I was surprised to see some negative reviews here. John is the real thing and I love the shop. When you see John and the shop you are taken back in time to your Neighborhood tailor. I have never experienced John to be rude. Quite the opposite. Always pleasant! I have had many things tailored here and have never been disappointed with the quality of work! I had a dress I loved that got to tight on top. Looking at the dress I couldn't imagine that it was possible to do anything to loosen it. I brought it to John and I was amazed the result. I genuinely thought he knew what he was doing, given the price he charged me to tailor my pants. He was incredibly rude, and when I asked to try them on before he made the alterations, he insisted there was no need because he was confident in his skills. Many years ago someone told me that the most important detail about looking good in a suit isn't the fabric, label or how much you paid - nor even how fat or thin you might be. No, it is about finding a good tailor. And once you do - once you have found the right one - he will become more important than your barber, investment broker or favorite wingman. I have been going to this tailor for years, and when the pandemic hit I thought of him and prayed for his health and safety. But since I had been working mostly from home and haven't worn a suit for a year, I only just recently made my way back to HK Tailors after buying a new suit for a wedding this weekend. I love this tailor so much! He renews my faith in quality and craftsmanship in the 21st century. He fixed a moth hole for me, I couldn't even see where it used to be! Same for a hole in my husband's leather gloves. Every time I go here, I enjoy his friendly spirit, excellent work and reasonable prices. Very bad quality job. Brought my sport jacket in to get my sleeves shortened and they are visibly two different lengths. One is the length I wanted and one is much shorter than I wanted. The buttons are also no longer straight. They were sewn back in crookedly. All this cost $40 cash which, I'm not sure but, I think is overpriced for a job like this. This is a great little place, I've gone here twice for a prom and my brother's wedding. I have such a busy schedule that I somehow end up getting my dresses fitted last minute - but it was no problem either time here. The owner not only always does an amazing job, but it is a quick and easy process getting in and out and my dresses are always ready in an extremely timely fashion. When you need to get work done last minute it's always nerve wracking handing over your dress and not knowing if it will be done in time - but it's never a worry here!
