I would not recommend Hinckley Leisure Centre for the following reasons:
* Poor customer relationship management
* Consistent errors in payment
* I paid £13 for an induction which was not delivered (unless you call 'so you've used a gym before, right? I'll let you get on then' as an 'induction')
* Broken equipment has not been removed from the gym
* Ventilation in the gym is inadequate and it smells damp and musty
* Staff are not always on the gym floor to assist customers use the equipment correctly
* Equipment does not appear to be cleaned regularly and there are no facilities to clean the equipment yourself
This is my experience of Hinckley Leisure Centre:
I started a membership in February (£28.15 a month for a full membership including gym, swim and classes). When I went to the leisure centre, my card would not let me in and I was informed that my direct debit had not been paid; however it was clear from my bank statement that it had gone out a couple of days prior. The leisure centre looked into this further and, confusingly, said that they had actually overcharged me and said I needed to go into the bank myself and reclaim the money, which I did.
They assured me that the issue was resolved. However the next time I visited the centre, I was denied entry a second time; again, they said that my direct debit had not gone out. They then said they would call me to discuss the issue, but never did.
I tried to use the centre again, only to be informed that my membership had been cancelled but I could use the gym on that occasion.
I went in on another occasion to resolve the issue once and for all, stating that my membership had been started in error and I would like it to be continued. They then told me that they would have to start up a new membership on a higher rate (£37 something) and that I would have to pay admin fees and for an induction again! (I would consider paying this much for a high end sports facility, but not a small community leisure centre with a limited offering).
When I stated that I had never asked for the membership to be cancelled and was not willing to pay more for the same service and certainly not willing to pay admin fees and all the rest of it again, I was informed that the admin fee is non-negotiable!
