I discovered this mobile hot dog cart business on Facebook a month or so ago. I love a good hot…read moredog and I love a local business, so I knew I had to chase them down and try one for myself. The menu is simple but highly creative. You can build your own hot dog with a variety of toppings (classics, like ketchup or mustard, are free; premium, like peppers and onions or pineapple relish, are .75 cents) or you can order one of the chef's specialty dogs. By default, the dogs are enormous, savory, and all beef, but you can change to a sausage dog for an upcharge if that's more your flavor. Specialty dogs run between $7-$8, depending on the number and type of toppings. Each one is named after an iconic or well traveled road in Huntsville, which is a great tie-in to their name and theme. You can buy chips on the side, but we all found the dogs to be a more than ample lunchtime meal, and worth the price. My parents and I had the 431 (pineapple relish, bacon bits, peppers and onions), the South Parkway (a tricked out chili cheese), and the Monte Sano (brown mustard, kraut, pickle relish, bacon bits). Each one was delish, piled high with toppings, and made fresh to order. It's obvious the owner is thoughtful and particular about the toppings. The bacon bits were real, freshly chopped, crispy and fatty bacon -- not the kind you buy in a package at the store. Astoundingly, the buns held up to all the goodies piled on top. If you're too intimated to eat with your hands, forks and a multitude of napkins are at your disposal. The owner was there slinging dogs himself and we had a good time chatting with him. He and his wife run the operation by themselves, and it's nice to see and interact directly with the people who benefit from your business. He was very nice and did an excellent job preparing our food and telling us about his product. You can reliably find their weekly schedule posted on Facebook. They're often at Parkway Scrubs for lunch and also appear at local breweries and events for dinner, but don't take my word for it -- find their page and hunt down this cool little cart.

I went to Taco Mama once with a friend, tried El Cazador because the stand on Hwy 72 looked too cute, and went to Cantina Laredo with the hubby for a lunch date. Don't get me wrong, the tacos weren't terrible, but they weren't something I'd crave necessarily. I read about this taco truck during a google search and thought omg this is too good to be true, but it wasn't! I tried it for the 1st time last week with the hubby and was so thrilled. We both got 4 carne asada tacos for $6. So cheap! (I've found that food is not necessarily cheaper here than in CA even with the high wages in CA just saying...) And man was it good. The meat was so well seasoned and they gave plenty of meat per street taco. The only thing missing is some darn Carne Asada fries! I wish that was a thing here! Oh and orange bang. Where can a girl get some orange bang around here? I need my whipped orange creamsicle drink stat! Or whipped pina colada drink! They do have horchata that is a plus! I'm so glad I found this place. They have coffee (lattes, americanos, cold brew, and frappes) as well as chai and hot chocolate. A decent number of flavorings are available and they have a few specialty drinks for you to try. Service is very friendly and pleasant and they were open to making adjustments to their specialty drinks to suit my preferences - I asked for milk chocolate instead of white chocolate in my campfire s'more drink, for instance, which they accommodated. The coffee was pretty good! I think the flavorings could've been mixed in a little better but after I stirred it myself I was pretty happy. Price is pretty high for a drink that kind in the size cup I was given, but that's not too atypical of food trucks. -- you're paying for convenience, I suppose. Give them a try if you see them out and about!
