Penner's saved our trip, plain and simple…read more We were driving on I-80 on a long trip and our borrowed Tundra started making strange noises coming from the front suspension. The truck owner had told us it had a broken strut but he wasn't going to replace it until after our trip. So we were worried something "bad" might have happened, driving on a busted strut. So we pulled off I-80 and spent the night in York and went to visit Penner's first thing on a Monday morning (at the recommendation of the motel front desk clerk). I understand that first thing Monday is a pretty tough time to try to squeeze into a car repair place without an appointment. All the pent-up demand from over the weekend and all. But Derek, the Service Manager understood our being-travelers-away-from-home situation and that a quick check of the suspension up on the rack could be squeezed into their schedule. The truck was driven around the block (by Derek with me inside at his request) before being put on the lift. Then up on the lift it went, and bone-dry ball joints were identified as the sound-making culprits. Some grease thru the never-used Zirk fittings on all four ball joints made most of the noise go away. The tech did confirm the strut was busted and needed to be replaced, but it could wait until we got home. So they didn't try to squeeze in a repair when one wasn't needed. Nice. Penner's couldn't have been nicer to us. They didn't take advantage of our dire situation and in fact they bent over backwards to get us band-aided up and on our way. And the price was very reasonable. Penner's made me wish I lived in York, Nebraska. Except that I'd have to become a Cornhusker fan and I don't think I'd be able to make that switch. Then we wait on some guy to return from a road call. How does that get in front of me having been here for 5 hours. Now here 10 hours and a smart mouthed tech is working. He tried to tell me off but that is a non-starter. Don't ever come here. Anywhere else has to be better.

Our invoice shows an in/out time of just over 4 hours in the shop, which included the lunch hour for the mechanic. So only took actual mechanical labor of just over 3 hours. We were billed according to the standard estimated job guide for 6.7 hours at $100 per hour! No resolve from the dealer upon our complaint, so called GM Customer Service. They opened an "escalation" review case, so we will see. Customer, beware of inflated labor charges from this dealer!!

No leaking oil, no low oil levels, no oil warning light, no oil on underbody, zero drops in my parking space. The quote sent to my phone does not include any dollar amounts. They only gave me the two dollar amounts over the phone. I asked them to print the quote but they did not want to, they said it would be about 45 pages. They charged me $63 for the worthless quote. I'll never be back. If I could rate it zero stars, I would.
