In my mind, the best wedding reception venues can't just operate as a space or a service, but as a trusted partner. Ebben and his team at Arlington's delivered exceptional service from start to finish. The food was incredible, the location required minimal decoration, and the staff were composed and communicative. What really stood out to me was how the team helped problem solve throughout the reception. At one point, our music playing device malfunctioned, and Ebben swooped in ready with spare cords and helpful words. We had underestimated the amount of time we would have to dance, but it was no problem - Ebben came in clutch with bar suggestions at the last minute. This guy is the gold standard for customer satisfaction, and was so easy to work with. I feel like in a different life he could have had a successful career as a hostage negotiator. The rest of his team was fantastic - we loved the bartenders and they had excellent communication with Ebben throughout the entire reception. I don't plan on getting married again LOL, but if I did, I would absolutely pick Arlington's every time. They just get it, and were indispensible in making our wedding a memorable and successful event. Thank you so much to all you guys - you are, quite literally, the best. read more

I like the unique decor at this restaurant and laid back atmosphere. The decor is very retro/funky. The prices were great. Very affordable and many different unique options on their menu. Drinks we're very affordable as well. I had the bbq boneless wings, they were good. The pierogis were ok. I would split them as an appetizer if anything. read more

This place is okay. A group of friends and I went a few days ago over the weekend for the first time. The positives: - Random and interesting decor. Upon entering, you are welcomed by a human sized bunny. It is creepy yet funny at the same time. Touches like this add something unique to the experience. - The menu offers a variety of choices. - The prices for most food items and drinks are reasonable. Cocktails were $6. - The waiter was really nice and even allowed us to have separate checks. - The Moroccan Chicken Skewers were good. The Meh - The pierogies were okay, but I wasn't a huge fan of the outside texture. The ones here had a tough texture on the outside. - I tried someone else's jerk meatballs and was very disappointed. The seasoning in the meatballs lacked salt and jerk seasoning. They really just tasted like plain straight from the freezer meatballs to me. They were not good at all and I would not recommend them. read more

Nice little place but the room was very loud. Decor was definitely unique. Fried Mac n cheese app was tasty but pretty dark and over fried. Broccoli cheddar soup was also tasty but super thick not even really a liquid. Chicken wings were good, tender meat crispy skin. Prime rib sandwich was great, soft ciabatta roll nice meat, sauce and onions, not light on serving but could've been fuller. Tater tots were ok, just like you'd make at home..plain old tot. Homemade chips as all are...thick plain and over cooked. Everything was hot and the service quick. Quick walk from hotel so a hit for us. read more

Great service and super friendly staff but oh my.. the food !! Why is it so nasty ? This place is great , awesome location , very great staff but please get a new chef ! I had Pierogis which should be straight forward but not here... at Arlington's they have to bath in nasty oil. Are they frozen then reheated ? Please ask the chef to drain the oil and to drink it. I want him/her to know how it feels going down. Next I went with their new Orange avocado / tasteless salad. I mean come on ! It is a salad !! You can screw that up. Well guess what.. do I need to say it, they did. It's plain and tasteless and the avocado was hard as a rock. Forgot to mention the coffee... it was so light I can't even call it coffee. The food there is horrible and probably the worse I had in several years. Don't go there unless you are having a drink and it better not be coffee ! read more

we've never seen so many pubs in small area of land such as in Springfield, IL!! Arlington's is a quaint place to hang out and have a drink especially on a saturday afternoon, waiting for some tournament to finish. Typical burger, wraps, salad place and for the money you pay, its not that bad. I got the Moroccan spicy chicken skewers though it wasn't that spicy and it came with some kind of peanut sauce. staff were attentive to our needs and we were seated right away when we came in. parking was easy and you didn't have to feed the meters on the weekends! read more

So happy to have found this place. The decor is great, there are beautiful rooms. The menu has something for everyone. We tried the fresh homemade Potato Chips - wow! Great flavors and delicious. The drinks are cheap, and strong. I had the Buleit Rye, and it was amazing. $6 for cocktails! Since we had some deep fried State Fair food we went with their salads, Apple and Pear with goat cheese, chicken breast in a cranberry-walnut vinaigrette, and I added the house made Parmesan-Tomato Bacon bits - to die for! One of the best Salads I ever had. We will definitely be back for lunch! Highly recommend read more

Hhhmmm...Arlington's, there is something about it that draws you in but doesn't quite sell well or comfortably, at least for me, I'm not sure. I've visited twice now and I didn't do a review the first time because I just didn't get a vibe of satisfaction. From the entrance to seating the place appears to be clean and the people friendly, so I'm not sure what makes this an odd mix for me. I don't know if it's an intended or accidental awkwardness by the owner. Let me explain... The environment seems, I don't know maybe a bit eclectic??? In what I'll describe as "the pit" there are chairs hanging on the walls with wired bodies resembling humans. There are also tv monitors on the wall that show picture slides of the the inside of the restaurant, which you are already inside of if your viewing the monitor. Why would I need to watch a slide show of the place I'm in and able to move about freely? IDK??? Oh, and near the entrance, as you walk in, there is a mannequin dressed and sitting as if it/she is waiting to be seated at a table. It's a bit heavy on the spiritual side, to me...not a heavenly, sense, at all. But in another area it has the black and white tile floor and feels like a diner. And then there is the stealth bar made of solid wood, classic, "Coyote Ugly" setting if you know what I mean. So, there is definitely this hodgepodge arrray of external stimuli. Eclectic bistro meets, small diner, meets local bar...but somehow the decor suggests there should be a grand piano somewhere in the background, being gently played by a well dressed musician. I guess in this manner they have a space for all kinds. Let me move on and review the service. On both occasions the server was appropriate. The first visit I was alone, my server was female, Becky, I think was her name. She was very pleasant and helpful. At both visits, the servers appeared knowledgeable about the menu and the food served. On the second visit, though, I was with two colleagues. The server was male. I'm not sure if he is racist, or had just never really engaged with African Americans before but he couldn't keep us and our orders and request straight, to save his life. He was never overtly rude or condescending, he just seemed to struggle with identifying us as individuals. He was pleasant enough though, no warrant for any complaints at all. The food. Hhhhmmm...I have to say, it is as unpredictable as the rest of the experience. On the first visit I was fascinated by the menu and the aroma's in the air. I ordered the Moroccan Chicken Skewers as an appetizer and the Spicy Southwest Chicken Wrap as the entree. I didn't care for either of the dips that came with the food they both tasted like mildly seasoned mayonnaise, there was little change to taste or consistency even though one was referred to as aioli. The chicken skewers had an after taste of cinnamon but had no other distinctive flavor, lacking both salt and pepper. So, it was a bit bland. The chicken wrap was ok. Not spectacular, not bad, just ok. It had all the appropriate toppings and was wrapped and plated well. The seasoning again was a bit too light leaving it a bit bland and the dip tasting like mayo didn't quite make it any more impressive. But!!! They made up for it in the second visit...if there is a cheese sandwich to be had, The Gourmet Cheese Sandwich is to die for. I had it with a side salad which was not just iceberg, cucumber and baby tomatoes. Thank you for that! The side salad was refreshing and filling and the grilled cheese with tomato reduction, grilled onions and seasoned/flavored bacon!!! Yess. Note: order it with extra bacon, I did that in advance and I was glad I did. Yummm. As for the others, one of my colleagues brags of the black and blue burger. She reports it is heavenly with the blue cheese crumbles. It is her go to and it is what she had on the day of our visit. Let's just say both of our plates were clean and there were no doggy bags for us. The third party on my second visit had the Philly Steak soup and a grilled chicken sandwich. She raved of the soups flavor and heartiness but took the chicken sandwich to go quietly...I don't know what that was about but the soup was clearly a winner. So there you have it. A different kind of meal in a different kind of place in a different kind of location. Arlington's gets an A for its efforts toward a unique experience. I will return again. The food is reasonably priced and the menu is worthy of further exploration. read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review for Arlington's yet! We come here all the time - they have the best hummus in town and they aren't afraid to experiment with flavors (jalapeno pineapple, avocado, etc.). I always get the Spicy Wrap, but without the wrap, and with a black bean burger instead of meat. It's basically a bowl of beans, cheese, jalapenos, guac, and the delicious chipotle mayo. GET IT WITH TOTS! My husband usually gets one of the many burger choices. He's never had a complaint. We held a party for my parents here a few years ago and it was great. The upstairs is super pretty and holds a lot of people. I go to events up there every now and then and I've been impressed every time. If you're on the fence, give it a go! read more

I've been here a few times for parties in their upstairs reception room. First off, the whole restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the upstairs doesn't disappoint either. The building was established in 1917. Arlington's has classic old school charm with a modern flare to it. The food is also delicious. I've had brunch and dinner here and was not disappointed. The only negative I have about the place is that one of the bartenders they had working was uneducated in making drinks and change. I would recommend to go here for dinner and drinks with friends, a romantic date, or hosting a party in their reception room. Upstairs Reception room holds 140 people sitting and 300 people standing. read more

We frequent Arlington's as much as possible for lunch and always have a great experience! The staff is pleasant and efficient and the food never disappoints. The food has a unique twist to it, matching the adorable decor. We recently held our wedding in the beautiful upstairs banquet room and couldn't have been happier with the food, service, and overall experience from start to finish. They were so easy to work with, walked us through the planning process, and helped make our day turn out great. Our family had nothing but compliments about the venue, food, service, and staff. We would highly recommend Arlington's! read more

The Arlington's ambience is great...like stepping back in time with modern conveniences. The bar is semi-rustic with two TVs. At 11:15am they weren't busy so many staff members were occupying the wait station near the bar area. We were seated by a very polite hostess. The only issue with the staff at this point were the two bus persons conversing in the dining area, the older clearly disgruntled. The server was very kind, with a welcoming smile. She took awhile to notice our lack of utensils but I'm not sure if that was her job or the hostesses. The server was clearly unfamiliar with the menu, but the place just openned 2 weeks ago. However, the server did remove my Sprite from the table to refill it...a no-no in the restaurant business. The only major issue was when she played with a toddler at the next table (I think she knew the mother and child) and rubbed the child's food covered t-shirt. She then returned to her post at the wait station until it was time to tend to us again...never washing her hands. A sanitation violation. The food was very well prepared, the only thing allowing me to give 2 stars. Chicken skewers had alot of rosemary. The blackened chicken was perfect in the Spicy Wrap! My wife had a sandwich and raved about it. So, we will try it again. The issues seem isolated. Look for the updated review soon! read more

We almost didn't go in because of reviews about bad service and were discussing Yelp reviews as we walked by, when, Jeff, a server, approached us with menus and offered to seat us inside and told us what the most often ordered choices were on the menu. We ordered what he suggested, and were thrilled to have delicious lunches delivered quickly to our table. So happy to find fresh made black bean burgers and clear explanation of vegetarian choices on the menu. We will be back. read more

I thought this place was lovely. Great beer choices, nice decor, excellent burger. We were all happy with our dinner choices. Downside: the kids burger was super tiny. Upside: the small child had plenty of room for his root beer float. Service was a little disjointed but the black and blue burger on brioche made up for any short comings. Best food I had in Springfield. read more

Great service/hosting - I was here for a wedding reception and they managed everything in a friendly, timely and professional manner. I dig it. Visited for the first time today for a later lunch. I don't know that I really have anything negative to say--we had a great experience. We were greeted by multiple staff, and seated immediately. Waitress was extremely nice--food was FAST. My mom ordered the greek wrap with fries, both she enjoyed. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and side salad, which were tasty. We took some leftovers home, and as we were walking out we were asked if we wanted a bag to make it easier to carry. Such a minor detail, but was thoughtful and made a good impression on me. Will absolutely return. :) read more

The best hamburger I have had in Springfield. I would like to try the grilled cheese with tomato soup reduction. A patron in an earlier post was upset that his grilled cheese didn't come with soup, but I can see how the menu can be misunderstood in the description. I have had great service, and I've had so-so service. I saw the owner bend over backwards for some tourists who had a hotel voucher, but who didn't want to wait for a big table. I thought they were rude, but he did everything he could to make them happy. I tried a wrap another time which was ok, but the burger was so good, that I always try one of the several burger options when I go. read more

This was my first visit to Springfield, and I was pleasantly surprised with Arlington's. They have a unique atmosphere, with a nice variety of burgers with good vegetarian options. Good beer selection, and lots of tasty appetizers. It rivals the pub fare you can find on the east coast, and is much more affordable! Good for groups also. Parking can be challenging. read more

Tried this place for lunch. The atmosphere is really charming and hip. The wait staff is plenty friendly but that's where the nice remarks end. Inattentive wait staff, empty drinks, cold soup, and overcooked hamburger. We asked another employee for warm soup because our waitress never returned and then it took 15 minutes to get it back after we had to flag someone else down to get it. Luckily it was removed from the bill but the soup still left to be desired. It was like eating gravy. The hamburger was way over cooked and super dry. The pesto mayo was good but they up-charge for it. One would expect that a $10 burger wouldn't have to pay for pesto mayo. The best thing on the plate was the tots and they were greasy and overcooked. Not particularly baby friendly, no changing table in the restroom. We were recommended this place by a friend but will not go back. Very disappointed. read more

This is my third time coming here, my second time having the food. I really like the ambiance of the place. The first time I came here I was just drinking with friends. The second time I had dinner at the bar with a friend, and then tonight I asked for a table so I could relax and catch up on news while enjoying a pint and a burger. Regarding the food, the first time I came I talked with Ebben at the bar who I believe is a managing co-owner. We chatted about the menu and he said the burgers are a highlight, and this ends up being very accurate. The burgers are amazing. If you ask for a medium burger, it's made medium. The meat is a 1/2 pound patty and it's quality. I really like the brioche bun. I prefer their fries because they are nice and crunchy. As for the libations, they have some fantastic beers here on tap. They have the usuals but then they also have some craft beers they rotate through. Enjoyed beers from Bell's and Left Hand with my meal. Quality brews. Service was great. I never had an empty glass or wanted for a thing. I hope these guys are around for a good long while. read more

This is the 4th time we have went there. Just love the atmosphere and love to support local! Food is just mediocre though. Tonight we had the chicken and waffles sandwich. Not good at all. We also had the cheesesteak sandwich. Good meat, not a good bun. We also had thai springroll special for the appetizer. It was pretty good. You get 5 mini eggrolls for $9. House chips are flavorliess. Daughter had a burger with grilled pineapple. She said the grilled pineapple was good, but would not get the sandwich again. She had the fries, but only received about 15 in the order. My husband and 2 children left feeling hungry and not satisfied. Wanted to try this new place out and wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere is fantastic and trendy. Our waitress, Becky, was awesome. The food and menu were also great. Everything priced around $8-9 so you can feel free to get what you want unlike some places where prices range from $8-27 per item. I have eaten here a few times and the food was okay. Not bad, just okay. Staff is always pleasant. Recently held my daughter's wedding and reception. The upstairs was gorgeously decorated by a friend. They were quick to set up for the reception. Why the 2 stars? This was by far the worst food I have ever had at a wedding. Horseshoe bar which was a slice of untoasted Texas toast, a steamed, heavily charred burger which was raw inside, about 12 frozen fries and maybe 2 Tbls of cheese sauce. All served on plastic table wear with plastic serve wear. All of that cost $700 for the venue which had no toilet paper in the rest room, and $1900 for food which was not edible. Will never recommend anyone to have this as a venue. Beautiful place, staff, sub par for everything else. read more
