My experience at Himalayan Grill and Bar in Killeen was not favorable. My wife with my son took me there for Father's Day appreciation. When we arrived and were greeted, we were then directed to sit at a table that needed to be wiped off. I notified the greeter/waitress of this, and she commenced to wipe it down. We were then given menus. I know they have only been at the building for a couple of weeks or so, but they should have had the foresight to laminate the menus. For the menus had food particles and such on them. Nevertheless, my wife and son ordered the Aloo Gobi and I ordered the Gobi Manchurian. We also ordered some Vegetable fritters and my son ordered a mango lassi. The fritters were fine, but the mango lassi was as thin as water and had very little taste. When our main meals came 15 to 20 minutes later, their meals were hot with steam coming from them, while mine was room temperature at best. Plus, my wife and son were given a single bowl to share their rice from, with the comment that they could ask for more if needed. I'm not sure why we each couldn't get a separate bowl of rice. Any way my wife and son were enjoying their meals, but I couldn't enjoy mine because it was tepid bordering on cold. About 15 minutes or so, the man that brought our food out (not sure if he was the owner or not), noticed my plate was hardly touched. I then told him that my wife and son's meals came out hot, but mine didn't. At first, he seemed not to understand, because he remarked about the spices coming from Nepal or wherever. Then I explained further and he seemed to realize what I meant. He gave an uncomfortable smile/chuckle and then suggested that he could make me another plate. I refused, because by the time he came back to check on us -- and they only had two other tables to serve -- my wife and son were just about done with their meals. I asked for the bill because I was ready to go. My wife treated, but I was astonished at the amount of the bill. $87. I don't know if my wife added a hefty gratuity or not. If she did, she shouldn't have, because the quality of the meal and the service that we received was not commensurate to the value placed upon it. They won't be seeing me for a very long time. I miss the Red Onion Indian Bistro that we used to have in Killeen. read more
