My daughter started coming here when she was around 2, after she chipped a tooth. They are absolutely fantastic! When she was littler, she sat on my lap with her head on the lap of the assistant for the cleaning. Now she's a big four year old (well, actually a small in stature four year old, but still a Big Girl), so she gets to sit in the chair and watches cartoons above her head. Like most kids, she's nervous about coming but even when she cries in the appointment, the staff goes above and beyond to make sure it ends on a good note. Case in point - today's misadventures in dental cleaning. Rod was our dental assistant, and he was amazing! He had a fun welcoming demeanor, and constantly talked to my kiddo, asking her questions and trying to keep her relaxed. He even sang "Let it Go" for her. It was her best dental prophy ever...until... when she was done having the top arcade cleaned, he went to rinse her and she somehow gagged on the water, which caused her to vomit (Hines staff, I promise we didn't infect you - she's been absolutely fine since). Rod, angel that he is, cleaned her up (with my assistance, don't worry) without missing a beat, and with a smile on his face (or so I assume - I mean he was masked, but was joking about the "Let it Go" incident, so...) And then once she calmed down, he got her to let him brush the bottom arcade with her new toothbrush! Miracles, I tell you. Dr. Vollmar was also wonderful, and gently "counted" my girl's teeth and then flossed. That's right - these folks are so good at what they do, that your kid can be totally traumatized halfway through (no fault of the staff - gagging just sometimes catches you off guard), and they still can get your kid to leave with a smile AFTER finishing the cleaning. This is the most disempowering pediatric dental office I've ever experienced. Their policies should be reviewed for Medicaid fraud. They pressured us into agreeing to treatments on healthy teeth that had received no X-rays. Their approach as stated by their surgery coordinator is 'all or nothing'--either agree to their full surgical treatment plan that can include additional work not identified prior to surgery, or else they won't see you. You basically sign your rights away before surgery and your kid can come out with all capped teeth without you agreeing. read more

Unfortunately, my experience with Hines was dissapointing. I took my child as a new patient. They determined she needed a complex treatment plan due to her permanent tooth not coming in as it should have because she is 13. They said they would devise a plan and would follow up. After not hearing from the office, I've called 5 times since November. (Initial appt in Oct) I've spoken with Latrea, and one other scheduler every time and they assure me the physician will follow up. It hasn't happened yet. read more

I just wanted to give a shout out to Hines Little Smiles office. Specifically, for special needs patients. My son has autism and severe anxiety and they were fabulous. Then, they stop accepting co-insurances but remain "active" on the websites, offering to allow you to self pay 4 times more than other trusted dentists. What magic pass do you need to get the same treatment as the 5 star review patients? My daughter *was* a new patient (a year ago) after moving from CA and leaving the pediatric dentist we love. While everything looks nice and fancy and can impress kids, this mama is the one paying the bills, and I was not impressed: 1) We've had our same dental insurance (Delta Dental) since the dawn of time. The front desk girl kept saying she could not find our account in the system. My daughter really needed to be seen so I decided to just pay out of pocket and follow up with Delta Dental after the appointment. Lo and behold, Delta Dental said our account is intact. 2) Front desk staff, technician and the dentist were not warm and friendly at all. Everyone has bad days but all 3 of these touch points and not one warm face? New patient (who was 4 and nervous about being at the dental office) and they didn't care about making us feel welcome. The dentist barely even looked at me let alone have a conversation with my daughter and try to build rapport with her. Maybe I am just comparing them to the high standard of "warm and friendly" that our old dentist office set. 3) They told me my daughter needed 2 crowns and told me to sit with biller to get an estimate of cost. Why did it take 45 mins? I just needed a range of numbers to know what to expect and I can figure out what portion my insurance would pay. It was so confusing after all of that time. The biller was all over the place and I still didn't know what the end number was and she asked me to call her back after she talked to surgery center. I will have to say, this person who is probably not usually patient facing, was the only one that seemed warm and caring. For that, I am grateful. 4) Biller told me they own the dental surgery place next door, which makes you second guess when dentist says- we can only do it next door and not in dental office They didn't want my business, and I don't want their care for my daughter. I ended up taking her to our CA dentist that I trusted. They printed out an estimated itemized bill in 5 minutes that was clear and easy to understand. read more

Have had several of our kids come through here. About a year and a half ago a friend that worked in surgery there recommended us. We had her as our surgery nurse and a good team of doctors. Next kid we had there they had a different anesthesiologist and our child and us did not care for him at all. He was rude and impatient. But we still had our friend in surgery with him so we felt safe because of her good nature with children ours in particular. They cancelled his surgery because the doctor couldn't start an iv. Our son had bandages all over. With our last child the surgery nurse was not our friend that time. That nurse didn't give us any information like our other surgery nurse. She seemed to be preoccupied by everything but our child. And the same anesthesiologist as the last time who we didn't like was our doctor again. Very forceful and condescending when he spoke to us as was the doctor. So she didn't even want to go back with nurse when it was time. When surgery was over they came and got us about 15 minutes before they were pushing us out. Daughter said she had pain and the nurse taking care of her said no she was numb and it wasn't pain. Their Doctors office looks great but from what I have seen and have heard from a previous employee, you are better off going anywhere else then here. read more

We have been seeing the Drs at this office since 2017. I've never had a bad experience; my daughter is actually excited to come and get her teeth cleaned every 6 months! We saw Dr Hines today; she was so kind and patiently answered the questions I had regarding future care. The hygienist, Janine, was so friendly and made my child feel comfortable and safe. I would highly recommend this office to anyone looking for pediatric dental care. The playroom waiting area is also a fun bonus while you wait. read more

My kids have been seen here for years. Today I was told they could not confirm our insurance is valid and I would have to pay upfront in order to be seen. So I left because our insurance is valid and I saw no evidence that the check in person even tried to confirm anything. I got home and called our insurance company and our plan is still valid. Further, the insurance company told me the dental office never called them at all. Lesson: Dont let people tell you how to spend your money! Find a place with competent staff! Wish I could give ZERO stars. This place and staff (wish I would have caught some names), because as cute as the atmosphere, an decor is, the staff an workers are so rude, an unprofessional. They quoted me almost $8,000 in co-pays, for a 6 year old with BABY teeth. I have 2 very good insurances, an they are all about the money!! They don't care about the well- being of the kid, my daughter had an abscess on her tooth, they didn't even write a prescription for the infection, like most caring dentist would. They took X-rays, we didn't even discuss a treatment plan, and they got to talking thousands of dollars. Gave me a printout of what my daughters mouth would cost with my co-pays, which was over $8000, wish I could post and attach it. Then the secretary, sitting on her cell phone took great pleasure in breaking down every cost, she was definitely trying to be funny. But little does she know, the jokes is THEM!!! Beware....the office looks so kid friendly, unfortunately the staff, are not!! They thought they was gone buy some more decor with my $8000 in co-pays....NOPE...these folks are crazy! FYI Worthington Pediatrics are AMAZING, reasonable pricing, gave my daughter an antibiotic ASAP, an fixed her teeth, and all I had to pay out of pocket was around $1000. read more

We scheduled an appointment two months ago for a procedure for our 5year old son. But they moved our appointment from 8: 30am to 11: 30am without saying anything to us until a few days before his appointment. We called the anesthesiologist about the procedure and he mentioned our appointment with him is 11: 30am. We had to keep our son awake until midnight and after that he could not eat or drink anything. Then, on the day of the procedure they moved his procedure back another 45 minutes, because the morning didn't go as scheduled. Today after our son's procedure, my husband went in and brought him out. But they didn't prepare anything for us. They threw away his two extracted molar teeth, in which they even didn't ask us whether we would want to keep them or not and they didn't send any gauze with him. I sat beside him and tried to keep his head up. I still saw a lot of blood in the drool in his mouth. We had to call them to get the things they supposed to prepare for us. So disappointed! Because this place is recommended by one of our friends from our church, we tended to trust them more. But over all we are not happy with their services. We have met the worst dental hygienist there who was rough on cleaning our son's teeth before. And I really regret choosing to do the procedure there! What they care the most about is your payment. Once you pay the deposit, they don't really care much. They will even request you to pay ahead right before your appointment instead of sending you a bill. Their estimate is always lower than you are really gonna pay. Poor customer service. read more

We absolutely love coming to this dentist for the care of our children. Every time welcomed with the nicest staff from front desk, to hygienists to dentist. They care about the kids, ask the parents for concerns and educate on childhood tooth loss/care. The kids were fancy glasses, have a TV in the ceiling to watch while their teeth are worked on, sucker and sticker and other fun added touches. Dr. Hines is amazing with kids and very personable. I will continue to recommend all my friends to come here. It's worth the drive from Marysville area 2 times a year! read more

Avoid! We were referred by my daughters dentist to have 5 baby teeth removed so she could get her braces put on. The told how much our out of pocket would be the day of surgery (which we paid-$400), and they billed my insurance the remaining. The surgery was awful, they told my daughter at any time if they needed them to stop to raise her hand, she raised both hands, and the dentist and hygienist continued to pull her baby teeth and push her hands down. I had to intervene, and ask them to give her a break, the gas did not help her. She is now scared to go get her braces, and that the only reason her regular dentist referred us to them instead of doing it himself to avoid this from happening. A year later, I received a bill for $800, and they said it was because my insurance was in contract negotiation at the time, and they did not up their contract, so that means they were out of network and the billing was in-correct, so the remaining bill was mine, they had already got all of my allowable yearly money for one person from my insurance, so now they wanted more money from me for her surgery for pulling 5 teeth ( plus I had already paid $400). So they actually were billing me & my insurance $3,000 for pulling 5 teeth, and they still are wanting to put me in collection over the $800. I have contacted the BBB & the Attorney Generals Office of OHIO, because this company is getting away with fraud, per many reviews on their website and other websites I have read. More people that have had the same issues with them need to report them like me and maybe something will be done. I have called their billing once a week to since I have received this bill in Jan 2023 to speak with them and either get a voicemail or when they look up my account I get "please hold" then I get "our billing manager has stepped away from her desk, and she will call you back when she returns." I have yet to get a call. The next month the bill says it is going to collection. How fair is this, plus my bill does not show the $400 that I paid the day of the surgery. BE WARE !!!! read more

I took my newborn to have his lip and tongue tie fixed and was so so impressed with our experience. The office is adorable and super clean. The entire staff is so friendly and personable and accommodating. The dentist took her time answering questions and making sure we felt comfortable with everything. I never felt like she was rushing to get to the next patient. After the procedure, the dentist checked in on us three different times while I was feeding the little man to make sure everything was going okay. I highly recommend!!! read more

When calling to make my child first appointment I specifically asked do you except DETAL DENTAL OF MISSOURI and MOLINA I was told YES! When I came to my child appointment May 14 2019 I was told you won't except MOLINA unless my child would have to use anesthesia. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Majority of payment would come from DETAL DENTAL so what is your problem where you can only use MOLINA if she had cavities??? If my child had any cavities MOLINA would have covered the remaining balance of what DETAL DENTAL DOESN'T COVER. It shouldn't take for my child to be sedated for you to accept her secondary insurance. I drove approximately 10 miles from where I live. This was truly a waste of time and gas. My suggestion to your staff who answers the phone be specific and make sure you tell people upfront don't wait to tell them in person. read more

We love Hines! Dr. Monica is fantastic, as is all the staff. On our last visit Amanda took care of us and was so amazing in the way she explained everything to my 5 year old. Because everything is geared to kids its less scary and intimidating for them - my kids love going! We went to Hines on a referral by another dentist who told me my kinds had multiple cavities and there was nothing they could do. My daughters are 2 1/2 and 5. While my wife and I love our dentist we wanted a pediatric dentist for our kids. The care they've recieved at Hines Little Smiles has been outstanding. Our daughters enjoy going to the dentist and are forming good oral hygiene habits that are reinforced with every visit. Our girls get excited when their appointments are coming up and that's a great outlook on going to the dentist. I really wanted to love this practice because I heard so many great things about them. But from the start I've had a bad impression. The first time I called to schedule, no one answered. I left a voicemail, no returned call. A friend recommended I send a request from the website, to which I did get a call back. Only they refused to schedule if I didn't have my ID number immediately available. Which meant, I had to call back again. Now I will say, the facility and staff I dealt with the day of my son's appointment was great. However the communication is a problem. There's no reminders for appointments made 6 months in advance. Yes, I should have my schedule together, but it's right after the holidays and things are crazy. Plus I somehow managed to have the appointment in my calendar for 3 separate dates. Ok great, call to confirm the appointment. They close early on Fridays, so no luck there. Call first thing on Monday. And get voicemail again. Now it's past the 48 hour mark, I've received a text that we missed our appointment plus a nasty letter. I'm sorry folks, we won't be back. In a day and age where there are SO MANY options to have reminders texted, it's unacceptable to only have a reminder texted 6 months before the scheduled appointment. Oh and return your phone calls, it's unprofessional not to. read more

We have been with the practice for about 5 years. All of the staff (dentists to receptionists) are fantastic and the office is designed for children. However, over the past two years, it has become very difficult to to schedule an appointment in a reasonable time frame. Appointments that work for school age children or working parents are practically non-existent and those willing to take any time still have have a challenge. I just tried to reschedule an appointment that was scheduled for May 20th, and the next available appointment is not until Aug 18th (three months later!). It is an efficiently run office, but they just have too many patients. If your child needs a specialized setting, then this is the place to go. If your child can handle a more traditional office, go that route. read more

My wife took my daughter here for a dental check up. They came home with an estimate for $450.00 dollars for fillings. I looked up the teeth online and figured out that the teeth of concern would fall out in 2 years or less. My first question is why is this a necessary procedure. A pretty basic question that a professional should be able to answer. I called the receptionists and asked that very question. I was told that the dentist would call me back. I never received that phone call, instead I received a letter stating that "since I questioned the diagnosis, and felt like I was being nickel-ed and dime-ed(a statement that never crossed my lips because my insurance covered 100% of costs associated with the procedure) they felt that we should no longer have a business relationship." So, in short, they lack the self esteem to handle basic dental questions without assuming the question is an inquest of their professional capability. Lacked true concern for my daughters dental health by refusing to see her after questioned instead of simply answering a general question. Used the situation instead to catered to their own narcissistic ego trip. This dentist office lacks the professionalism and maturity to handle concerned parent questions. 1 STAR for answering the phone. Me pediatrician recommended this office, so I called to schedule a 1st appointment for my son who just turned 1. As soon as I said I had Medicaid insurance (a benefit received from adopting a child from the Foster Care System) the lady said they had a huge waiting list and I could find another dentist in my area if I did a search... I explained that my Pediatrician had referred him since he just turned 1 and it was only a check up. She again talked about the HUGE waiting list and said that the ONLY exception was that if my child had a referral for extensive dentistry work then they MIGHT consider.... When I said: "would you accept with private insurance?", she said, we could schedule with no problem... Very sad and appalling office "policy" and insurance discrimination! read more

I recently left Hines and am switching my son over to Clark Family Dental. They couldn't have given a crap less about keeping my business! I just can't get over their hours of business. Clark is open later several days a week. Sorry I'm not a negligent parent who has no qualms about taking my kid out of school for a dental appointment. When I tried to reschedule the appointment due to a conflict, they told me it would be longer than 6 months! That means they wanted my son to go over A YEAR without seeing a dentist! Several months ago he had a dental emergency and they got us right in. I couldn't believe this. Clark couldn't get us in before June either (for a first time, after 4 appointment). What is wrong with all of the dentists around here?! This is crazy!! I called my old dentist from KY and, even though my son was never a patient there, they worked us in for the week we will be visiting family at Christmas. THAT is how you do business.
