Hubs and I are a sucker for local wood products, especially since we are DIY crafters ourselves. Rustic meets modern here with the several choices of wooden door signs, bar decor, centerpieces, charging stations, state shaped frames and more. What started as an Etsy shop in 2013 has become a full blown store front with the cutest pieces. I ordered a script name online to be picked up local but they also ship. I scoured the internet for days looking for this specific type of script sign and found Pinecone Home to be the most affordable and with a week turnaround time. The owner even contacted me before she started my piece to recommend going larger since the name was long. She added 5 inches to make it look better AND didn't even charge me for the extra. So awesome. My kiddo and I picked it up exactly a week later and found some cute wooden magnets for $1 in store. They also have a DIY workshop to create your own pieces. I am so, so glad Anderson finally has something like this!

One of the best things about this place is simply walking around and letting the inspiration come to you! I ended up buying three random trophy stands for sculptures I'm working on, and all three together were only 15 cents! The prices are amazing. You're welcome to donate while checking out, and you can also pay what you feel is fair based on your budget and what you think the item is worth. They do provide a suggested price when you check out, so it doesn't feel like an uncomfortable haggling situation. Whether you're looking for supplies for a craft night with friends, working on your own projects, or just want to browse and get inspired, this is a great place to visit. When I moved to the east side of Cincinnati, I had hopes that the Eastgate Store was just as great. It was not, as least not in the Framing Department. When I visisted, a male staff member in the framing department was rude and condescending. He did not make me feel welcome, and didn't seem interested in helping me select and order a customized frame. I tried at least twice to make the conversation more positive, but it only resulted in me feeling frustrated and let down. I ended up buying an off-the-shelf frame. On a positive note, I did speak with a manager about my experience before I left. She listened, asked questions, thanked me for the feedback, and said she would address it. I later returned to the store and return the frame I purchased without any issues.

And I had some great, animated conversations with the artists themselves, who were helpful and excited to talk about their work. Yes, these are hand-made specialty items, so the price was high. But it is going directly to the artists, so it is worth it.
