History
Established in 2010.
History At Play™ was created to educate and entertain students young and old, from all over the world. Founder & Artistic Director Judith Kalaora discovered living history through work as an historical interpreter in Boston, MA. It was there that she portrayed the first woman to fight in the American Military, Deborah Sampson, and noted the repeated occurrence of guests asking, "Tell me more about Deborah!" HAP's debut performance, "A Revolution of Her Own™," chronicling the life of Sampson, premiered in 2010, and has been touring nonstop, playing over 1000 times, and as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival, on 42nd Street, in NYC. Our living history adventures first brought us along the independent and assisted living circuit. Within one year, we created two more living history performances and now, 10 years later, HAP features 6 solo programs and 2 ensemble performances, with 2 more productions currently in development.
The more we learn about history, the more aware we become.
