What a great hotel! On a 3 week motorcycle trip, we specifically designed the itinerary to be able to stay here based on the information I was able to find online. So glad everything I sensed about this was right! Even down to the creative email communications from the owners before and after the stay. The only regret is that we weren't able to meet any staff during the one night we stayed. We booked 2 King rooms that shared a common living room type area. Worked perfectly. Beds and linens were the best of our trip. Loved the way they maintained the historic feel but modernized in the right ways (bathroom particularly). I'd stay here again if I were anywhere near Burns. The remodel of this building is absolutely stunning. Attention to detail, and design was top tier. Absolutely love the lower area where there are sets of small comfy seating areas to gather with people you are traveling with. Our toddler had a throw up incident on the way there, after asking we were able to wash his blanket and his clothes on site. The downtown area nearby is super cute, nice few restaurants within walking distance. Loved this place, would highly recommend. read more

First, they have done a wonderful job fixing up an old building into a cute hotel. The decor is lovely and period oriented. But, when you enter, forgetting the decor, it is unfriendly. It's not staffed, so there is no human contact, no feeling of welcome. There's a patio out back, but you need to bring your drinks from outside. So, again, it's not spontaneously welcoming. The room is cute, but there is no TV or coffee maker (you go out in the hall to make coffee). The sign in the hall says open the window if it's too hot. (The hotel is on a busy street). Sadly, not the hotel's fault, the restaurant selection in Burns is very limited. read more

This is a super-fantastic hotel. Restored by the Keady family between 2016 and 2018, it is a comfortable, clean, whimsical, charming, quiet, thoughtful and well managed hotel in Burns, OR. There is great attention to detail, a lovely large back patio ready for events or gatherings, easy access to one's room, a great choice of rooms and good price points. The A/C was excellent, the bed and pillows so comfortable - I didn't want to get back on the road to Crater Lake! There is a "Sweat Room" which has all the extras you usually have to ask for - extra towels, pillows, blankets, a microwave and frig, etc. There is a welcome bar with treats and coffee so you don't have to have that taking up space in your room. Out of 12 rooms there are 5 that share hallway bathrooms with showers and toilets but each room has a sink. The other 7 rooms have en suite bathrooms. Very well thought out. I stayed in the Whipersnapper and LOVED my room. Sharing the bathroom was no problem, even though I get up at night. The parking is on the street, which was a little disconcerting but worked out fine. I would go out of my way to stay here again. read more

If it were possible to give the Historic Central Hotel more than 5 stars, we would. We found Jen to be most welcoming and flexible with our check-in date, which had to be changed due to circumstances beyond our control. No expense has been spared in making this hotel a fantastic place to stay. if you take a gander at the photos in the upstairs hallway, you can really appreciate the quality work that's gone into this remodel. We loved all of the bits and pieces that they've saved from the hotel's earlier days. Our room was super clean, the bed and bedding were top notch, the (shared) shower had a ceiling mounted shower head and beautifully done rock wall. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We stayed in the Flapper Girl. If you have to make an early departure like we did, be kind to your neighbors and walk softly: the floor squeaks :) If you are ever in Burns, treat yourself to the Historic Central Hotel: you won't regret it! read more

Back patio is great for meeting and conversation with other guests. I was traveling through town for work and they had the only rooms in town. Boy did I score big with this hotel! Incredible new cool dining opportunity in Burns!! Great beer selection and delicious food! We were planning to eat at the nearby Mexican restaurant (per the recommendation of our dear friend Tim) but lucky for us they were closed, so we walked over to the Chinese place but noticed this cool rooftop dining area down the street. We went to check it out and BAM! Discovered this EXCELLENT new taproom and food cart behind the Historic Central Hotel. The western chicken sliders with sweet potato fries were melt in your mouth yummy. Fish tacos had that cilantro white sauce that really brings the taco to heavenly status. And French fries with my fish tacos? Yes please! Really good crunchy fries. Food truck owner "Beer Dog" really knows how to put flavors together. Great menu with daily specials. Everyone was friendly and welcoming! Only bummer is they have super limited hours (Thursday-Saturday 4pm-8pm), but that may change eventually. Also, it's all outside so may be weather dependent. Although they do have fire pits. They also have cornhole. And the bathrooms are really cool! With this place in town, I could live in Burns. We will be back, again and again! read more

There was really no reason to stay in Burns before now but Jen and Forest have begun the swing..... we stayed at the CH as a base camp so we could explore the Steens and Round Barn areas, and it did not disappoint. My hubby wanted to move in! He really did. LOL Between the amazing restoration and the cute and historic decor to the huge shower and the comfiest bed, this place is 10 stars! We were traveling from Crater Lake to Boise and found this gem. The check-in is so simple with codes. The room was decorated in my words as "retro chic ". LOVE. The room was so clean and smelled fresh. I loved all of the furniture and lighting Including the most amazing hanging shelf. The king size bed is perfect and bedding was luxurious. (they wrote "Welcome" on the blanket with their finger.) The beautifully tiled shower is humongous and the toiletries were name brand and smelled delicious. Arriving on a Sunday afternoon, a lot of the restaurants in town were closed. So we hopped on over to the grocery store and made up a charcuterie plate to enjoy with wine. We didn't get to experience the tap room or tour the Boiler Room but hope to visit again when these are available. Heather has suggested in her welcome text to visit the hot springs nearby. The coolest boutique DIY-style hotel I've ever stayed in--and it's in Burns Freakin' Oregon! The owners have paid every attention to detail--perfectly-designed cozy rooms (staying in Gold Digger) to a little walk-up coffee bar with a few cans of beer/cider in the mini fridge to wet your late night whistle. Absolutely my favorite hotel in a small town, hands down! Jen and Forest have lovingly restored this little piece of history in Downtown Burns. We can totally relate to that kind of thing and you can see the history of those renovations hanging on the walls. Each and every room is different and special. We have stayed in three so far. Eclectic decor, comfortable beds and bedding, awesome showers and coffee bar(self serve). Be aware, there are no televisions or telephones or even radios (docking stations) in these rooms. This is meant to make you relax, enjoy and perhaps revive communications between people. They do however have a beautiful patio out back, with a taco truck and beer service from 1188 Brewing on Thursday. There are cornhole games, fire pits and plenty of seating available. Sorry, no pool or spa for you or the kiddies. It is well worth it to take the time and book a stay. read more

This place is amazing. Every detail was taken into consideration and as a business owner myself I was thoroughly impressed. The theme of the hotel was carried out from the outside in. The rooms each had a name as opposed to a room number. The elements of historic preservation combined with modern accommodations blended seamlessly. The venue is clean, and highly immersive for the era it is trying to portray. In addition to the hotel portion they have an incredible event space which is indoors but leads to a fully functional outdoor event space as well. I was traveling with my husband and our toddler and even my 20 month old had fun exploring. I am happy that this is family owned and I hope the legacy will stay in the family for years to come. read more

The Historic Central Hotel is amazing! The only thing left to be desired is a better location. This hotel is by far the most unique, charming, and fantastic location in the entire town of Burns. Granted, that is setting a low bar. The only downside was that the patio bar isn't open all nights. On the nights the patio is open this place could be a destination all it's own. read more

We arrived in Burns one day earlier than expected and found ourselves with no place to stay. This hotel was HIGHLY recommended. It was super last min but I called and thankfully they had a room available. Check in etc is all done online and codes to both the front door and your room are sent securely via email. When I walked inside...my mouth literally dropped. This place is beautiful. It has been restored with so much love. It explodes from the second that you walk to in. Everything about this place is adorable. They have taken great efforts to make this place comfortable and homey. Tiny little details like the barn doors in the rooms and the keys on the outside frames on the rooms. The historical pics are wonderful and when we left the next day there was period music playing in the lobby. It all just adds to the entire experience. Bed was a little hard for my liking but no biggie. There are also no TV's in the room, again no biggie for us but may bother some. I am posting some pics so you can see just how lovely this hotel in the middle of nowhere is! read more

What a gem! We happened on the hotel on our trip from Pahrump, NV to Spokane, WA. Very nice service, the rooms are fantastic! We liked the Downton location, too. NO TV, but great internet. Not all rooms have a private bath. The design is retro prohibition/shabby chic. Very tasteful, unique, and well done. We are now planning our next visit. read more

Can't imagine a cooler place to stay than this between Bend, OR all the way to central Nevada or wherever else you are headed in our beautiful, wide-open spaces where towns are few and far between. What a gem!! We were traveling through and reserved a room. We arrived late, to a code for the door, wonderful 30's ish music playing. Our room was perfect, from the pillows, to the shampoo, to the coffee. We loved reading about the family and the renovations they did' it's stunning! We felt so welcomed without seeing a single person because we got up and left early. Our only regret is we didn't meet the family! We did take the recommendation of the breakfast burrito... yum! When I arrived o invited to park my motorcycle behind a locked gate and was treated to a whiskey tasting in the boiler room by Jen's husband Forest. The Historic Central Hotel is a FIND. It has been completely renovated, and was the perfect place to stay for a few nights while we explored the Malheur NWR. We had one of the rooms with a private bathroom, which had a great shower. every detail was so well done. And if you are going to Burns because of the Malheur NWR, you are pretty much guaranteed to meet others at the hotel doing the same, who are all eager to share their finds, and the best spots. And there are plenty of those. We will be back. Can't wait! read more

This hotel is AMAZING, from the thoughtful historic and hand-crafted decor to the welcoming and accommodating owners! The whole wedding party for my sister's wedding stayed here recently and was truly impressed by the amount of care and effort the Keady family has put into renovating this historic building. Each room is spacious, comfortable, and totally unique. All the event spaces (Grand Central Room, Living Room, and back patio) were lovely. Jen was so kind and easy to work with, even when we had some last minute changes! I'm a local, and was so happy that my family and friends from out of town were able to stay at the Central and have a home away from home. I can't recommend the Central enough - it's without a doubt the best place to stay in Burns, a great jumping off point to experience everything our community has to offer, and a fantastic venue for anyone looking to host an event. Like a lot of other people, we just happened on this hotel on a long drive. It is truly an oasis. The owners have restored and renovated the place meticulously and the back patio is a wonderful place to relax. They serve beer and mead Thurs-Sat, but we were there on a Sunday and since a bunch of guests were lounging in the back, Jen opened the bar for us. It's hip, it's comfy, and it's in Burns, OR. Now we intend to go back for a destination visit instead of just a drive by. I can't say enough good. read more
