They seemed disorganized. My initial nurse wheeled me through the waiting area to have one procedure done instead of going in the halls behind the lobby . I was embarrassed because I was in a surgical gown at the time, when that procedure was done. A different nurse did take me back to my original room in the back halls to not create embarrassment. She said going through the lobby is quicker, but they should not be taking patients in gowns through there! The mammogram tech and radiologist were fantastic and the surgeon was also great! I was there a total of 7 hours when I was told it would be 5. Two procedures were done though and tHings run slow here, but they are thorough! I recommend it for outpatient care!

Had a back injury when I was a kid that I never really had looked at. Fast forward 12 years, and…read moreit's still causing me pain (go figure). Went to one doctor who pushed for an MRI, and then never got back to me. Waited a few months and decided to head here (Pinnacle) and give them a go. Was in so much pain at the time that I couldn't even sit down without tears welling up. Standing at an always angle was my only relief. They saw this. They knew this. This visit occurred around spring time 2025 I went in, did the routine, signed a waiver to release my MRI to them, and got some blood work scheduled for a little later on. Left very hopeful and optimistic with how genuinely invested the doctor seemed to be in fixing me. Gave me a lot of info. I never heard back from Pinnacle. No follow up, no "hey we have your MRI results and this is what they show", no emails, no calls/voicemails, not even a letter. Nothing. Pinnacle ghosted me. The lack of follow up and being all around a caring and professional healthcare organization is not the reason for the single star rating however. The rating comes from the fact that nobody got back to me, yet I OWED THEM MONEY. I paid my copay, and thought that was it. Next thing I know, I have a collections agency calling me about a debt stemming from my visit here at pinnacle. Had absolutely no knowledge of it. And when I called, I got a woman with a nasty attitude basically telling me I'm an idiot because they always send out PAPER MAIL about money owed. So not only did I not get a letter at all, but in 2025, you can't CALL ME OR EMAIL ME WHEN YOU HAVE MY INFO?? This came at the perfect time too, because I was just recently laid off from work. So now my credit will take a hit because I NOW don't have the $300 I could've paid off months ago Nice place inside, but absolute trash. Would never recommend. I will never go here or another affiliated healthcare company again. It's hard enough finding people who care, but this is ridiculous. Screw Pinnacle

The appointment was rushed after she had waited months to see him. She did all of the testing he requested, right before her appointment to explain all of the test results he decided she needed a sleep study. It was also decided that my mom has sleep apnea, which meant she needed a cpap machine. It's been 9 weeks and she's still waiting for that to be delivered. Ridiculous.

If you have insurance coverage that will cover prescription costs then I do not recommend Family…read moreMedicine of Merrillville. You would be better served going to a genuine provider who puts more emphasis on patient care and less emphasis on profit. I have been going to Family Medicine of Merrillville for over a year. I was originally in "Dr. Luke's" care. He is an LPN who got a job elsewhere and I was subsequently assigned to LPN Weronika Lugo when he left. I had two visits with Weronika Lugo. The first was on March 12, 2026. The second was on May 21, 2026. During these visits the subject of additional medications came up that I needed. When I asked about those Weronika Lugo's response was to "Take charge of your healthcare and do it yourself." This is a curious answer for a caregiver to give to a patient. Over the course of two visits she gave me this exact response at least six times to various questions. A reasonable interpretation is that she doesn't want to deal with me. And I'm fine with that. I started looking for another doctor's office. I started having problems getting my prescription refilled. After several phone calls to the pharmacy and the insurance company my wife determined that the prescription had been approved on the wrong prescription insurance plan that was employer based. The insurance company insisted on dealing with the doctor's office and it was not something that I could get done myself. The office manager's response at Family Medicine of Merrillville was to acknowledge that it would take an employee a considerable amount of time on the phone with the insurance company to get this mistake corrected. Then she said this wasn't an expenditure she was willing to make and if I wanted my prescription I needed to pay $300 to their office to get it filled instead of just paying the $25 copay at the pharmacy. That is when I knew for certain they really don't want me as a patient. Their main concern isn't the welfare of their patients. It is selling drugs out of their refrigerator for maximum profitability. I was prepared for indifference. But what happened when I went to a legitimate healthcare provider and left Family Medicine of Merrillville was entirely unwarranted. They listed my prescription as "no longer medically necessary" in my records to prevent me from getting it under insurance coverage at a pharmacy since I opted not to buy it directly from them. They did this in July when I had not had a visit to their office since May. I had already gone to another LPN for a checkup and gotten a prescription elsewhere. Family Medicine of Merrillville intentionally kneecapped me on the way out the door. I don't know if this is illegal or unethical but I am reporting it to whatever regulatory authority I can find whose jurisdiction covers it. My recommendation is a hard pass on Family Medicine of Merrillville. There are some good people who work there but the people who direct and focus the work don't have your best interests in mind. They are the kind of people who would have been selling Fen-phen out of the trunk of a car in 1995.

I finally got in, we sat down &went through everything, I wasn't super comfortable, but I figured I would go ahead and get the epidural shot anyway because I was in excruciating pain & needed it. To get a little personal, I have anxiety when it comes to any medical procedures and I made the doctors aware of the situation so they suggested I get sedation. A week and a half later I finally get in to have my shot done. It was hotter than Hades in that office & was even hotter once you got back in the patient area. The bed they put me in was baking in the sun. It had to be nearly 80° and then they put a warm blanket on me. I sit down and my anxiety rampant. My blood pressure was high. My heart rate was high, and I had a Slightly elevated temperature, which are all symptoms of anxiety. They took my vitals every five minutes in a crowded room with constant beeping a blood pressure cuff going off every minute and then constantly telling me to calm down. As the timer went off every five minutes, I anxiety got worse. My Elevated temperature did go down to 99.4. And if you read the CDC says a fever is considered anything over 100.4. The doctor, then rudely comes over and tells me he cannot continue with the procedure because I must have some sort of infection. And then told me it was not possible to have an elevated temperature from anxiety. I've experienced this numerous times before I have been told by different doctors that it is completely possible to have an elevated temperature due to my anxiety, and I have read numerous studies from medical journals as well as information from the CDC that very clearly states heightened anxiety can cause an increase in temperature. When I explain this, he basically told me I was crazy. It wasn't possible. I have an infection. I have to go home. The minute I get home I take my temperature and it is a cool 98.7°. Just like I said no fever no infection it was caused by my anxiety. I called the office afterwards and ask them if I could reschedule my procedure but with a different doctor and she told me it was against policy and they wouldn't let me do so. After complaining she said she would talk to her supervisor and get back to me by the end of the day or at least the next morning at the latest. No call yet. Unprofessional, beyond ridiculous and I would say never come here and never see this doctor again I'm a little worried that he doesn't know that any of that is actually possible. Makes you wonder what else this doctor doesn't know. Here's a couple articles to enlighten you. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4843908/. https://www.health.com/mind-body/can-stress-cause-fever So after all of this mess and administrator calls me and tells me they will definitely give me a new doctor. They can even move me to a different clinic to have the procedure done and she's gonna see what she can do to get everything expedited and call me back and give her a day or two. Well, it's now been a week and she hasn't called me back clearly they don't care about their patients. I'm going to make sure I file complaints wherever I possibly can't about this place.
