Hotel Staff seem to be more interested in their phones instead of taking care of customers. My husband is a Diamond member, from actual stays not a credit card, and yet he is not acknowledged as a diamond member and must ask for water and snack choice. Hotel Staff at breakfast had to be asked to place an order. We were the only ones eating and instead of clearing dirty tables staff stood around and talked or were on their phones the entire time we were there for breakfast. Sad state for Hilton, makes me want to change to Marriott. I would not recommend this place in its current state.

This hotel could have used a remodeling about 10 years ago. Carpets are worn out and stained, continental breakfast is skimpy, a/c is weak (in a 90-degree summer). The breakfast I ordered (2 eggs, 3 strips bacon, fried potatoes) was fine and cost $11.88. When I checked out however, the hotel had charged me for the breakfast, despite saying Diamond members received breakfast for free. The place wasn't bad enough for me to leave, but next time I come to Springfield, I'll be staying somewhere else.

I am a Hilton Rewards member and usually stay at Hampton Inn but thought I would try this one for my business trip to Springfield. It was the worst night's sleep I have ever had at a hotel! Receptionist was quite rude. Room looked clean but smelled of smoke (although it is a nonsmoking room). The draperies do not close, so the only "privacy" is from sheer curtains. The noise from the highway never stops, so between the parking lot lights and the noise it was difficult to sleep. The worst part was the bed...rock hard with super thin pillows. I woke up with a terrible backache. The diningroom was empty at dinner and I could see why. Food was okay but overpriced ($17 for a BBQ sandwich). The chairs were worn, filthy, and 6 inches too low for the table. Breakfast waffle was thin, cold, and had burned pieces from a previous waffle baked into it. Coffee was bitter. It is very apparent that the staff from the manager down just don't care.

I came to Springfield IL for an overnight trip to handle some personal business and visit with friends, and I used my Hilton Honors points to book a room at this hotel. I upgraded to a guest room with complimentary snacks and drinks. The hotel room was nice and the selection of snacks was terrific. The bed was comfortable and sturdy, so I slept very well. Due to covid-19, I did not have much contact with the hotel staff, except to schedule my wake up call for the next morning. I was disappointed when the to go breakfast pick up was not available as promised by the hotel in the bulletin board in the lobby as you walk in the following morning, so I just took some complimentary coffee to go. As a Diamond status Hilton Honors member, little things like a complimentary breakfast are important to me. I understand not having the breakfast buffet due to covid-19, but a simple to-go breakfast bag or pack would have been nice for guests. My hotel stay was fine other than that. I would come back here again if I find myself in Springfield IL visiting friends.

Conveniently right next to the bed.

I've stayed at resort-type hotels over the years that did not have as nice of an in-room whirlpool tub like this hotel. Very nice, easy to use, comfortable, and clean. And being in the shadows of the Dallman coal-fired electric plant this area is definitely no resort! The bed is also comfortable although the room is showing a little wear and tear. The shower is nice with a solid, flat tub floor and plenty of hot water and pressure. The vanity is large enough to spread out your stuff too. The dining room is very bright with a lot of windows and comfortable chairs and tables. This is one of the main reasons I seek out Hilton Garden Inns when travelling. The breakfast itself was good as well. I like the option to get eggs from the buffet or to get made to order eggs like over easy or omelets. Even the parking is easy with a large, level lot right out front.

Dirty needle

My family of 6 checked in April 2nd for 2 night stay because our team was staying there. The hotel is pricey, not maintained, and has alot of issues. They rooms were not very clean. There are placards in the rooms stating they dont clean the rooms due to "covid", which makes no sense. The first morning my 7 year old went to wipe steam off off the mirror in bathroom and was stuck by a dirty drug syringe stuff behind the mirror with several others, when they fell out. We immediately called for help and medical services and was told they general manager and medical services were on the way. 15 minutes later, no one responded, we got our daughter medical treatement ourselves and I located the general manger behind the breakfast bar checking on the scrambled eggs. I was then told i should just take her to the hospital and someone would come remove the needles "sometime today, before the end if the day, and just dont touch them". I demanded someone come remove them immediately, and got no response, so i took them to the front desk, at which time I also got no response. Obviously we were packing to leave anyway, but the general manager had the never to come to the room to "check it out" and when voiced our issues we were told "we could leave". Which of coarse we did. Lots of hotels in Springfield, this one is falling apart, has dirty syringes in the rooms, and the management doent care. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Breakfast area - atmosphere is quiet and relaxed.

king room with pull out was spacious and comfortable and quiet. Pool very refreshing - my hubby & grandson enjoyed it! The only drawback was that this Hilton property was pricier than the Hampton Inns we normally stay at and didn't come close to those expectations! The breakfast buffet looked great but the coffee was the worst I have experienced in many years - bitter. There was no Half & Half - only coffee mate with all that added sweeteners. Disappointed enough with the coffee to write this review and give this hotel a thumbs down. We will not stay here again and will think twice before we stop at any Hilton Garden Inn.

Pillow I slept on where crater in bed was.

This hotel has a very unique feel, especially on a weekday. On a Monday night, it wasn't filled with tourists, but instead felt like an extension of the Illinois State Capitol, with people throughout the hotel clearly engaged in business and legislative conversations. It gives the place a distinct working atmosphere that fits perfectly with its location. The hotel has a somewhat old-fashioned feel, which actually works well given the Abraham Lincoln connection and the historic character of Springfield. It doesn't try to be modern or trendy, but instead feels consistent with the setting. The room itself was clean and functional, with a slightly dated but well-maintained feel. The bed was comfortable, and the room included useful features like a mini fridge, a solid coffee setup, and plenty of charging options at both the desk and bedside. There's also a small table with two chairs that works well for either a quick meal or getting some work done. The bathroom was straightforward and clean, with a tub/shower combination and everything in good condition. Nothing fancy, but everything you need. One of the biggest advantages here is convenience. The hotel has on-site dining options, including a dinner restaurant and a breakfast spot. We did not try the breakfast buffet, which was offered at around $20 per person, but it appeared well set up. Parking is handled through a city-run garage attached to the building, and at about $7 for 24 hours, it's a great value. The front desk staff was excellent. Check-in and check-out were both smooth, and they even offer contactless check-in through their app, though we chose the traditional key card route. You do need a key card to access the elevator, which adds a layer of security. And of course, the DoubleTree cookies were flowing, which is always a nice touch. We were also able to leave our luggage at the hotel while we went out to visit several Abraham Lincoln sites around Springfield, which added even more convenience to the stay. Overall, the hotel is clean, well-run, and extremely well located. If you are visiting Springfield, especially for anything related to the State Capitol area, this is a very practical and fitting place to stay. Upon entering the room, I was immediately met with an unpleasant odor. As I started looking around, things only got worse. The bathtub in the bathroom was visibly dirty, the walls throughout the room had stains all over them, and there were crumbs left on the floor that made it obvious the room was not cleaned properly before my arrival. What really shocked me was how neglected certain areas were. Under the bed looked like it had not been cleaned in a very long time, and the area around the AC unit was covered in buildup and dirt to the point where it seemed like nobody had touched it for months. Even the mini fridge was an issue because the door would barely stay closed. For the price paid and the way this hotel presents itself online, this experience was beyond disappointing. I booked this hotel based on the reviews and photos, and I honestly feel misled. I normally do not leave negative reviews, but people deserve to know what they are actually walking into before spending their money here.

We were given a first floor room near the back door, which seemed odd. Mr. Bee has a Hilton Honors account and we typically do higher floor, but they said this was all they had, yet we had a reservation. We settled into our room, and noticed it was quite dated and we expected better. Our room was near the hotel laundry and there were three vents near our room for the dryers. All day and all night, it sounded like a motorcycle revving its engine outside our room. Needless to say, it was restful sleep. Mr. Bee did inquire at the front desk about the noise, and there was no apology, offer to move us, it was simply yes, that is from the hotel laundry. On the mirror outside the bathroom there is a sticker advising that housekeeping will be done every other day. Yet, in our 3 night, 4 day stay we never got housekeeping services. Again, Mr. Bee walked down and asked if we could get some new towels as we hadn't had housekeeping in, and the front desk staff said well they have all gone home for the day, but here are two towels. Seriously??? Again, no apology. Breakfast was your typical Hampton Inn breakfast, it was fine. The eating area is small and the floor was sticky when walking on it. My tennis shoes stuck to the floor. Just not the level of other Hampton Inn Hotels and we have stayed in plenty. Honestly, I think I would skip this and look for something else in Springfield. First, and most importantly, if you or someone you are traveling with is elderly or has limited mobility, please double check the room you've been assigned to. When I was getting in and out of the shower/jacuzzi tub combo, it occurred to me how difficult the leap over the edge into a slick tub would be for someone my father's age. (I did use and REALLY enjoy the jacuzzi, and the attached shower was fine, but it's something to note.) Also, shower before 8:30 if you want any hot water! Second, if you're going to Springfield for work and will need stable and strong WiFi, this is NOT the hotel for you. I was just trying to check email and could barely get enough signal to do that. The signal didn't seem to be any better in the cafe area downstairs. Third, if you need a hairdryer, be sure to bring your own. They don't have them in the rooms. Now, on to the positives! What a cute little hotel this was. Parking was easy and free. There was hot breakfast available, which I didn't try due to time constraints. But there were bagels (only blueberry, weirdly enough) and muffins and toast. Also, the coffee was fantastic! The room was clean enough, but I did notice some small crumbs on the rug when I arrived. There were a couple of holes in the sheets, but the sheets were certainly clean and the bed was comfy! There are some great little touches at this inn, such as the warm cookies that arrive each evening and the modest little happy hour in the afternoons. I would absolutely stay here again--it was unlike anywhere I've stayed before. And it was the perfect spot for touring around the Lincoln stuff and the Dana House and so forth.

We stayed on the third floor, which after talking to the front desk, apparently is the older of the rooms, and from our experience they shouldn't even be letting customers stay there. The pool was filthy! Hot, smelly of a lot of toxins, and what looked to be brown streaks around... it looked disgusting that we didn't go in. The room was hot and full of mold. You can tell they tried to patch the mold spots as the wallpaper was 'patched up.' See pictures. Wallpaper bubbling and ceiling damaged like they had a severe leak in the room above. The freight train was so loud all night waking us up multiple times a night. The cleaning crew didn't reset the alarms, so the previous guests alarms went off in the middle of the night - waking up the baby we had with us. And in the dark we could not see how to turn it off but accidently hit the snooze button which had the alarm go off yet again and wake everyone for the rest of the night. Let's just say we didn't sleep... The shower was pathetic!!!! The shower head was maybe $5. My exterior hose at home for gardening let off more of a spray! The drain backed up and wouldn't drain the shower water. There was no hot water. Mold damage and scraped up floors - disgusting! The bathroom mirror was installed crooked and banged up bad! The door looked like someone smashed into it with suitcases. The mold damage was pink and coming through the bubbling walls and ceiling. They actually put wallpaper over wallpaper instead of doing the job properly. The bathroom vent was dusty! The rugs were stained and patched! The remote control to the tv was caked in black dirtiness from fingers. We cleaned it and the rags was disgusting!! The beds were awful! Back pain and neck pain were there the next morning. The bedding looked so dated and the bed curtain at the base looked like an afterthought! the bedding was stained and old. The pillow was smashed in the case and was like a rock! The back electric sliding door to the garage was broken and not opening so you try to open it your fingers and it would start to go then slam close getting your finger stuck. Then try again and it would finally open. The elevators were loud and wobbly. The other elevators were out of order with maintenance. All night you could hear an electrical sound that was concerning. The AC unit when it kicked on was like the fright train going through town. It was so loud we flew out of bed to quickly turn it off! Sounded like yet another electrical problem. In the end we woke up with stuffed up noses from all the mold that night and it cleared up as soon as we left the hotel. We couldn't leave quick enough!! They won't refund your night stay if you book through a third party site, so money wasted!! Do NOT stay here! Spend the extra money and go across the street to the nicer hotel!!

Upon check-in at around 430pm, I inquired if we might stay in the same room type as I had stayed previously (which was a complimentary upgrade as a rewards member). My request was accommodated by the manager. He said I would be charged $10/day for parking. I advised that last year there was no mention of parking charges, and asked why was I being charged this year (the hotel and parking garage were nearly empty). He waived the charge, which was appreciated. As it turned out, there was no parking attendant anyway. I also requested extra pillows, blankets, and a microwave. We unpacked in the room and went to visit family. Upon our return at around 1030pm, we discovered the room temperature was about 65 degrees. The pillows were delivered, but 2 mattress pads were delivered instead of blankets. I went back to the desk and the same manager was still on duty. I explained the situation and he said he could have maintenance look at it, but it would take some time. We were tired after a long day of travel and visiting, and did NOT want to wait for maintenance. I asked if there might be another room available on the same floor we could sleep in (without moving everything), and hopefully move back to the room in the morning. He only had a room on another floor. I asked if they could check to be sure it had heat. He had maintenance check, who said it was functioning. I went back to the room and spoke with the maintenance guy in the hallway who said the heat in the room would not be fixed overnight. I went down and told the manager we were changing rooms, and that it was a hassle to repack and move everything in the middle of the night, especially since my traveling companion had mobility challenges. The manager did not offer any assistance in the move whatsoever. I asked if I could get some credit for the inconvenience (I prepaid), and he said he had given me a room upgrade and parking already and instead, offered 2 coupons for COFFEE. I went up and moved everything (including the microwave) myself. By the time we got in bed it was well after midnight. The next day (Thanksgiving Day) we left around 11am and returned around 10pm. The room was cool (although not as cold as the other room) when we returned. I was not going to go through this all over again. We covered up with the mattress pads and turned the heat all the way up. I decided to let the desk know in the morning. When we left Friday I and asked if the heat in the new room could be fixed while we were gone. They said it would be taken care of. When we returned mid-evening, the room was minimally warmer, but by morning (check out date) it was 67 degrees. Upon check out, I explained all that had happened, and the desk attendant on duty was very apologetic. I asked if I could get some credit for the multiple inconveniences, and she said because it was prepaid, I could not. I asked if it was possible to get some Wyndham Rewards points instead. She said she would speak with the rewards manager on Monday and call me and let me know. I asked if we could get coupons for food instead of just coffee and she accommodated me ( she was very helpful and sympathetic). Mind you, there was no restaurant open in the hotel at all (which was an inconvenience in itself); only a Starbucks. We left with a very bad feeling from the whole experience, ruining what was supposed to be an enjoyable holiday visit, and vowed we would NEVER stay there again. There was no call on Monday. By Thursday, I decided to call and check the status of receiving Wyndham Rewards points. The same desk attendant answered and when I asked why she had not called, she said she spoken to her manager (the person we dealt with the 1st night) and he told her NOT to do anything for me (not even a courtesy call back?), and the he was not doing anything else for me. I asked if she spoke with the rewards manager, and she said she did not per his instruction. I felt bad for her, because she wanted to do the right thing but could not. I submitted a complaint on Wyndham's website, especially noting the lack of customer service by the manager, hoping corporate would step in. It turns out the complaints are sent directly to the hotel, and the same manager responded to the complaint. There appears to be no corporate oversight when submitting feedback about specific hotel stays. I even called the corporate office and they said only the property could respond. Being a seasoned traveler (business and leisure) and formerly in both customer service and service management in travel and other service industries, this low level of customer service at a hotel management level is surprising to me! The upgrade was PRIOR to any of the breakdowns; and is standard practice (upon availability) for all levels of loyalty at the other hotel brands I frequent. Even a goodwill gesture of a night's

It was super convenient, I was staying two nights in the George and ordered breakfast for my second morning. The housekeeping staff put the box breakfast in my mini fridge the afternoon prior. For $14 it was a good deal, with two pieces of multigrain bread, avocado spread, 2 hard boiled eggs, an orange and juice. They also put out a toaster for me. There are two tiny ice machines on the second floor which comes in handy. The building was very quiet both times I stayed.
