Restaurant De Botter is thankfully not one of them. considering its location, the prices are quite fair, and the seafood is of good quality and cooked with care. the menu is extensive, and given its demographic, is in German, Dutch, and English. the friendly and attentive servers generally speak all three languages and are comfortable switching. the mussels are fantastic, and the butterfish is a must-try. the sole is also quite good. the decent kids' menu reflects the idea that kids globally seem to like things that are fried...then again, don't most adults? both the inside and outside seating is pleasant; you can just decide if you'd like to be part of the tourist scenery or not!

Reservations are recommended to avoid disappointment for busy weekend nights and Sunday brunch. Food menu items regularly change and are of high quality and well prepared. Today's breakfast was great as usual and the portions are well sized and attractively priced; especially considering the location. In the summer the location has a great outside terrace with ample seating on lounge chairs, benches and deckchairs. For dinner their steaks are great; grilled on a charcoal grill and served on a wooden plank. Beer and wine selection is good. Prices are moderate and the place is frequented by a hip crowd.

Excellent. My fish was presented "whole" and called "dorade" or sea bream. So well prepared: simple and firm. It came with local vegetables and some french fries. The ambiance is relaxed, cool and hip! Lots of great music and beautiful, blond people! The views are just stunning, because the restaurant is on the beach, so you can watch the sea and wild waves. We saw spectacular clouds and sunset.

Let's be honest what could a kitchen possibly run out of? My wife ordered a soup and a burger instead. More on food quality later. Promised. After taking my wife's food order the wait staff asked me if I wanted something to drink. Hm, what about my food order? Oh yes I was going to order a soup and burger too. Ok, the soup (Asian Bisque) was okay but luke warm at best. My wife's burger was blasted on the broiler on the outside but raw inside, not medium. Burger is small on a big bun and basically tasteless. Staff is generally inattentive and could not care less. Payment with credit card seems to be an intellectual challenge too! Better go to Zuiderbad next door for great food and better service.

You know, something to make you feel welcomed in the restaurant... Then they seat you. Second thing that comes from their mouth; "If you don't finish your food, we will charge you extra per piece." Ok... How about explaining the menus with excitement and happy vibes first? Why start off with the whole "YOU SHALL BE PUNISHED!" Vibe? Jeesh... the manager made everything feel so awkward. She was not friendly. The employees looked abused and unhappy. I've never seen anything like it before. Their spirits completely broken. Probably due to toxic management. The food is mediocre sushi as best. I've traveled all over the world for sushi... and there is no way this stuff is worth what they are charging. It tastes like generic grocery store to-go sushi, to be completely honest. It's not horrible, but it's not great either. Just basic and overpriced. Just disappointing. I've spoken to multiple people who've had this same experience at this particular restaurant. My solution- Improve staff training and interpersonal skills. Also I'd focus on improving the customer experience.
