I mostly come here for the occasional comedy show or concert, but the downstairs bar is kinda nice to hang out and people watch, though I can't say I've tried the food--all looks like standard bar fair to me. The people are great and I've never had a problem that a quick conversation with staff didn't fix. read more

Though the disparate noise from the band carry-over and inexplicably off-beat radio was nearly too loud to hear my own thoughts, I generally had a pleasant time until the seemingly drunk bouncer tried to pick a fight with a friend of mine at last call. Everyone is safe, but I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Yikes. Awful sound. Crawling with bouncers that flex as they walk around. Fees fees and more fees for a small venue. No thank you. NYC prices with middle of nowhere quality. Truly unfortunate. read more

HMAC Stage on Herr - Fiddlehead 2.22.23 - Bars Near Me - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

We hadn't been here in quite a few years. We came to see Psychedelic Furs. Getting through security wasn't bad at all. There are quite a few bars. Jordan Jess and Jose were all great bartenders. Drinks weren't too expensive. The venue is pretty good. I didn't see lines at the bathrooms (mens or womens) though my wife said her lock didn't work. I had a great time and would definitely go back. I didn't have any food. I did think about playing pool. They also had a dart board. We ubered there and lyfted home. Parking looks like it could be tricky. read more

Cute, intimate music venue in downtown Harrisburg. The bands play upstairs and there's a full bar located up there, as well as downstairs. Be aware - if you run a tab at the. they keep your credit card so don't forget it at the end of the night! The bathrooms are fairly clean and there are probably about 10-12 stalls in the women's room so the line moves quickly. Parking is a bit tricky so taking an Uber/Lyft is probably the best option. read more

Attended my first of hopefully many gigs at Stage on Herr last week. The bar is kinda hard to find. Enter HMAC on Third Street Harrisburg and walk past the The Kitchen bar and through the dining room where you'll find a discreet door, an entrance to another world. I eon't belabor the Alice metaphor, but behind the door is another full bar and music venue. The room is small with a tiny stage that barely accommodated a four-piece with a kit. An assortment of seats are scattered throughout the room and at the bar. (If you want to grab a seat, get there early.) I attended a gig by Dave Alvin and the Guilty Ones that really rocked the house, 9/10ths of whom were Dave Alvin fans like me, and the remainder who had never heard of Dave, Phil or the Blasters. The music was great, and acoustics were surprisingly good. The Stage schedule includes lots of good acts, some new folks doing bleeding edge stuff, and an occasional once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see wonderful Texas R&B (Alvin had never been to Harrisburg, believe it or not!) or other classic acts in an intimate atmosphere. C'mon Joe Grusheky! read more

This review covers only the Stage on Herr part of HMAC and I think having two separate Yelp listings isn't necessarily a good thing. Or a bad thing. Tough to decide since it's all a part of the same complex and ownership. It's like reviewing a large nightclub that has 3 separate themed rooms, formats/genres, and bars. Can it be done? Should it be done? Yet I digress... I've been coming here (again) now for a few weeks enjoying the open mic on Wednesday and have attended a crazy First Friday or two in the past. Before the Capitol Room opened, this was THE stage. Now with the larger stage/room upstairs, SOH is relegated to smaller acts and dj's. Overall: Good bar, can get crowded and bathrooms aren't great. Other than that, it can be dead with no bartender in sight and lame. It really depends on who's playing and what else is going on at HMAC and around town. Find yourself here and it should be a pretty good time. read more

Friendly and helpful staff. Obviously a true passion for art. Wish more businesses like this one. Wide variety of interests supported. Great atmosphere all around. read more

Came here to see the #supersuckers and it might possibly be the worst sounding show I've ever been to. I love the Supersuckers and was excited to introduce my wife to them. What we got was 112db of constant garbled, muddy sound. You should fire your sound man because it's evident he lied on his resume. I doubt we'll be back because I actually want to hear the bands I come to see. I've been touring for 28 yrs. This is by far the worst I've heard. Definitely needs some attention from management. Nice venue but this will definitely kill it. read more

Stopped on a whim. So glad we did! Bar has 3 different stages. Offers a variety of entertainment. Huge beer menu. Food available as well. Jordan was a GREAT host and made the experience that much more! read more

Good music venue. They even managed to snag Snarky Puppy with Michael League. Amazing. We used to go to (and recommend) HMAC for the happy hour with live Jazz, but there was a dramatic shift in the menu (probably a new chef), and, after a few attempts to appreciate the new food offerings, we stopped going to happy hour. Now we just appreciate the concerts and beer. read more

This is a very cool, unique, artsy, versatile place. You may not expect it, but the food is also good. Best diced homemade salsa, good wings, and good quesadillas. Miles was our cook and is a super chill dude. read more

Cool place they didn't have the ingredients needed for a Bloody Mary but they have awesome art through out their building cool stuff a little pricey to be honest especially being in Harrisburg but I guess that's just business. read more

Horrible service. I will never come here again. Why did it take 45 min to get 10 wings? I'll never come back. "Wing Night" is a trap.

If anyone ever asks if you want to go here for brunch... please say "no thank you". They are simply not equipped to handle this. Just a few things that happened today, 1. There were 5 items on the menu that they were out of right at opening. 2. 2 servers for the entire place, that were very overwhelmed. 3. What I ordered is not what I received and when I received it, the food was stone cold. (Would have sent it back but what's the point, it would have been another 45 mins to get it again) 4. My friend waited 30 mins for a Bloody Mary and when the server was asked about it she said with a smile "yeah, sorry I forgot about that" 5. Was overcharged on the bill for an extra meal that we never even ordered The only thing that was pleasant about this experience was the entertainment, The Yam Yams were amazing and honestly the only reason we didn't just get up and walk out. HMAC... if you plan on continuing your "brunch" then please step your game up, because your performance was embarrassing. read more

Thought it would be fun to check out a new city on a road trip and found what we heard was the coolest place in town. Arrived around 10 for a show in progress which was $10 per person. I asked the obvious question in a super friendly way about how long it would go. The three bouncers stared at me deadpan refusing to give me any indication whatsoever. I kept smiling and said I was out of town and tried to get any reasonable answer and they continued to be total assholes. This was pretty much our experience everywhere we went in Harrisburg that night. Will never return to this place or this city! I have traveled the world and have never experienced such unfriendly vibes. read more

My favorite place for an IPA. Owner personally introduced himself and made me feel so welcome. New bands all the time. My new spot, LOVE THIS PLACE AND WHAT WHATER IS ON Tap. read more

Honestly this vibe in this building is amazing, great drink menus and prices and food is quite spot on and fare in prices. On top of being a value for your wallet, the art all around you consumes you in and you just feel very comfortable as jazz and funks of all sorts are in the room playing. Everything about this place is amazing other than service I received. For my first time I kinda wanted to know about the place and feel welcomed, instead the bartender just seemed to hate his life and job here. I don't see why? It's honestly a great place. This is honestly a 5 stars but service and that hospitality welcome was all I missed. I'll be coming back and hoping someone else is working ‍ read more

Literally NEVER get brunch here unless Yam Yam is playing.... Yam Yam was the only good part about it. First of all everything is over priced, meals are small and not good. Toast came out without butter, wasn't even toasted. The entire menu has spelling mistakes all through it. Plus half of the stuff on the menu wasn't available. Also took 30 minutes to get a mimosa and there were only 4 tables full..... Anyways Yam Yam was cool. read more

I am really disappointed with what this place has become. I used to love taking visitors to HMAC when they came into town. It is a great venue which had interesting food/beer selections at a good price in the past. More recently, I took my family here when they visited for Thanksgiving. We had been to the market and Millworks to walk around and we wanted to get lunch but these places were packed and had really long wait times. I was shocked to find HMAC empty when a block over everywhere else was packed. I was disappointed to find out the menu consists of only chicken fingers, pepperoni pizza and cheeseburgers now. They used to have a much bigger selection. I was also disappointed when the bartender would go missing and no one else was around to ask for more water or our bill. Other issues included my dad asking for a Bloody Mary and the bartender saying "I don't think the mix is made up" or the whole table eating separate orders of fries and getting 4 bottles of ketchup that were almost empty. I believe we were given one to start and when I asked for more the server said "yes we have more, but I don't know where they are," and then he brought more bottles that were almost empty. I would like to see this place improved. Again, I have enjoyed going here for years, and I believe with more evening/morning prep by the staff to make sure when it opens they're ready and a stronger, more diverse menu it'd continue to be a great place downtown. Hopeful this place turns around. read more
