It was a few years ago, and I had a job, although it was going to end within a month or so when the owner (a solo attorney) decided to retire and close the business. I had been placed by this agency previously during the 2008 recession and while it wasn't a great job, it was the only work I got offered during a very difficult time. So I approached them again as I was facing another layoff. First of all, I was working downtown and they wanted me to come all the way over to their Century City office in person. I said it would be difficult for me to get time off work to do that (and as I was going to be unemployed soon, I needed the money). At this point, I had 14 years of experience in litigation, and didn't need to take a bunch of tests only to spend two minutes with a recruiter who would tell me "well we'll tell you if something comes up", and I said this to them over the phone. I made it clear that I would be happy to take the time, come in, test and interview, etc., IF they had an actual opening they would consider me for. I finally relented and went over to the office to see if they had an opening, which they did, but they refused to consider me for it! The recruiter lied to my face and said it was because I worked for a solo attorney (that was only my most recent position; others were from mid size to large firms)! She just didn't want to consider me because SHE made the determination the client wouldn't want me. (I knew she was lying when she said it was a client requirement. Why not send my resume over, and if the client decides to pass, at least they had the opportunity to consider me, like every other recruiter does?) So in the end, the recruiter did the very thing I asked her not to do! Also, after I arrived on time for my appointment, she kept me waiting 15 minutes before coming out to see me...for 2 minutes! This really burned me up because I had already sent my resume, so she knew whether or not she had someplace to submit me before I came. She completely wasted my time, after I took time off from work and drove all the way over there! It was a thoroughly unprofessional and unpleasant experience. I have since worked with other agencies & recruiters who outperformed this one in every way. If you get work through them, great. Just know that they pick and choose who they treat well, and they don't shy away from being snooty about it. read more

Went there to meet with Karen Saken. As soon as she saw me she called me "adorable". I thought it was unprofessional but I said to myself hey I'll let it slide. Then she said it again... it is not ok to call someone adorable during a professional meeting (I'm a 33 year old man). Whether she was trying to be cute, funny, etc... you just don't do that. It makes people feel uncomfortable. Since I'm here I would also like to mention, the office has an open layout- glass walls and open doors.... while I was sitting and waiting to meet with Karen, I overheard employees talking bad about their clients. They knew someone other than an employee was in the office, and did it anyway. They should have shown some professionalism and class, and at least did it after I left. I hate giving bad reviews, but it is, what it is. read more

Never heard of this agency. Don't know if it was just the newly hired recruiter because her partner was just as green, but my higher consciousness and wonderful recruiters from other agencies got the best of me. Was checking reviews on other recruiting offers (plenty of better ones out there) and felt bad for any new folks, so here I am. Christine reeked of desperation and tried to gaslight me into a role that even I knew was toxic, well before - at her insistence - I reluctantly took the first interview. It was already getting to be annoying as hell as she e-mailed me with lengthy,overly neurotic "tips" as to what NOT to say - but could not give me answers as to WHAT to say because as I told her, it was not a good fit. Finally I took charge and told her I'd just interview and see if it works out. She assured me we'd discuss afterwards. I spent 30 minutes, $15 getting to a COFFEE SHOP on my lunch hour just to be asked the most basic screening questions which could have been done over the phone within 10 minutes by the DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS rather than her struggling assistant, also a "Director" but suspiciously leaving for a higher education (which I already possessed). Red flagsss, red flags everywhere. She didn't want me asking why we were meeting at a coffee shop rather than their office. Good Lord. The job - I was expected to work the exact same role + NEW, EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT responsibilities to TWO CEOs, with the young "Director's" title to be changed to Administrative Assistant. Recruiter then tried to schedule me for a second round before we even had the chance to regroup post-interview - which we had planned to do first! Begrudgingly called after work and tried to express my concerns. She didn't acknowledge anything and came to conclusions without communicating. She also - surprise! - could not provide me with any clear answers and went around in tangents yet again. Seriously, talking to her was exhausting. I felt like I was sheepdogging just to get basic questions answered directly. I called at 7p, ended at 9. I honestly don't know why I didn't just politely cut this shit off then; I guess I was operating in good faith (even though it's crystal clear there is nothing to merit this). HUGE BLARING ALARMS. ABORT MISSION. The following Monday, I received a text message in which she said we could discuss "negotiating" with the company through her "client-facing partner." At this point I was getting tired of all the excessive calls, e-mails and repetitive everything. I asked if I could speak directly with said partner. She gives me a time; the time passes, no call. After 30 minutes I text her and ask what happened, because I was about to end lunch. She ONLY THEN texts they are on a meeting and that they will call ASAP. After 20 more minutes, during which I'm already clocked back in -_____- I pick up, only to be surprised with BOTH of them on the call. Seriously dude, this is so extra at this f****** point. We spend the next 15 minutes going over the SAME THING, YET AGAIN, only for "client-facing" partner to basically echo what I had told her well before the interview: This was not a good fit. I told her sure no problem, I only took this call because my "recruiter" said we were set to negotiate and address my concerns. However, what was most disconcerting was that even "client-facing" partner did not understand the unreasonable demands of the company (report to an incompetent "Director of Operations," yadda yadda, no benefits whatsoever with significantly less than minimum EA pay, and the clear reason why a young "Director" would suddenly leave after being in her role for years, right after her new lazy bum of a "supervisor" was hired on). I tried to explain to her how easily transparent the shit management was here and that no reasonable professional would last at this role even if they directly hired someone on, including myself, unless there was a better offer - wherever it be from them or not. She hemmed and hawed and said she wouldn't know about that, completely dropping the ball on any type of professional ethics. SELF-DESTRUCT WARNING. I should have, and finally, cut contact. To top it off, another initial flag was that on LinkedIn, my "recruiter" had no experience being one prior, nor did she care that this was clearly not a good fit for me despite the belabored hours she spent "understanding" what I was seeking in a new role (seriously, it takes ONE sentence per step). Thank God for my old recruiters, because without them I probably would not know what a healthy, knowledgeable recruiter looks like and would have been suckered by these hopeless folk. Too many "recruiters" these days not knowing the most basic communication or people skills just trying to snag a commission. Doubt any of them will last long. Still have the screenshots and going to politely pass if they don't (hopefully) forget about me first. Trust your gut, avoid any sketchy new recruiters and run as far away as you can. read more

I wish I could give this agency five stars. It's pretty obvious though, that only someone who actually got the job through LOG could give them five stars. However, I can certainly acknowledge what worked and what didn't work in my interaction with the staff at this company. After all was said and done, and not said nor done, I was left with a foul after taste. Here is what happened. One of the agents of Legal Option Group found me after I had applied for a job, which had been posted on craigslist. This recruiting agent called me, less than 3 hours after I had applied and was communicating to me that they were really impressed by my resume, experience, and skills. So they asked me to go in for an interview, assuring me that I was a great fit for the position I had applied for. Legal Option Group has a beautiful office in Century City, overlooking our City of Angels. The two agents I met plus the owner were all very nice, polite, apparently refined. One gold star for them! Yaaay! In hindsight, I now think that was all a charade. Their polite and uplifting demeanor tricked me into believing that they were the real deal! After my interview with them I waited, they told me to wait. They said they'd get back to me as soon as they knew more about the position I had gone for. Two weeks later, still no word from my recruiting agent. After a follow-up email and a phone call to them, my agent finally called me back to tell me that they had not yet heard back from the client but that they were probably going to go with a different candidate. I was somewhat disappointed, given that I had not even had a chance to interview with the company. Oh well, I'll let it go, I thought. After the "bad" news, my recruiting agent informed me of a new job, that, once again, she said, I was the PERFECT candidate for. Great, I said. Let's go for it. After reading the job description I too thought I would be perfect for the job and vice versa. The agent and her supervisor called me the day before the interview to prep me, which I considered very thoughtful and professional. Second gold star for them! Yaaay! My agent said I was just what the company (the client) was looking for. I had the skills, the experience, the education, the "pedigree"! In other words, I was the real deal! I got really excited and was looking forward to my interview, which, the next day, went very well.(in my experience). The following Tuesday they reviewed by email my follow up thank you letter to my interviewer. They scored a third gold star from me there. Yaaay! Here is why I give Legal Option Group only one star. To this day, it's been a month now, I did NOT hear back from either the person I interviewed with, or from my recruiting agent. No response, complete silence. Not even a courtesy call or a courtesy email. I sent a follow up email and left a voicemail. No word back after that either. To me, that cancels out all the gold stars earned before, and every good treatment and professionalism shown when they first met me, and prior to my interview. Not cool! What this behavior translates into for me is that they have no interest in maintaining a good relationship with the candidate. At this point, I am questioning the authenticity of their choice of words and praise in their communication with me. It seems like they treat candidates as if they are disposable; why bother and call the candidate back? I doubt they treat their paying customers the same way. Reality is that they lost more than just a great candidate in me. read more

Unfortunately I wasted my time and gas to go to the appointment. She made me wait for half an hour because of a meeting she couldn't miss. Once the meeting was over she took phone calls, emailed some "candidates" and went to the bathroom. After 40 minutes waiting finally she took the time to deal with me. In the mean time her next appointment showed up so she was in a rush. Spent no time or effort understanding what I am looking for and took more phone calls while interviewing me. I met more than one person and had the opportunity to interview for a position that was in the new direction I wanted to move towards. I didn't get that job, but that was the only interview I even got in that area... In the end they found me a job in my main area of expertise. And this all happened in about a month. I was contacted by Mona after she found my resume online. She had me take time to drive to their century city location to "conduct a screening." She had me fill out several documents concerning my qualifications, education. One of the documents even requested my SSN, which I did not provide. Days later, I sent her an email requesting status on any job openings and her response was brief/abrupt. She simply indicating that these things take time.
