The room was very comfortable. We had a king size bed. The air conditioning wasn't too loud although a little bit on the loud side but we're able to sleep through it. The service is really nice, our TV didn't work great and they did help to fix it by giving us a different room. Really great service at the front desk. They do charge for breakfast here and there's no coffee station in the evening or tea Station but there is water in the lobby. Nice hotel and was very comfortable here. read more

I'm no pushover when it comes to hotels. . .just see my other reviews for this chain in other locations. But this one? Super nice. The staff is well-trained, competent, and helpful. Without exception, they were on point and delivering service. The room was clean and not worn out, and everything worked as expected. The shower was perhaps the best shower I've had in months! The hallway carpet is showing a bit of wear, but not enough to take away a full 5 stars. . .you'll be completely pleased if you stay here. read more

Stayed here a few weeks back for my daughter's IWCOA wrestling event. The room was great, VERY clean and nice. Everything worked great and we had no problem with noise or anyone else on our floor. We got the kind suite which included the king side bed and a full pull out couch (sleeps 4). There were only two issues we had while we stayed there. 1 - I booked a room for 3 people and they didn't leave pillows or blankets for the pull out couch there. A few calls and several hours later we were told to come down to get a blanket but they were out of pillows (they were supposed to bring it up to our room originally). 2 - the breakfast food isn't really restocked and every day we went there was a low quantity of everything. Luckily we didn't need much because girls didn't want to eat heavy and I was snacking most of the day at the BOS center, but it would've been nice for guests not to just wait around for stuff. The kitchen is also super small where everything was. Overall I'd say we had a great stay and the good outweighed the bad. I felt safe there and that was what I was most worried about. Pretty nice Hilton property on the outskirts of Springfield, Illinois. We had come from St. Louis and a Cubs-Card game ... where we had stayed at another Hilton property in St. Louis, so we had a direct comparison ... and the Hilton in Springfield won hands down. The Springfield Hilton Garden Inn is not a luxury hotel by any means but it held its own as a nice budget friendly option. Free coffee downstairs in the morning, a fitness room with old but serviceable equipment, a pool if you were looking for that, and a six-day a week restaurant if you wanted to eat in. So the Springfield Garden Inn had everything we needed. If they wanted to change it up vis-a-vis the competition, they should consider converting the full service restaurant into a free continental breakfast place ... that would set them apart. But all in all we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. read more

When you arrive at the hotel it looks great at the lobby and eating areas . The carpet in the elevator was horrendous, it looks very worn and dirty . The room is also very outdated and worn . It definitely needs a complete renovation . Bathroom is clean but it's very , very old and outdated . I will say slept good . I don't think I'll stay here again though . read more

Needs upgrade of both interior and management. The interior is dated and in need of upgrade. Old carpet, no USB plugs, discolored or moldy grout in bathroom, warn out chairs in the lobby, etc. The staff that we encountered in the hotel seemed lazy and ill-trained. Did not serve coffee in restaurant. You had to get your own in a paper cup. Breakfast buffet food was overcooked. Food service staff didn't know and didn't serve what was on the menu. Dirty tables in dining area that staff walked past over and over again in lieu of focusing on their phones. Front desk clerk was pleasant, but had greasy hair to his shoulders and did not resemble front desk material. Management obviously has low standards. Hotel Staff seem to be more interested in their phones instead of taking care of customers. My husband is a Diamond member, from actual stays not a credit card, and yet he is not acknowledged as a diamond member and must ask for water and snack choice. Hotel Staff at breakfast had to be asked to place an order. We were the only ones eating and instead of clearing dirty tables staff stood around and talked or were on their phones the entire time we were there for breakfast. Sad state for Hilton, makes me want to change to Marriott. I would not recommend this place in its current state. read more

This hotel could have used a remodeling about 10 years ago. Carpets are worn out and stained, continental breakfast is skimpy, a/c is weak (in a 90-degree summer). The breakfast I ordered (2 eggs, 3 strips bacon, fried potatoes) was fine and cost $11.88. When I checked out however, the hotel had charged me for the breakfast, despite saying Diamond members received breakfast for free. The place wasn't bad enough for me to leave, but next time I come to Springfield, I'll be staying somewhere else. read more

I've been a Hilton Honors member for many years and I have always had the best experiences no matter where I stood. Unfortunately this is the first time I was not impressed at all. First off the room was not made up when I came back in for the night. There was no toiletries or towels and even the snack bar was not filled up. When I did call the operator they stated that things have changed since Hilton is now with another company and that they don't clean the rooms everyday any longer. Not cool for me as I pay a lot of money not to get a clean room at the end of the day. That was strike one, and when I asked if they can still come I was told probably not. The snacks also (which is part of my perks) is now not available after certain times. Strike two. And lastly when I came in to the room the following night, I once again had to call downstairs as nothing again, was done. I was told again, they clean every few days. STRIKE THREE, so as of today I am changing to La Quinta as they seem to be better prepared at guest services. I am highly disappointed as I just spent over $900 for a few nights. This will not happen again as Hilton just lost. read more

Can I rate this hotel negative stars? If I could I would. My wife and I stayed in room 403 the night of July 24th. In our rush to checkout I neglected to take a file box I was transporting during our interstate move. Later that day I realized my oversight and called the hotel to make sure they had found the box. During my conversation with the front desk I urged them to lock the box up in a secure location until I could retrieve it. At this time we were over 300 miles from the hotel and preparing to close on our new home. I returned to the hotel on the 26th, immediately after our closing and picked the box up. We had some expensive jewelry, documents, and cash in the box. I checked to make sure the jewelry was still there brought the box home and put it in my office. This past week I had occasion to retrieve the cash, only to find the envelope I kept it in was empty. Someone who works in the hotel had stolen $2,500 dollars. I called the hotel and left a message for the manager with the front desk staff. Obviously they don't care one bit because I never received a call from hotel management. I filed a report with the Springfield, IL police, but so far, nothing. Bottom line, run away from this hotel which is obviously staffed with thieves and management that doesn't care. read more

LISTEN.... just don't. They need to pull alllll of that carpet up in the rooms and in the hallways... it's is funky! Mad odors all around. They allow pets, so make sure you check your bedding to ensure the linens are clean. They gave me a room that was so filthy... I mean stinking filthy. There was stains all on the walls, the shower curtain... the sheets had oiss stains. I am a Hilton Rewards member and usually stay at Hampton Inn but thought I would try this one for my business trip to Springfield. It was the worst night's sleep I have ever had at a hotel! Receptionist was quite rude. Room looked clean but smelled of smoke (although it is a nonsmoking room). The draperies do not close, so the only "privacy" is from sheer curtains. The noise from the highway never stops, so between the parking lot lights and the noise it was difficult to sleep. The worst part was the bed...rock hard with super thin pillows. I woke up with a terrible backache. The diningroom was empty at dinner and I could see why. Food was okay but overpriced ($17 for a BBQ sandwich). The chairs were worn, filthy, and 6 inches too low for the table. Breakfast waffle was thin, cold, and had burned pieces from a previous waffle baked into it. Coffee was bitter. I came to Springfield IL for an overnight trip to handle some personal business and visit with friends, and I used my Hilton Honors points to book a room at this hotel. I upgraded to a guest room with complimentary snacks and drinks. The hotel room was nice and the selection of snacks was terrific. The bed was comfortable and sturdy, so I slept very well. Due to covid-19, I did not have much contact with the hotel staff, except to schedule my wake up call for the next morning. I was disappointed when the to go breakfast pick up was not available as promised by the hotel in the bulletin board in the lobby as you walk in the following morning, so I just took some complimentary coffee to go. As a Diamond status Hilton Honors member, little things like a complimentary breakfast are important to me. I understand not having the breakfast buffet due to covid-19, but a simple to-go breakfast bag or pack would have been nice for guests. My hotel stay was fine other than that. I would come back here again if I find myself in Springfield IL visiting friends. read more

I've stayed at resort-type hotels over the years that did not have as nice of an in-room whirlpool tub like this hotel. Very nice, easy to use, comfortable, and clean. And being in the shadows of the Dallman coal-fired electric plant this area is definitely no resort! The bed is also comfortable although the room is showing a little wear and tear. The shower is nice with a solid, flat tub floor and plenty of hot water and pressure. The vanity is large enough to spread out your stuff too. The dining room is very bright with a lot of windows and comfortable chairs and tables. This is one of the main reasons I seek out Hilton Garden Inns when travelling. The breakfast itself was good as well. I like the option to get eggs from the buffet or to get made to order eggs like over easy or omelets. Hilton does it again. So yeah I may prefer the Hilton branding over all other hotels. However, that does not mean I only consider them alone. We recently stayed here over night for an event locally. Upon check in we we're greeted promptly. Front desk staff did well during check-in. Our room was not ready and we did have to wait a bit (nothing to long), although house keeping did move exceptionally quick to get our room ready while we checked-in. This inconvenience was encountered during a time where most of all hotels in the area were "sold out" so getting a room that was not ready was no surprise. The room was clean and up to my standard upon walking in the room. I would definitely stay here again. The front desk staff made sure to acknowledge my Hilton Honors status and get me my perks (which is something most hotels don't, but should!) During our stay the hotel was quiet which, yes, I know is not something about the hotel, but more-so the guests present. While it may not be the "best" hotel, I will say it is a nice hotel. We weren't able to enjoy the made-to-order style breakfast, although I have stayed with many Garden Inn's before so I would expect the same quality. We also did not utilize the pool either, so I cannot speak to that either. read more

My family of 6 checked in April 2nd for 2 night stay because our team was staying there. The hotel is pricey, not maintained, and has alot of issues. They rooms were not very clean. There are placards in the rooms stating they dont clean the rooms due to "covid", which makes no sense. The first morning my 7 year old went to wipe steam off off the mirror in bathroom and was stuck by a dirty drug syringe stuff behind the mirror with several others, when they fell out. We immediately called for help and medical services and was told they general manager and medical services were on the way. 15 minutes later, no one responded, we got our daughter medical treatement ourselves and I located the general manger behind the breakfast bar checking on the scrambled eggs. I was then told i should just take her to the hospital and someone would come remove the needles "sometime today, before the end if the day, and just dont touch them". I demanded someone come remove them immediately, and got no response, so i took them to the front desk, at which time I also got no response. Obviously we were packing to leave anyway, but the general manager had the never to come to the room to "check it out" and when voiced our issues we were told "we could leave". Which of coarse we did. Lots of hotels in Springfield, this one is falling apart, has dirty syringes in the rooms, and the management doent care. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

The only drawback was that this Hilton property was pricier than the Hampton Inns we normally stay at and didn't come close to those expectations! The breakfast buffet looked great but the coffee was the worst I have experienced in many years - bitter. There was no Half & Half - only coffee mate with all that added sweeteners. Once seated we just went the buffet route because we needed to get to a conference and only had about 45 minutes. Buffet was really expensive ($19.50pp) and similar quality as to what you'd find at a Holiday Inn. We had to wait quite awhile for our check, as the waitress was busy and forgot. This hotel's hot tub has been "out of order" for over a year. They should mention that on their website. The bed had a crater in it. They are "adjustable" for firmness but even adjusting the bed didn't help. I slept on top of a pillow in the crater and was almost on a level plane. The TV is micro compared to the room and distance from the bed. Someone tried gaining access to our room twice and knocked on our door at 2 am. Mediocre at best. read more

Spend 2 nights here last week on business. Have stayed here before and it will be my first choice the next time I am staying in Springfield. The over standard of the hotel is high it's always clean and well maintained. During this COVID-19 issue it has maintained it's standard if not improved it. I had no issues with the cleanliness or staff I found them to be very friendly, helpful and courteous. While not all of the amenities are available currently that was to be expected. The staff was helpful and friendly and the cleanliness was excellent. I couldn't decide if I would give this 4 or 5 stars. I did decide on 5 based on the overall friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They deserve the rating and Hilton hopefully Hilton will recognize them their work during these times. read more

I use to stay here regularly for business trips. It was always clean and the staff helpful and accommodating. I haven't traveled in a couple years due to COiD. I came down for a personal stay and was rather disappointed. Was not recognized as a Hilton Diamond Member. Pool area was cold and not picked up . While visiting with family in the lobby in the evening, the Evening staff, although friendly seemed to smell of marijuana after disappearing a few times. Hotel room and cleanliness were just not what I remember it being. Condiments for coffee were old. Sugar was clumped. Creamer expired and curled. Ugh. Breakfast was very disappointing compared to use to be. Such a shame that these nice hotels start going downhill. read more

There are several Hilton properties in Springfield but I chose the Garden Inn because this brand is supposed to be a step up from the Hampton Inn. That may not be accurate given my experience there. I had checked in and was not greeted as a Gold member, not really an issue but not having stayed at Garden Inn's very much I wasn't aware of the added benefits you get. So instead of having the option of having complementary breakfast every morning of my stay or 750 points, I was just give the points by default. I had asked the General Manager (when he was working the counter and unfortunately on the last night of my stay) if breakfast was an option he said yes. I told him I wasn't give that option and he offered to give me the breakfast in lieu of the points, but by this time the points were worth more than the $10 breakfast for one morning. No apologies, no trying to make it better... guess that is just the hospitality culture we can expect from this location. The bed for me was not comfortable. It was a memory foam bed and I am not a fan of that. My sleep quality was lacking due to this but once you get tired enough you can sleep through anything. Otherwise the room was nice, clean, had a fridge and microwave and quiet. I used the gym one afternoon for a quick walk on the treadmill. The TV on the treadmill doesn't work so bring your tablet or phone if you don't want to stare at yourself in the mirror the entire time. They do have a TV in the room but its all the way to the left and you would end up straining your next to watch it. I did have dinner there my first night as well, which is a nice option when you don't want to leave the hotel. The food and service met my expectations but one small thing (and this is being knit picky now) is that the bar tender and another employee where talking by the bar about other employee's time off. I get that when it's slow you need to pass time, but this could have been done in a different area or with a different topic. I am coming back for work and have other colleagues coming back. I have already told them to avoid this location and I will be trying the Hampton Inn next time and hoping for a better experience. read more

I stayed at the Hilton Garden for several nights in September. The entire staff were all really friendly and helpful. My room was beautiful and the bed was super comfortable. Everything was spotless. I was traveling alone, to visit family and especially appreciated the wonderful people at the front desk. They could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Angela, Deedee during the day and Nicole at night. They should all be given raises for going above and beyond to provide that Hilton quality. Compared to other HGI property's this one is underwhelming. Room furniture is outdated. Fitness center is small, outdated & not 24 hour. While other HGI's have been reopening their restaurants in Illinois this one is still only offering only a cold grab & go. read more

I should have left before I walked in to book a room for the night just by the way the outside parking lot looked. Trash everywhere and trash cans out front were overflowing! We earned free nights through hotels.com, and do far, we are very pleased with our accommodations. We don't know what kind of mattress thry have. But it has this firmness dial.. which did not seem to work.. But I found it to be comfortable. KEURIG coffee maker in the room.. Refrigerator and microwave oven. Breakfast was good, but they appeared to be short-handed. Made-to-order omlettes, and bacon sausage, biscuits n gravy available, too. Our omlettes were overcooked, and seemed to be only one egg. Very small. Or French toast or pancakes cooked to order.. Juices, waffle station. $9.95 per person MEH POOL AREA.... pool temperature was BEAUTIFUL! Like bath water. But we were soooooo disappointed in the hot tub. Jets are always on... no bubbles. What's the point???! Not a bad place. It seemed well maintained... We booked this hotel because one of the perks was free breakfast. When we went down for breakfast in the morning they said due to COVID the rules have changed.. But, the night before the front desk didn't tell us that!! We paid almost $200 a night for a room and didn't even get a free breakfast??!?' That's terrible!!!! At our stay at Hilton Garden Inn we noticed that our room was very musty and not very clean. Even though our floor was a 100% smoke free floor, it still had a smoke scent to it. We are a family with 3 kids and we were going to the pool and the pool was very small and the pool area was not very clean either. And the pool was very deceiving in the pictures. We also thought that breakfast was included with our stay but it was not. We would of purchased breakfast but it was 5.99 and there was no hot food. With a hasty retreat from a dingy hotel, I find myself without a reservation. So, I stop by the Hilton sure that this place would be clean enough. When I walked in, I was surprised to see how new and nice this place is. My hopes rose for a good night's stay. Now, how busy can a sleepy city like Springfield, Il be? Apparently swamped! The staff let me know,that they didn't have a room available. As I was turning, dejected, they kindly asked me if they could call around to find a room for me somewhere else. Really? Sure! After calling at least 10 places, the manager found a hotel for me. Then she reserved it for me. To top it off, one of the staff came around the desk, brought a map, and showed me how to get to my new hotel. Service like this is rare. When I see it, I want to be sure to share it. Coming from Chicago to Springfield for a wedding we needed a room to stay in overnight and my boyfriend booked it for here. Prior to check-in I browsed the website and immediately thought that it looked like a great hotel but didn't have high expectations due to other companies not meeting the same standards as their pictures show but boy was I wrong. Customer Service: I called a few days prior to confirm that we needed an early check-in and dealt with a girl named Ebony (I believe) who was very professional and friendly over the phone. And even the few staff members I came into contact with during my stay seemed to be friendly and not have attitudes. It honestly seems like this hotel is big on customer service, which is refreshing since you don't see that too often any more. Location: This is a great location since it's literally a minute away from the expressway and there's plenty of dining options in the area if you do not want to eat in the restaurant that the hotel has. (Although I did see that they offered a breakfast buffet for $8.95/person where you can get made to order omlettes, pancakes, waffles etc. which I plan to try next time). Cleanliness: My room and bathroom was immaculate with the cleanliness. And even while throughout the other areas of the hotel I didn't notice any areas that needed attention. Although those three points are enough for a 5-star rating it does help that I truly enjoyed the pool/jacuzzi area, the hot tub in my room, and the best part was the sleep number king sized bed I had. (As someone with chronic back pain I slept like a baby and for the first time in a longggggg time woke up without being in pain). I will definitely be staying here again should I have to come to Springfield again. read more
