deliveries. The General Manager Connie just called and couldn't have been nicer. Apologized, promised to make things right. If you are thinking of using this company, Connie is a good, professional with whom to deal. read more

I'd do ZERO stars but yelp doesn't let you. Worst company, took a couple months to get first fill, endless problems after that. Within 1 year 2 no heats due to no fill even being on auto fill, improper maintenance causes blockages, 5-8 house calls, unauthorized fills. Oil spill in my driveway with DEEP case filed. Last interaction with Hocon was yesterday when calling to get credit for unauthorized fill and they said they would credit my account and they also said they would be cancelling my account!!!. All these negative reviews on Yelp speak for themselves. Nothing but headaches with this company. read more

I just reviewed my bill and they charge me $6.33 a gallon for gas. Someone told me their gas company charges a little over two dollars a gallon. I called HOCON asked them about the 6.33 I didn't say anything about the two dollars. I asked if that's the correct price she said no I'll change it to 4.50. No explanation just did it. This is a crooked company. I am thinking of reaching out to local government officials and also to local news organizations to expose these people and put them out of business. read more

It's funny sometimes you have to call customer service several times to get a competitive market price from Hocon, but alas I did because I got through to Connie the manager! She was awesome and gave me a significantly lower price (60% less) than I had been quoted by three other representatives on the phone. I was ready to give up on Hocon, and have them remove the tanks because once you are renting the tanks from them, other suppliers will not fill them so you are beholden to the Company that places the tanks on your property. So that final call to Hocon, when I reached Connie, who is not only accommodating on the price but extremely friendly and has great follow through (sent an immediate delivery) at the significantly lower price. I highly recommend you call Hocon and ask for Connie to skip the defeating experiences that I initially had. read more

My builder bought our tank from Hocon and our first fill, so we continued to use the company for several months despite warnings from our neighbors. In the end, the company failed over and again to keep its promises on the price of fuel. They said they don't do contracts but would pledge a price and then charge us significantly more upon delivery. An agent told me, "We can change the price, but only if you call us AFTER we deliver." Such an odd way to do business, and we never really knew what we'd be paying. So, we chose another company after more than a year. Then, Hocon harassed us because they claimed they owned our tank and said we were mandated to purchase propane from them. We had to jump through hoops to prove that they had sold us the tank. A year later, they called to say they put a lien on our property (not true) because we chose another propane company. For the record, we have not only a receipt for our tank but an email from one of their employees confirming our tank ownership. I can't say if this company has deceptive business practices or poor recordkeeping. Regardless, steer clear of them. read more

Horrible customer service and service team. Recently moved to Westport and changed from Hocon to Gault for propane service. The Hocon tanks have been sitting at the end of my driveway for over a month and after 20+ calls to the company they continue to claim they will come to pick them up...eventually. First and foremost I would strongly discourage anyone using Hocon Gas. Initially I was given a great rate to sign on, then when the contract was up I was overcharge what the market rate was going for. It took several calls to ask about adjusting my rate to the current market price. I finally told them that I was disappointed in how they treat their customers and that I was searching for a new company to purchase my propane. When I did find a new provider and I called Hocon to inform them that I was switching to Mitchell Fuel, that is when I found out that they lowered my rate, no one called to tell me. Hocon also proceeded to fill both my tanks with propane fuel, making it full when it was finally disconnected. When Mitchell Fuel came out to disconnect Hocon's tanks and replace them with their tanks, I was informed that Hocon was in violation and did not properly install the tanks to code however Hocon says that it was signed off by the town inspector. Mitchell would only install the tanks in a safe location, so I moved them to the spot they recommended. Both myself and Mitchell informed Hocon that their tanks were disconnected, sitting on my property and that they needed to pick their tanks up. Five weeks later it was picked up. It took several phone calls into Hocon and a call from the town's Fire Department saying it was a hazard having full tanks sitting on the property. When I asked how long will it be before I received my money back (roughly $500) for the propane that was in the tanks they said 2 weeks or next billing cycle. It was 4 weeks when I finally called back. They said they had mailed it out the week before and yet I did not receive a check at all. They had to stop the current check and send a new one out the following week. This is a terrible company, terrible upper management and customer service. Had a propane tank from them just for my oven and stove, and boy oh boy what a rip off. after finally realizing how bad they were overcharging me I ended my service and it still took them 5 months to come get their tank back. I am still waiting to get my refund from them for the propane in the tank. do yourself a favor and go with a good honest company like sippin or gault! read more
