I wanted a special Christmas menu and Steve said: "Whatever I wanted." The food prepared by Chef Dave was fabulous.

I'm so glad I finally figured out that there is a difference between the mindfulness meditation I…read morealways did and this very specific and evidence-based method of meditation. TM, as it's known has done wonders for me and my family. We have witnessed a reduction in general anxiety and insomnia and I have enjoyed the focus and clarity I have as a result of my daily practice. My father is a Vietnam Veteran who has soul-shaking nightmares, which is part of what made me stumble across TM again and realize it was NOT what I thought. He called me in February recounting a recent nightmare and I inadvertently found that TM is offered to Veterans through a special pricing program. That's all I needed to hear. I signed us up for the orientation that was to be held the following day and we were trained that week. We have never looked back. I am a mental health counselor in private practice and agency work for over 20 years and my husband is a scientist in health-related issues. We are consistently reviewing evidence for different protocols and methodologies within our professions. The evidence for TM is overwhelming in all the ways it can benefit the mind, body, and soul. In fact, it is the only meditation method that IS evidence-based with over 40 years of studies showing its efficacy--some studies even show that TM is MORE effective than drugs that could be taken for certain symptoms. My father, husband, and I all think of our Daily Meditation as our "daily medication," as important, or more so than ANY pill we could be prescribed. What I really loved is the invitation to the SKEPTICS (we were skeptical too!) GO to an orientation! GO with all your skepticism and questions and doubts!! You have absolutely nothing to lose and so, so much to gain. You'll also get to see that this is a method--a technique--there is no connection to any religion if that were a reason not to give TM a try. Attend an orientation and enjoy the benefits of TM sooner than later. That's the only thing I'd have changed about my TM experience; that I'd gone sooner and implemented the practice in my life sooner. The benefits are innumerable. Training by Denise and Joseph is literally the Cherry on Top--two wonderful people who really enhanced the experience for us. AND, Denise literally 'wrote the book' on TM in the 70s!! So, if I wasn't clear...GO!! Go to an orientation!! See all the benefits you can have!! You'll be glad you did!!

A Review of Stable 8: This was our home away from home for the weekend - a little family getaway to…read moretake a break from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. We were able to book with no issue, it seems pretty much everything was available since I don't think this is their busy season. In fact, the Oracle Patio Cafe in town mentioned they're usually closed until March. The grounds are beautiful! Nice grassy areas to roam, lots of sitting spots, light walking and hiking, gorgeous greenery! We rented Stable 8 which has its own little gated lawn with front patio seating to enjoy the mornings and evenings. This is a 3 bedroom with 1 bathroom, 1 small living room, and 1 kitchen with a small 4 person dining table. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds, the third has 2 twins - enough sleeping space for 6 people if they don't mind sharing. There's a tv in the living room and free WiFi. Each room as well as the living room has a heating/cooling unit which all seemed to work great - we only needed some heat at night. The beds were fully made with sheets, comforters, and plenty of pillows. There were some extra blankets in some of the closets. The bathroom had plenty of towels and travel soaps/shampoos. The kitchen has a full size fridge with freezer, ice trays ready with ice, an oven/stove, countertop toaster oven, and microwave. There were minimal pots and pans (none large, no baking sheets), some basic cooking utensils, but plenty of spoons, forks, knives. We brought some food to cook like eggs, bread for toast, butter, a frozen pasta for the oven, and then had the rest of our meals in town. The staff were EXTREMELY FRIENDLY and made us feel welcome, while still allowing us privacy and keeping the vibes chill. They do have a pool and spa available for use too. The only reason I'm not giving the full 5 stars is because our place smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. So badly, we considered leaving because it gave my husband a headache. We went into town and bought a candle instead, and thanks to perfect weather, we were able to keep the door open throughout the day which helped. So, fyi to anyone sensitive to cigarette smoke, Stable 8 is not a "no smoking" room. Not sure about any of the other stables or rooms.

It rained on the wedding day but they went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and had a great time. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and we will continue to return here as often as we can. It's hard to make 150 wedding guests happy but at El Rancho Robles everyone had a great time.
