The boba here was good and sweet - just the way I like it! They definitely hook up the boba and tea. I got the boba milk tea which was okay. It wasn't as sweet as I wanted it to be and tasted a little watered down since they put too much ice. Next time I'm definitely trying the boba tea with sea salt foam on top. Only reason for not giving them 5 stars is because I didn't see that many options for "milk tea." I love jasmine green milk tea and did not see it on the menu read more

I have never reviewed a place on Yelp - I never cared enough. After living in Goleta for 6 years, I'm legit happy that we finally have a legit tea place. From the first sip I was surprised - the tea in the milk tea comes loud and clear and the sweetness was not overpowering at 100% sweetness. Is it the best tea I've ever had? No - but it is legit, and I'm happy with its quality. They care about tea, and it shows in the drink. If you like milk tea please give this place some love - I've seen so many businesses come and go but this is a place I'd like to stick around for years to come - it's why it's my first Yelp review. read more

Best boba in Goleta/SB at the moment! The mango pomelo sago is great but was unavailable a few times I've gone. My next choice would be the pudding latte! I tried ordering online before, only to discover my item was unavailable when I came for pick up. Maybe calling in your order would be better. read more

Walked in and I greeted them, they instantly directed me to the screen so i could order there. Then I asked for a cup of water and they denied me in a snarky tone, "we don't give out water". I thought their attitude and customer service was mediocre and unwelcoming. Boba was ok. read more

The best boba in town for me , original boba is the best , its my go to drink , thai milk tea is fine but its too sweet to me even i low 70% sugar already. read more

Hochaya, you 100% won SB county. So refreshing to finally have a reliable boba milk tea spot with an extensive menu in town! Both milk teas and fruit teas are fresh and they don't have an artificial aftertaste. The best part - the quick turn around and very informative staff. Despite the crowd we got our drinks FAST. I LOVED my pudding latte. They're efficient without sacrificing quality! This is now my go-to for boba MT's. I look forward to coming back to try their cheese foam drinks. Should we be anticipating an addition of food to their menu? I'm more than excited for this new business. P.S. Check out my photos - and yes, the drinks taste as good as they look! read more

My family and I stopped at this place since we were close by. I usually don't write reviews but this place really disappointed us. All of our drinks tasted like they were 5% tea and 95% water. It's supposed to be a boba TEA shop. Seems like most of the good reviews helping their rating are old ones. Will stick with our regular boba shop from now on unless they really change up their recipe... read more

This place is super cute and new from what I can see! Definitely very clean (I appreciate it) and the workers are very sweet and they're also bilingual which is nice to see :) The boba is very chewy and soft and I got the osthmanthus oolong milk tea w/ less ice, boba, and 0% sugar and it was still fairly sweet (not too sweet though; thank you to the barista for her recommendation)! It is a bit on the pricier side as my drink was about $7, but definitely worth a try! read more

Hochaya - Bubble Tea Near Me - Goleta, California

When I heard a new boba place was opening in Goleta, my boyfriend and I were really excited. We are from LA, and there aren't many great boba places around here. Hochaya's interior is really clean and nice; I love their menu, their tall tables, their tall ceiling, and the overall atmosphere. From what I saw, drinks range from $4.99 - $5.49, and toppings are 50¢ each (pretty average in my opinion). I liked my Mountain Tea, and I would love to try one of their Yakut drinks or Sea Cream drinks next time. The customer service was great! Our cashier was so friendly, and our drinks took some time but it was really busy so we did not mind waiting at all since it is totally understandable. Anyway, anything is better than going to Thresh Teas which serves moldy green teas and moldy fruit, so I'm excited to go somewhere that seems fresh and clean. read more

Ordered a jasmine milk tea with boba and it was good. I appreciate that you can choose the % of sugar and ice you want. They are firm on no brown sugar boba until 4pm. I was hoping since it was 3:40pm that they would accommodate, but it was a NO. I didn't want to wait. They don't carry Earl Grey! FYI read more

Really enjoying the options of different teas they have here. Had fruit teas and sugar ones. Prefer the refreshing tastes of the different fruit teas. read more

Hochaya - Grapefruit Lemon Green Tea - Bubble Tea Near Me - Goleta, California

Today I walked into this establishment with high expectations for a tasty delicious boba...I ordered the Boba Milk Tea with 50 % ice, 70 % Sugar; but in all honestly it was more like 10 % ice, 10 % sugar and 100 % water. This Boba Milk Tea should be re-named Boba H2O Tea. Listen, if you've ever gotten Boba in SF or San Jose area you know what real boba should taste like. And this is coming from a SB Local. I've been places and I can tell you from experience that this boba is not worth the hype. To the owner of this establishment, if you're going to acting like Mr.Krabs, acting hella cheap, watering down drinks and overall the quality of what REAL BOBA should taste like please stop with the disgrace of our boba culture. I recommend people not waste their hard working money on this place, ruined my Friday night with the fam. HOCHAYA BE FLIPPIN FOR REAL with your prices and quality of drinks and service. I will never come back nor recommend to anyone. read more

Great Boba Tea Good location, clean store and friendly people works there, Must try something else for the next visit :) We don't need to drive all the way to LA for Boba Tea anymore read more

I go here frequently as it is one the few boba places in Santa Barbara. My usual order is either the passionfruit green tea with boba, the boba milk tea, or the mango pomelo sago with boba. I usually order at 70%-50% sugar since I find this place to be on the sweeter side, 100% would be way too much. The boba is pretty good here compared to whats offered locally, but it is a tad pricier. I'm not sure but i think their boba changed since opening because their pearls reminded me of Yi Fang but now their rounder and bigger, not a bad thing but I did prefer them to how they were before. read more

Tried out this place when I drove from LA to Santa Barbara. Drinks aren't too sweet, which is good and I liked my drink. It's the better boba place in the area, but overall, it's pretty mediocre. Their brown Sugar Boba won't be available until after 4pm and they have some indoor seatings if you're hanging out with friends. read more

I really like this place. It reminds me of boba places in the South Bay and OC areas. It's also a nice spot for studying and the drinks are good. The only inconsistent things are their boba and customer service. I still think this place is worth trying if you're in the area! read more

Hochaya - Oolong Milk Tea w/ boba - Bubble Tea Near Me - Goleta, California

This new boba shop has saved Santa Barbara!! Since moving here from LA, I haven't found a store that I've particularly enjoyed.. but Hochaya completely changed that for me. We tried the Brown Sugar Boba Milk and the Sesame Cream Foam Green Tea- both that I highly recommend. My favorite, however, would be the Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea! The flavors complimented each other so well together, so you definitely need to try during your next visit. - side note: I would also recommend lowering the sugar level if you don't have a huge sweet tooth. read more

Clean little boba shop with a good assortment of drinks and tea blends. Very room and drinks were made to order in a quick manner!

Watch out for ordering oolong tea jelly with MILK. It has milk !!! lmao for real though this place is the most authentic boba in S.B. Period keep up the great work:) read more

Cute boba shop! Love the gray textured wall and wooden slats on the front counter. I had the taro milk boba and it was really yummy. They use taro paste which I loved! But I realize would be surprising if you weren't expecting it haha. My husband had the mango smoothie with sago and he loved how refreshing it was. I need to come back to try the brown sugar boba! read more

Great customer service, great menu options, awesome flavor and a really cool vibe to the shop all around! Will definitely be back.

We stopped in for a boba and tea fix. This is one of the only locations in the area to do that. The staff was professional, but did not give a happy, welcoming vibe. They were out of several things when we were there and when we tried to customize two of the teas, we were told they couldn't do that. The boba was not soft and chewy. It was hard and completely tasteless. Two members of our group live in an area where there is practically a boba shop on every corner and they both said that this was the worst boba they'd ever had. We all did our best to drink our tea without getting any boba in the straw and then tossed the cups of boba out when we were done. read more

I have had the mango sago which is good, but oh my..... I wanted to try something different and I thought who could go wrong with a taro but...... I literally threw up and had to throw away this TARO drink....Definitely the worst place to get the taro boba" from. Look the image and you will know. read more

Hochaya - Where is taro and the color???? - Bubble Tea Near Me - Goleta, California

The service is terrible. We ordered a drink and it wasn't what we expected. Instead of remaking it, they kept escalating it and finally told us that bc on the menu it says that it's milk tea it doesn't matter that we asked for no milk, we would still have to pay extra for them to make another version. A place with good customer service would have seen that it was a misunderstanding and would have offered to remake a different one. There are plenty of delicious boba places around, no need to settle for one with bad service and attitude read more

Very rude service and we almost got no boba even after asking for extra. We didn't appreciate our trip at all. They also didn't call our order out read more

Thai tea was sadly very disappointing. For a good authentic Thai tea go to Noodle city in Old Town

Delicious milk tea drinks. I go here after class at ucsb all the time. They have a lot of options and are fast with their orders. 10/10 would recommend! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. SERIOUSLY. This place has the worst boba i have ever had. The first red flag should have been that they didnt have brown sugar boba available until after 4 P.M. I ordered the Thai Tea with boba. It was worst thing i have ever had in my mouth. It tasted burnt. and like the employees blended up wood chips into my drink. They have a "no returns or exchange" policy, so i could not even rectify this attack on my taste buds. Safe to say i to say i will NOT be returning, and i advise you don't either. If i could, i would give ZERO stars. read more

I got the brown sugar boba and it was delicious! Service was great too. Hands down the best boba spot in town!

I am so thrilled that we have a tea place of this quality in our area. I am not an expert with all of these drinks but I can say that everything I have ordered here has been excellent. The staff are so helpful and continually make recommendations for me to try something new. Excellent product and service. Thank you for bringing me a new experience. read more

Service was rude and difficult to communicate with which is a shame since some of their drinks were good. On one of my drinks, I asked for 70% sugar on my Passion Fruit Yakut but it was wayyyy too sweet and I asked if they could fix it for me but the girl refused to and she would just walk away whenever I tried to talk to her. read more

got a brown sugar thai tea and brown sugar oolong latte, and they were definitively the worst boba drinks i've ever gotten. the drinks were completely not sweet and tasted like water. only the pearls themselves were decent at best. the thai tea has no thai tea flavor whatsoever, which is weird considering the fact that thai tea is super strong. it just tasted like slightly sweet milk with a weird aftertaste. the oolong tasted like watery milk. i'm convinced there's no tea or sugar in it. i'm genuinely shaken after drinking that, and i promise i'm no boba connoisseur. i swear i am not over exaggerating. try these drinks at your own risk, but i definitely do not recommend. read more

I don't know why this place has such high ratings. I've tried it twice to give it a fair shot. The first time I got the Black Sesame Cream Milk Tea Boba and it was just... average. I do like the texture and size of the tapioca pearls, but they taste so plain. The black sesame cream was the best part of the drink. I also ordered with 100% sugar and it tasted like 50%. The next time I ordered the brown sugar matcha boba in hopes that the boba would be sweeter, and it was, but it didn't taste that good to me. The matcha was pretty decent though. Definitely not comparable to any LA boba shop. To be honest, Phresh Teas and Mojo's beat Hochaya any day. Maybe I'll go again and try the fruit teas or the pudding tea? read more

I'm obsessed with the cheese foam, and the tea and boba are amazing quality, this is definitely my favorite boba spot in SB!!

My boyfriend and I just had a pretty ridiculous experience. There was a bit of a miscommunication with the person at the front desk and they didn't put any boba in his drink. He waited in line again to ask them to fix it and they were very unwilling to make things right guess we won't be coming here any time soon! read more

I am visiting from out of town and was looking for a boba tea and came across this one close to my hotel. It is located in a nice shopping center area and looks pretty new. The inside was clean with high top tables. They also had outdoor seating with umbrellas. The gals at the counter said I had to use the kiosk table for credit card orders so I did. The tablet was very easy to use and had all the options for ordering and paying. The gal behind the counter placed my drink on the counter when it was ready. My drink was made exactly how I ordered it. I ordered the Thai Milk Tea with boba, 50% ice and 30% sugar. The boba was very soft, almost soggy and not to my liking. The Thai milk tea tasted odd compared to what I am used to so maybe it was just a different kind of tea. Anyway it was not what I personally like. I was also disappointed that there was really no interaction with the people that work there because every thing was done by computer. So not very friendly. I prefer contact with humans! Just sayin'. read more

Best tea ever!!! Great service. Yummy tea. Will come back every chance i get. Lychee tea was amazing.

The boba here is so good it could actually compete with some of my favorites in the bay. Tried the matcha latte and the brown sugar matcha drink, both were great. The boba balls are DELICIOUS (I think they put honey on them? They're really tasty and perfect texture). Only downside is it's expensive AF, but given the quality of the other boba shops around ucsb, I'd say it's worth every penny. read more
