We did the 3:00 PM tour at Hochatown Distilling and it was well worth the $25 per person. Right off the bat, they gave us a discount code (I believe it was 10%), which was a nice touch and appreciated. The tour itself was very entertaining and well run. They walked us through the entire distilling process, took us into the rack house, and then wrapped things up in the tasting room. It was informative without being dry, which isn't always easy to pull off. We sampled around six different products during the tasting, and every one of them was solid. The guide absolutely made the experience. He was knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely engaging. You could tell he enjoyed what he does, and that goes a long way. I enjoyed it enough that I bought a bottle to bring home, especially since their products aren't sold in Louisiana. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. If you're in Hochatown, this tour is worth your time and money. read more

Came here for a bachelor party and it was hands down the best distillery tour I've ever been on - and I've done about 15 tours on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, so that's saying something. I'm not much of a drinker of any sort, especially not whiskey, but The tour guide was very knowledgeable, inviting, and a great storyteller. I did participate in the tasting and while I won't be sipping whiskey on the regular, this was a fun experience I would do again. read more

We have traveled the world doing tours. We were in town on wet days, so we did the tour. It costs roughly $43 for two. You go into the area where they make the spirits and then they show you the barrel barn. Then, you go to a tasting room to sample the spirits. The bottles cost over $60, and the samples were okay. I did not enjoy the tour guy. I do not like it when people criticize law enforcement. He spent a lot of time criticizing the ABEL Commission. It isn't a good look. Additionally, the guide said he doesn't like to talk politics, but his politics are sprinkled in his language, and in the tasting room, there is a life-size cut out of a political figure. Then he brags about getting a huge government grant to get more equipment. None of this is necessary. The guide is a showman but can insult you in the same breath. I would not return. read more

This was my first tour of a distillery. When they say small batch, they're not kidding. It's a small distillery. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and quite funny. The tasting was the best part of the tour. Back in the AC, sipping bourbon and listening to funny anecdotes and jokes. I think my favorite was the cask strength, and I was quite surprised at how tasty the Mean Green Reserve was. I just assumed it was one of their regular juices with a different label, but it's their juice blended with some sourced wheat bourbon. It was quite good. Overall, I enjoyed the tour. So much so, I spent about $400 on bottles in the shop. LOL. I saw a couple of Karens and Kens complaining about the cost of the bottles. I'd say for what you're getting, it's a fair price. They had handled jugs of their vodka for $19.95. They put them on sale at the beginning of summer. It's actually really good vodka, better than Tito's in my humble opinion. Ignore the few "Debbie Downer" reviews; this place is well worth the stop if you're in Hochatown. read more

Cute gift shop area, fun tasting room, and pretty expensive bourbon selections. It seemed pretty busy, they offer a tour that the tour guide described as not being a "sciency" tour, but words from someone who has worked with moonshine and bourbon for many years. One of the biggest reasons for the two star review was the way the owner/manager woman was speaking to and about an employee. She started an argument with the employee who was taking bottles off the shelf in the gift shop to try and sell them in the tasting room. She continued to argue with the employee (who was respectful) and kept talking about her after the employee went back to the tasting area. The "manager" or whoever she was seemed smug about "how she can get her to do whatever she wanted because she was her boss" while another employee agreed with her. It was all very awkward and seemed so unprofessional. We've been to quite a few distilleries, and we've never seen such an interaction between employee and supervisor, definitely a conversation that could've been handled away from guests. read more

Came here on a Monday. Did a little tasting in the speak easy. Tasted 4 bourbons and the vodka. The inside was a1930's hideout. They have is plenty of time to taste and explore. We ended up buying some select barrel bourbon. The gift shop is still growing. The inside is clean and well organized. Stop by and give them a try. The Tasting Room is open on the weekends and no tours to bourbon making until the weekend. read more
