I live in Fort Lauderdale and was able to locate The Cohen Law Group after my then-homeowners insurance company (now defunct FedNat) refused to provide me the proper coverage I had paid them for after it was determined that my original Spanish-tile roof (built in 2000) was failing after Hurricane Ian passed. I initially filed a claim with FedNat due to water incessantly leaking inside my home's living room whenever it rained, they had sent their adjusters, and after their analysis, mailed me a check for $200....are you kidding me!? That was when I knew I needed expert help in these types of situations, and that's when the Cohen Law Group stepped in. Christopher Cohen was assigned to my case, and he was beyond amenable to my needs. He explained things to me regarding my case in a clear & concise manner, and made sure I was fully aware of every facet of my case. He made it extremely convenient for me to get a hold of him if I had any additional questions at any time regarding my case, and he even provided me with his personal cell. She came in to my house and seemed really nice and comforting after in got rear ended. It wasn't until after I signed all the paperwork and they referred me to therapy that the nightmare started. Not only did I never got to speak to whoever the attorney handling my case was but I never knew who I was supposed to speak to when I had questions. I had to pay to get my own Police Report because they said they were having trouble getting access to the report and I only found this out because i called and tried to get information on the case . That should have been my first clue. then i had to send it to them and had to email and call several times to see if they received it. I felt like I was handling my own case. Whenever I called and asked to speak to the Attorney or just get his/her name they just said the attorney is in a meeting. I would call again and then this GHETTO CHICK picks up the phone and tells that they are working on my case and will call me when they can and if i don't like it I can withdraw the case and go somewhere else. Meanwhile I'm in therapy racking up bills that I ended paying for by the way and I've never spoken to the lawyer and they just dropped the case without any notice. They sent an ex-law enforcement attorney or representative to my house to speak with me more about my case who certainly did not do a good job selling their service. He seemed very uncaring and overall not interested in my case - Like he was "only looking for a paycheck" - type of experience. At this point I began to feel like I had made the wrong choice in what lawfirm I contacted. In my specific situation I was ticketed in an auto-accident which I believe was not my fault - after all, the FHP officer was not on the scene when it occurred - and I have two witnesses that corroborate my side of the story (one of which left before the officer arrived to the accident - She still cared enough to approach me after to give me her name and contact information). Either way, I stuck with it and filled out all of the paperwork while this man was in my house even after it seemed to me that I was nothing but a number to him. They came highly recommended from a friend. At this point it had already been maybe a month since my accident - I'm waiting patiently for surgery - and have no vehicle! What else was I going to do? Anyway - a couple of weeks pass and I get a letter in the mail from Jacobs & Goodman saying that they received the full report from FHP and that it did not corroborate my side of the story and that they were no longer interested in representing me!! What! Are you kidding me!? - I told them from the beginning that I felt I was wrongfully ticketed in the accident and even the FHP officer involved told me while she was giving me the ticket "Not to pay it, and to take it to court" because after speaking with the witnesses she felt that "it wasn't enecessarily my fault and I would most likely beat the ticket." -Her words (Trooper Honeyghon, Alicia). Now, it's been nearly 2 months since my accident. I have no car, no means to get anywhere that I need to... I have no health insurance. I'm still waiting to get surgery (Broken Femur). My auto insurance provider (Infinity Insurance) will not return any of my calls (I've called more than 10 times, left multiple messages) - And to top it off now I do not have an attorney!! WORST Experience ever! In summary, I do not recommend Jacobs & Goodman at all period! The last thing I needed in this situation was something else to complicate things - Like having an attorney one day (who seemed to be on my side) and the next day - not. It's just ridiculous! I have pictures that corroborate my side of the story with tread marks from the accident that show I was not in the other vehicles lane - I have an FHP officer who told me to take it to court because she "didn't think it was my fault , but had to give me the ticket because she was not there." (And witnesses that heard her tell me this) ..And also two witnesses from the accident on my side as well. Losing hope fast and don't know what to do!
