BEWARE: This should be a KGUN 9 story! Our home in Oro Valley flooded mid November 2019. Our insurance company made arrangements for us to stay long-term until repairs were completed. We were placed in a handicapped room accidentally by the hotel and had to move ALL OF OUR BELONGINGS 2 weeks into our stay. The same day we moved rooms, the maids "mistakenly threw our belongings away". Apparently, they got confused with our things being dropped in the center of the room (because we had to go to work right after) into a room that was marked "ready". Rather than follow proper protocol and photo document and store our things, they ended up in a dumpster supposedly. Ironically, 2 days later when my son tracked his XBOX (one of the many missing items), it was pinging in Phoenix. Though OV police said "no crime was committed because they're willing to make it right", we felt completely invaded and victimized in our long-term home. To add to this nightmare, we were met with skepticism and disdain from managers Shelby and Otton. I wondered if perhaps it was personal, but in interviewing numerous staff members, it became clear that Shelby is feared and disliked by most. Even the owners of the facility were less than kind or accommodating. Wait, it gets better! They incorrectly billed me personally for a daily resort and dog fee though that should have been billed to insurance which I had to regularly call about (We weren't even using the resort because we were schooling and working). It took almost 2 months to get reimbursed $1500 after much back and forth. I will say Terri and Lindsey were as helpful as they could be during this process, but it's clear their hands were tied by their managers which limited them from going above and beyond. There was one barista, Savannah a 20 year old, that was truly the only genuinely kind and customer focused employee of the bunch. Mind you, my fiancé, teenage boys, and family animals were displaced during the holidays and were dealing with severe displacement stress, foreign surroundings, limited space, no decorations and no ability to cook holiday meals. The managers refused to provide a Thanksgiving OR Christmas holiday meal for my family to accommodate or apologize for the chronic poor customer service and repeated issues we received during our nearly 2 month stay. We spent thousands in room service (on top of what insurance was paying) so it wasn't like they weren't getting compensated handsomely from our stay. The final blow is when they kicked us out during the Gem and Mineral show season and gave us less that 4 hours to find a new temporary home. Oddly, it was timed immediately after they wrote us a check for our stolen items. They told our insurance company there was "no availability" despite online sites showing plenty. This retaliatory action resulted in major stress because there was zero availability during this ridiculously busy season. Due to their horrible customer service, I wasted hours on the phone with them, in between seeing my patients, trying to rectify wrong billing, police calls, manager calls, security calls, insurance calls, relocation calls; time I can never get back! Luckily we landed at La Quinta on Cortaro in Marana. Though it was 30 minutes away instead of 5 from our home, these folks became family. They knew us by name, accommodated ALL our needs, fed us, and worked with us to make it a comfortable stay! El Conquistador Resort in all their high and mightiest, ought to take lessons from these folks! I'm very curious if there isn't a criminal theft ring happening at this facility.
