I never expected I could actually win custody of my kids given the precedent that had already been set. On paper, the odds were not in my favor. Opposing counsel looked impressive: all the accolades, the certifications, the recognition. He was not someone I was looking forward to battling. I started my case pro se because I had so little hope of any real success. Then the first hearing got scheduled, and while I consider myself competent, I knew I needed someone to actually represent me. I spoke with 10 lawyers. Richard Mockler was the only one worth a damn. He called me in the early hours of the morning, and I knew immediately he was the one I wanted in my corner. I could tell just from talking to him that he was deeply well-versed in child custody law, and then I saw all the accolades, certificates, and awards to back it up. But he's not just a great lawyer. He's a great human, and I don't say that lightly. I've had the unfortunate experience of lawyers who pretended to care. Richard actually does, and he proves it time and time again. He's the king of the rockstars in that office, and it's obvious he's built the right team around him. It would be easy to discount this review because I won and I'm happy. But I fully expected to lose. I was hoping to walk away with a few concessions at best. I would have written this review word for word either way. I count myself lucky to have even had the chance to meet Richard at all. Then there's his partner, Angela Leiner, who was on nearly every call with me and Richard. She's the whole package too. It became clear fast that she was the one keeping the case centered and moving forward. She was the voice of reason every time I felt like jumping off a ledge. She doesn't sugarcoat anything, and she still has a way of making you feel heard and valued. I made plenty of mistakes along the way, and she kept me focused and moving smartly forward the entire time. She held it together for all of us. Hali was the first paralegal I worked with, and she was professional and knowledgeable from the very first exchange. Her answers were insightful, and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. She actually mapped out a whole process for handling my documents that stopped me from making further mistakes. A true Rockstar and an excellent point of contact. Katherine spent countless hours with me preparing motions and making sure every document was in order. Everything she produced was expert-level. She hit every single deadline, even when it meant working late or putting in extra time with me. She is the pillar of professionalism in that office. I also have to give a special shout-out to the other paralegals and office staff, who were incredibly responsive to every request. They didn't waste a minute or drop a single ball. Now due to a summons file by an attorney from the Butash Law Group out of Lutz Florida, I have to defend my integrity, my morals and research state statues that retaliation would not be an option for my opinion of this matter. We are all struggling with mental health and in such a high risk society. I am personally seeking therapy until my court date. It is not easy to stay focused on all your responsibilities When lies about your financial morals are in question to the point that it can influence the court of public opinion in negatively way against a citizen of the United States of America. Therefore a citizen in situations like this one, now have to break from their normal routine and send time and money defending such acts. I am hurt, I am disgusted that any company practicing business under the United States flag would do this to someone that has worked years in a professional capacity to make sure that they remain a pillar of the community and a well trusted human being with that said, this defamation of character will be brought to the Florida Bar Association.
