Not only is she a great listener, she does a fabulous job explaining why I was having ear aches and how this can be addressed. Thank you Dr. Kim!! The only downside is that I had to wait almost 2 months from the time I called to get an appointment to actually seeing her. Tells me she is very popular but makes me wonder what I'd do if I had a more immediate issue.

Dr. Kirby is a fantastic, no-nonsense, highly intelligent doctor who consistently runs on time, has…read morea wide breadth of knowledge, and is deeply versed in her fields of expertise (pulmonary medicine and internal medicine). In seeing other reviews, I notice a common thread of complaint: one being that individuals would like to see an improved bedside manner, and one being that they were unsatisfied with their diagnoses. The following addresses both of these issues: Dr. Kirby is an incredibly competent doctor with over 30 years of experience (including medical school). She is also consistently rated as one of the top internal medicine doctors at Northwestern in terms of timeliness. This combination of timeliness and knowledge is incredibly hard to find in a physician. Therefore, Dr. Kirby is an expert at recognizing time management needs, quickly understanding the patient's needs, and evaluating the proper diagnosis and treatment options based on her wide variety of knowledge. Dr. Kirby's quick assessments of problems and equally rapid evaluation of treatment options is not an indicator of negative bedside manner or improper diagnosis skills, but rather an indication of sapient qualifications. She has a deep array of knowledge and uses it to swiftly help her patients. As a patient who has seen Dr. Kirby, I can confidently say that she spent the appropriate time understanding my needs and quickly determined the follow-up protocol. I am confident in Dr. Kirby's opinion and appreciate the efficiency she uses to help her patients. If you are looking for a doctor who is warm and fuzzy - one who will spend 15-20 minutes chatting with you, who might tell you all of your possible diagnoses until she settles on the correct one, or who will tell you many ineffective treatment options before the correct one, then go elsewhere. TLDR: If you are looking for a strong and efficient physician who is a lovely balance of personable and effective, time-efficient, caring, and fiercely intelligent, go to Dr. Kirby. She will get to the bottom of your issues and prescribe a treatment protocol you can be confident in - in a manner of minutes.
