Their chilly tofu is my favorite food in Flagstaff. When my husband and I go out to eat we always share dishes so we can try more but here we each have to get our own entree of chilly tofu. We get it at spice level 4/5 and it's absolutely delicious. As is, they are only open for a short time from 5-9pm for dinner, yet as soon as we sat down, we were neglected as a table of two. We watched as two parties of 2 and 4 sat down after us and were given menus and free appetizers before us. On top of that, we ordered a mango lassi (which was heavily watered down) well ahead of one of the tables, and had to wait about 20 minutes to receive ours after they received theirs (note we also had to remind them twice!) I understand the kitchen being busy and them alerting us of it, but this absolute neglect felt very demeaning as a dine-in customer. This place was amazing. It's the best Indian cuisine we've had anywhere so far! The veg and non veg combo for 2 was enough for at least 3 people realistically, and currently less than $40, which we feel was completely fair considering how much you get and the awesome variety of dishes it includes. Service was swift, attentive and kind. Several people came up to the table to check in as we ate, everything on the platter was explained when it came out and it all ranged taste wise from tasty to absolutely delicious. After checking in to the Embassy Suites we needed dinner. We saw this place across the street so I asked the front desk staff if they'd tried it. They said it was very good, so we decided to give it a try. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Biryani, Aloo Gobi, Lamb Samosa, and various different Naans. The food was good. The prices were a bit on the pricey side considering the strip mall location and portion sizes. I'm not sure if this is because I ordered take away... so, I'll keep the rating on the higher side. The staff were quite friendly and accommodating. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, and the place is nice and clean and well decorated. I finally had the chance to visit this restaurant after wanting to do so during my last trip to the area. It was absolutely worth the wait! The onion pakora was a perfect appetizer, as it was crisp without being greasy. The chana masala at "medium-plus" spice level packed more heat than the "hot" spice level at many other Indian spots I have tried in Florida. Bravo! Both the basmati rice and papadum were subtly seasoned with cumin seeds, adding just the right depth of flavor to round out the meal. Every bite of my dinner reflected care and quality. I had the most incredible experience at this restaurant. It was a snowy day and I visited this place with my family for lunch. Firstly, they have the sweetest staff and the owner, Ramesh P. is the nicest. On to our orders, we started with veg samosa. And usually I don't expect much when it comes to samosa as it's always hit or miss i.e, either the shell is good and the filling not so much or vice versa. But the samosa we had over here were delicious with perfect balance of crispy golden shell and flavorful filling. These were so good that we ordered more. Plus it came with 3 different chutneys (sauce)!!! Too good to be true! Next we moved on to the entrees: 2 chicken steam momo: served in an authentic bamboo serving basket. Again, out of the park! It was served hot and just delicious. We devoured this in a min! chicken and veg thukpa: the broth was rich concoction of herbs and spices and notable thing was the broth for chicken and veg didn't taste the same! Somehow both had distinct taste and they were cooked to perfection! It's really easy to overlook the thukpa! chicken curry with rice and naan: freshly made and customized to taste! chicken chowmein: extra spicy, and again this was was hands down the best I've had in a while, boasting authentic nepali taste. Additional points for serving the chicken meant for the chowmein. To end on a sweet note, we had the masala chai which was a fitting conclusion to a delightful culinary journey. The butter chicken (they call it in a different name, but basically just butter chicken that we're used to) Just wow, I requested a level 5 spice, which was granted and omg it's a perfect dip for your Naan bread too. The Mango Lassi, OMG, why can't we have this in Phoenix? I mean, the taste is so different and sooo good. Average South Asian food, comparable to the other place down the road. Indian dishes are still too creamy. On a second visit I tried their Himalayan (Nepali?) specialties hoping those would be better, but the momo and chau-chau were nothing special. I've had versions where the noodles and dumplings are freshly made, and this wasn't it. That said, the bar for Asian food in Flagstaff is really low, so this is still about as good as it gets here. To their credit, they package things for takeout/delivery very well, wrapping things multiple times so they don't leak. read more

Pleasant surprise to find Himalayan food so we took the dive. The menu was large and broken up from Indian to Himalayan. We both ordered Himalayan and it was yummy. Both the dishes in the picture are champs of the litter. Comparable to other Himalayan restaurants I have been too. Service was ok...Started strong but faded. Food was taken out one at a time in wide gaps. Would have preferred all at once but I get it. I had ordered Basmati rice and it came out halfway through meal. If you write sown our order, reference it. As it is, I could have given this 3 stars but I only took off one star due to them being busy. Ambiance was nice and welcoming. It was clean and well kept. Me and my kids spent 4 days in Flagstaff AZ and ate at Himalayan Grill two days in a row. The menu was HUGE. I love a restaurant who offers vegetarian and vegan options. Service was great. The food took about 20 minutes to get to the table, which I'm ok with because it's being made fresh. The restaurant is very humble and quaint. A little hole in the wall GEM. Went to the restaurant at the appropriate time, only to be told that the platform that we used (the one linked in their website) "doesn't work". There was no offer to quickly make our order or an apology about this very inconvenient problem that the restaurant seemed to already know about. It wasn't even super busy. We left with no food, had to cancel our credit card order through the app, and still had a hungry family. The owner yelled at us after they forgot our samosa. He argued that we didn't order them in the first place. It's literally the only thing in the menu that's any good. ALL of the dishes I've gotten there have been watery and lacking flavor which is saying a lot. Ok as this place was literally next door to my motel on a recent trip to Flagstaff, and as I love Indian Cuisine, I decided to try it out. I ordered my food to go as it was close to closing time when I arrived. I was greeted by staff and I believe possibly the owner. My order was taken and my food arrived in less than 20 minutes. I had ordered two orders of the Garlic Naan, and Chicken Chili. It smelled delicious, and it was hot. A short walk back to my room, and I was ready to partake. The Naan was hot and fresh, it was a bit thicker than Naan I'm used too, and I'm pretty sure it's premade and then just heated at the restaurant, but it was tasty, and the individual pieces were quite large. I would have liked a bit more garlic butter on it, but it was quite tasty for sure. At first I thought my order of Chicken Chili seemed small, but there was actually quite a bit of food in the container, and it was accompanied by a good amount of fragrant rice. The rice was quite dry, but had a nice flavor to it. The entree was OK, some of the chicken was way overcooked and dry. The flavor was ok but a tad salty, I got it at spice level 4 which was spicy but not overly so. I would probably go here again, but maybe not so close to closing time. I believe there is a lunch buffet, so perhaps I'll try that next time. It is locally owned which is another positive for me.if you like Indian Cuisine, this would be worth a try if you're in Flagstaff. read more

Ordered takeout from this place during our stay in town. We called in our order and then walked in to pick it up. The staff was very polite and helpful. They sent us home with plates and utensils. They took the time to saran wrap the to-go boxes so the curries didn't leak out in the bag. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma and the chicken Momos. Everything was delicious! I've never had Nepalese food but have always wanted to try momos so when we were in Flagstaff I wanted to get a few dishes from here. We got a to go order and initially had some difficulty even getting a hold of someone on the phone. The phone kept disconnecting. On the third try someone finally answered the phone. It's true that third time's a charm! The food was well labeled, thoughtfully and securely packaged. I appreciated that the noodle dishes were wrapped in foil, then boxed up in Styrofoam and then given an extra plastic wrap layer over the box. No way you're going to get spills on the car ride back! We got the chicken momos, lamb chau chau and chicken thupka. Everything smelled so wonderful when we opened up the packages and tasted even better! I love the combination of spices used in Nepalese cuisine. It's somewhat of a cross between Indian and Middle Eastern perhaps. The lamb packed a punch with its bold flavors and the chicken soup, while also having a delightful yet distinct taste, was a little more delicate tasting. Himalayan Grill in Flagstaff is a favorite for their Vegetable Korma, which I always get here. It's hands down the best I've had for this dish compared to other places I've tried--flavorful, creamy, and perfectly balanced. While their spice levels are decent, I generally prefer more heat, but the dish still satisfies. The last time I visited, I wasn't feeling great, so I got a 3 out of 5, but usually, I ask for a level 5 spice, which is what I recommend if you enjoy a bit more kick. The restaurant's decor adds to the experience, making it a pleasant place to eat. If you go towards the end of the night, be prepared to order to-go rven if there's still be time to sit and eat, which is understandable. The staff is always courteous and welcoming. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend giving their Vegetable Korma a try--it's consistently great! read more
