Hugo did a great job removing some bushes that were overgrown in my side yard. He was able to come out and provide a quote and get the work scheduled the same week.

AFTER: Citrus trees after HMC trimming.

While he was doing the work, he found problems with earthquake safety and the pad for our air conditioner, which he fixed. He worked on many projects in our yard in a two month period including the following: -new fire pit (which included demolishing old fireplace that was not built properly) -new steps into the back yard (to replace the one concrete step that was not safe) - new pavers for the front yard which replaces the driveway and the side yard (which included demolishing the driveway) - new rock wall bordering the front yard on the side and in front -new rock veneer on either side of the garage -new column mailbox -new walking path on the north side of the house with stepping stones (which included removing concrete that had been stored there) -new pad for the air conditioner on the north side -new concrete to shore up the pillars in front of the house to make the house safer for earthquakes -new redwood garden bed on the south side with mushroom compost -new pavers on the south side that match the ones in the front including a patio where we can put a table and chairs -moving the flagstone and putting it deeper into the ground while adding more flagstone in the backyard to make it safer and also more practical for us. -removing flagstone bench which we didn't like. He and his crew were very talented. They used high quality materials and their craftsmanship was top notch. They took the time to do it right and did not use shortcuts. He was an excellent communicator and willing to answer any questions we might have. He assured us that he was not finished until we were satisfied with the results. He has many years of experience in masonry and it showed. We were constantly adding on as we found new areas that needed improvement. He was flexible and willing to work with us. He worked with the suppliers to ensure that we would get the materials as soon as possible. Our house was the talk of the neighborhood as everyone came by to admire the results. We were very happy with everything he did. There are before and after pictures below so you can see the difference in how our yard looks. We would highly recommend him.

Synopsis: I find this company's communication to be unprofessional and unreliable…read more The good part: I first contacted PJM Landscape via their answering machine (The message says this is the offices of PJM Landscape and Jarco Land). They called me back very quickly. I told them what work I was interested in and they made an appointment with me to have Rodney Gollbech of Jarco Land come out to my home the next work day to scope out the work effort. I texted some photos to the office to prepare Rodney for the project. Rodney arrived at the specified date and time. When he arrived he said that he had not received the photos from the office so I had to waste time trying to locate them to share with him. Rodney seemed very personable and interested in my projects. He even saved me some money by persuading me that I did not need to have one of the projects done. He then made extensive measurements of my property line with the intent to replace and install new wood fencing. He told me that he would provide an itemized listing of each section so that I could split the costs with my neighbors. We then discussed repairing an existing chain-link gate and installing some new underground plumbing to add some outdoor water faucets. So far, I was very impressed with the company. The bad part: I sent Rodney several texts to his cell number after his visit which he never acknowledged. I left several voice mails to Rodney at the same cell number but he never called me back. I left voice mails at PJM Landscaping which were not returned. I contacted a live person at the main Jarco Landscaping office number and explained that I was not receiving any replies to my texts nor having my phone messages returned. She said, "Oh, that's not good!" She told me that Rodney was in the office and that she would speak to him and have him call me right back. I have not been contacted at all. It has been two weeks since his visit. Update #1 (8/14/2020): Within about one hour of posting this review, the president of Jarco Landscaping, Ricardo Garcia, emailed me their work estimate. The estimate was well done and the costs seem to be reasonable - I'll know better once I receive the competing bids. I still don't have a very good perception of this company because of their poor communication experience. But I have changed the rating from a 1 to a 2. Update #2 (8/18/2020): I just got a call from Rodney. After some discussion, I found out that I did not have his correct cell phone number, so I can no longer fault him for not returning my texts or phone messages to his cell number. However, I'm still concerned that I did not get a call back the day that I spoke to the lady in the main office who said that she would have him call me that afternoon and for the unanswered texts and voice mail messages that I left at the PJM Landscape office number. I'm now bumping the rating from a 2 to a 3.

Not only was Novara the most knowledgeable, they were also the most professional. Impressing me with their due diligence and knowledge of everything about both construction and landscaping. They were the only company who even mentioned laying gopher wire and knew about Ditra membranes. Seeing Stephen Garcia on social media cinched it for me. He knew his stuff. This was a company that I could tell would care as much as I did. I came to them with a full design in mind. Lots of landscapers don't love that because they want to do their own thing or because clients don't understand engineering, permits, etc. That said, Novara not only brought my own vision to life but they improved upon it with their experience and passion. I had nothing in my yard but a lot of dirt. Now I have a stunning porcelain paver landing with lighting, a patio and a pergola, DG, irrigation, lighting and a stunning plant design that is flourishing! These guys impressed me with their crew and work ethic. They were there early every morning and worked full long days. Stephen was in constant contact with me and came by frequently. He discussed every little thing they were doing. Novara never pushed me nor grew impatient with me or my questions. They didn't try to add anything expensive and were completely transparent about everything they did, as they did it. I cannot recommend them enough! I'm attaching some photos but will update them as more furniture arrives! Book these guys, you will not be sorry!

There were a few…read morethings we were looking for when choosing a contractor: reasonable pricing, professionalism, competency, and great communication. Drainage was our biggest concern as there's a slope going to the house. Addressing the engineering - not just aesthetics - gave us comfort that this company knows what they're doing. Quote- found them on Yelp, read the reviews, asked for a quote through Yelp projects. They offered next day coordination to view the project. Steven was pleasant and professional. Understood our drainage concerns. The emailed quote came the following day, and it had every detail requested. This punctuality and attention to detail already says a lot to me so we hired them. The job- Started on schedule and the team went above and beyond! We requested the excavated soil to be set aside so we could use it on another part of our property - they so kindly placed the soil in the areas we needed. We saw the engineering of the small gradation for water drainage. The channel drain and French drain were installed for longevity. The 1000+ sqft of pavers were meticulously arranged by hand to include border pavers. Timeframe- this massive job was scheduled for 5 days but extended into 10 days due to the manufacture shorting the border paver count. Clean up- the team did well to smooth out the rest of the excavated soil, gave us as much left over rock and pavers as we wanted and even relocated it to our convenience. Lastly, they swept the patio for immediate use and took any remaining debris. We very much appreciated Steven and the Novara crew for the long days and great work! We love that this a local family business doing great work. The patio looks great and it has us excited to extend our living space!
