And the last thing I did not like was the fact that the bartender was kind of rude to me. I said a little quietly "thank you" when she fixed my drink and I guess she didn't hear because she said "YOU'RE WELCOME" kind of rudely. On the plus side - the noise level is very good for a serious talk, not to loud, not to low. I'd say it's good for a date or a meet-up with a friend. Also, the drink I had was great! I asked for a non-alcoholic ginger drink and just LOVED it.

Being someone who appreciates good food, nice wine as well as being interested in sports I have had so many horrible food experiences (think O'learys) at sport bars. Bortamatch is located at östermalm half a stair down from street level at Society. I ventured here to watch some Champions League football. They do have multiple TV screens and when I was there they were showing 3 games at the same time. Sound was only from one game so perhaps not optimal but still understandable as the place is not that big and it is just one big room. Service was in general fast and friendly and knowledge about the beer was good but they were not that familiar with the wine list. Still a good wine list with some interesting options for sparkling wines. The beer list was however a bit short and not that exciting considering that it is probably more popular with beer than wine at a sport bar. Menu had numerous dishes that sounded really tasty but eventually settled for the ox cheek with truffled mash. Very well executed and decent price so have found my favorite sport bar. Will be back!

Scottish brewers BrewDog have opened up one of their bars in Stockholm as well. Having visited…read moretheir London bars I had this on the list of places to visit for a fairly long time. One a Wednesday evening after work it was just the right amount of people there. Almost full but still possible to find a seat - gives the place a nice atmosphere and the friendly and knowledgeable staff is an additional strength. Beer is of course their main thing and their own beer is of course sold there. I am a fan of it but appreciate the selection of guest beers even more. A lot of small microbreweries represented both on tap and by the bottle. I cannot really fault them for the selection but the pricing is high, perhaps unfair as the price level in Stockholm is high but it annoys me when I had the same beer at their London bar for a third of the price. Was considering to give it a 3 but the quality level deserves a 4. This part of town also really deserves a decent bar so in that way a great addition.

Pretty hard to find if your just walking the streets in Gamla Stan but so worth it if you find it. Excellent drinks and while we were there, they had a beer special that was up my alley- so to speak. We also enjoyed some smoked salmon for an appetizer that was awesome as well. Some colorful lights and a large umbrella with some space heaters help to take the chill out of the late summer nights. And the bartenders were spot on with a drink or beer when needed. Just what we needed after some full days of walking through the historic town that is so full of great things to see. It's not often I want to try something a second time, but this space deserves a return trip.

For dessert there was a strawberry sambuca shake which was out of this world. I would definitely want to come back for dinner, but for a special occasion.
