This review is for the Disc Golf course. El Rio is beautiful but only being able to reserve a tee time after 2pm is total BS! It's nice to have carts but you play hole for hole with the ball golfers and no one seems to know who has the right of way. Lots of cross traffic with balls flying around and not much respect from other players. We pay to play just like everyone else and some transparency between the two sports sharing the same space would be great.

A very well-maintained municipal golf course in Tucson. Nicely laid out and not overly challenging, but you have to mind the traps around a few of the holes. Reasonably priced, and helpful employees. We had a lot of fun playing the course as out-of-towners, and a local joined us as a third who plays there often, so we got some tips on hole placement and the flow of the greens. A good day!

This is a short course and it is currently in excellent shape. From fairways to greens the place looks great. Sand traps are more like dirt traps so stay out! Summer time has some great deals. Staff is very friendly. The course might be short, but has great challenges, you will have a great time at this golf course

    A beautiful day

Probably the worst kept course I played and is crazy that they're charging 42 bucks in June at 4pm. Barely any grass, would not go back

In addition to my…read moreaffections for the place because of my history with it, Randolph's golf courses (and all the public courses in Tucson, for that matter) have really stepped it up in their efforts to make Tucson City-sponsored golf really pleasant. The staff is universally helpful, playful, friendly and caring. The facilities and greens are now well-cared-for, and one can tell that staff takes pride in their work. This can be felt in groundskeepers, to barkeeps, to starters and marshals and cart girls, to the folks in the pro shop.

A kid, employee, walks up and tells me "quit hitting off the grass sir!" I told him no, and that I wasn't hitting off the grass, I was htting off a T because there's no T-hole in the matts. He goes on to tell me to get off of the grass. Keep in mind where I was there was no ryegrass growing. It was dying out bermuda and mud. I again told him no, I paid for the balls and I intended to use them or they could give me a refund. The kid had a sneer on his face from the outset of the interaction. Right when I was leaving the manager came down and I hear the kid say "he's right there." Unreal! That place, and the city, can screw off. They are gouging locals, prices are double than other courses like Canoa Ranch or Torres Blancas were this summer, and at one point over the summer they were charging locals $10 more a round than non-residents!! I guarantee anyone, the city courses, particularly Fred Enke saw a drop off in revenue this summer because they gouged locals. Enke was charging $32 for 9-holes! Now they are screwing us over at the ranges.

3.5 stars This…read morereview is for the permanent disc golf course that is also located on this ball golf course. The address is somewhat misleading as the entrance is actually off of Rudasill. It will cost you $10 to play 18. You can rent a golf cart for $5 for up to 2 people riding. This course is great for long arms. There isn't a short basket on the whole course. Hence for me, who does not possess a long arm, 3.5 stars. It will take you longer to play than on a dedicated disc golf course if you do not rent a cart. There really are not many obstacles for long arm throwers. Yes, there are trees, but there are fairways, and this course is excellent for honing your fairway drives. There is a water hazard for two of the baskets and if your disc lands in the drink, you can go to the clubhouse, plunk down a deposit, and use the golden retriever (which is actually white, in this case). The club forbids anyone from going into the water, so please respect that. A plus is that there is grass. The website shows pictures of beautiful green grass, but it isn't quite that spectacular. And there still is some dirt around. There is a club house so you can buy drinks and snacks. There is a water fountain to fill up your H2O bottle. And there are clean restrooms. One of the rules that the local disc club has for this course is that all the greens are Out of Bounds (OB). I'm sure they have a good reason. I haven't researched it on the PDGA site, but maybe there is a universal rule for it. I think it is silly. That means that for just about every basket on this course, there is an OB, right by the basket. It's not like disc golfers are going to ruin the greens by walking on it or throwing from it. There are not going to be drives but putts made from a green. So I think it is a silly rule. They hold tournaments here, so the local disc-ers must like it. I'm sure that there are plenty of disc golfers that would give this 4 or even 5 stars. A couple of my friends would. I just don't like paying to play. I don't like getting behind ball golfers and having to wait as it takes them longer to play the hole than it does for us to play the basket. The ball golfers are respectful and friendly, don't get me wrong, I just don't like sharing a course with them. Even my long arm buddies don't get too many birdies on this course: I don't get any. There are a couple of baskets where it might be possible and I've come close, just missing my medium or long putt. My recommendation is to give it a try. Maybe you will like it way more than I enjoy it. If you are a disc golfer in Tucson, you have to try it at least once.

If you do play here, leave the putter at home and just bring irons and wedges as it's impossible to get a true roll on the bumpy greens. I stopped after nine holes due to "heat" but mainly it was because the course is so out of shape.

Stunning views!!!…read more Beautiful clubhouse. Beautiful course. Nice restaurant/bar. Immaculate condition throughout the course and the surroundings. Nice practice/range. All staffs here (pro shop, starters , OSP) are all very friendly and professional. Each cart comes with two bottles of water. There are 3 nine holes; Palmer, Gambler and Pioneer. Our group's favorite courses are Palmer and Gambler. Palmer: this is not the typical easy pleasy resort course. It is super challenging / tough, a very target golf. Definitely not for beginners, but extremely satisfy after the round. Bathroom (Palmer): clean because it is literally a JW facility. But it requires a little walk through the pool area. Gambler: not as tough as Palmer but still quite challenging and fun. Bathroom (Gambler): I think it was portable. Sad since it is such a fancy facility. Pioneer: this is the friendliest 9 out of the three courses and appears to be the busiest too. Bathroom (Pioneer): don't remember. A 'must play' golf course in Tucson, especially the Palmer and Gambler. A must play golf course in Tucson, especially the Palmer and Gambler.

He worked with three of us in the clinic and even gave feedback to a few others practicing. The club loaned us clubs along with a golf cart as part of the resort fee. Another woman in the clinic kept saying how nice the clubs were- so I'm thinking they were pretty good. She even asked about getting a set. After the clinic, we headed to the clubhouse for lunch. We sat at the bar since the restaurant was pretty busy and the empty seats were in the sun. The bar tender was nice and provided menu suggestions. My colleague settled on the local hotdog (wrapped in bacon and with mustard, ketchup, mayo, and beans. - yep the beans were on the dog.) I followed the recommendation of the bar tender and ordered the chicken sandwich. It was DELICIOUS! There was a hot honey sauce that set the sandwich apart from any I've ever had. The chicken was nice and crispy, and yummy pickles! The food was so good and the prices were better than at the resort. It was so good I came back before I left the conference.

I ended up getting the same thing I did last year as I had dreams about the chicken taco's, heh. Decided to try a few other items in the mean-time and it did not disappoint. Value: It is a bit expensive as most places are, but I'd say the price is fair and considering all the cost being totaled and split with a group, it's not to bad. From a value standpoint, if you are paying all alone it's definitely on the pricier side of things, but if you splitting the bay cost its not bad at all. We had 2 hours of fun with lots of laughs and good food. Recommendation: If you're looking for something fun and want to show off your skills! This is the place to be, whether your subpar or an expert, there's something for everyone here, and I think most of all the food and the service makes the experience fun. Will be back! Thank you.
