Our room was covered in ants. In the bed, all over. They changed rooms and comped us breakfast (for which we have away). It's just an older noisy property. Stay somewhere better. They ran out of coffee at the coffee bar on a Sunday am at 8. Nobody was even down there. It's just lipstick on a pig here. Stay elsewhere.... read more

For the cost, I expected more. The common areas like the pool and the bar are modern, clean, and well kept. The room I received was falling apart and awkwardly laid out. The coffee maker didn't work and the ice machine never had ice in it. The fitness room was well equipped. I found to many inconveniences to give this hotel a better rating. read more

Hilton San Diego/Del Mar - Hotels Near Me - Del Mar, California

I've stayed here the past 2 memorial weekends (and they've been at full capacity) and both times have been great experiences. Nicholas, the manager took care of me and my family. He was attentive, professional, and courteous. The courtyard is definitely a vibe! we were here because of a soccer tournament so naturally the hotel had a lot of families staying but even then it wasn't hard to find a fireplace to sit by or chairs in the pool area. The families staying here were also very polite all around. The staff was quick to assist with anything we needed, the bar tenders were talkative, and helpful when asking about surrounding areas to eat. We stayed in a suite and my gosh it was nice! I don't think I'll ever not stay in a suite moving forward. The second bathroom, kitchen table(6) and bar area were a hit. Also, with the hotel being at full capacity (and the location of our room) the noise level in the hallways or near the elevator were not bad at all. This is definitely our go to when in Del Mar! read more

Let me begin with the Good: Pool is nice, food in the restaurant in there (the bar, I forgot the name) is really good. Employees are not the friendlies they are also not rude sooo just an OK here. The shuttle drivers were amazingly friendly and the shuttle takes you pretty much anywhere you need to go around there. The B-Fast buffet not worth it so DON'T get it, you're better off ordering from menu. The Bad: PARKING charge $22 a night, this is unbelievable there is no street parking anywhere near and with what you are paying for the hotel you should not have to pay. I would def. stay at the hotel again but I would not rent a car b/c of the parking read more

I've stayed here a few times while attending the races at the track. It's super convenient for seeing the horse races as they have a steady shuttle back and forth between there and the track. The service at the check-in counter is always friendly and prompt. For the restaurant/bar: Their food has been consistently tasty. Just recently I destroyed a plate of their Brussels sprouts - so crispy and flavorful. They also have a decent selection of beers on tap and wines. They renovated the patio for their bar area over the past year and I definitely liked it a bit more before they made the changes. It offered more areas that felt secluded. No complaints on the rooms. Comfortable beds. The walls seem well insulated (never any issues with too much noise). Basically your typical hotel room at this price point. Overall a decent experience every time. I can't say anything stands out as a reason to gush about the place, but no complaints. read more

When we arrived at 5pm our room wasn't ready and had to leave and come back. Received a text around 7pm stating our room was finally ready. Once we got up to our room and opened the door we saw that there were already guest in the room!!! Went back down and they apologized for giving us a key to someone else room. We requested a crib before our arrival and four times during our stay. Our crib didn't arrive until almost midnight! The room was cute and cozy so they get a 3 star review. read more

We stayed here October 2017 . This place was spectacular . The rooms were very clean and just perfect. Now the outside bar area's ambience was down right romantic with all the fireplaces going sweet music playing . The breakfasts had a wide variety plus a lot of gluten free . We joined friends here to go to the horse races. Found this hotel on line and I'll be honest, being located across the street from the track I didn't have very high expectations but the location was great. I was very pleasantly surprised! The staff was so friendly and helpful from the front desk to the restaurant staff at breakfast. By the way, they do a really substantial breakfast buffet! You will not leave hungry. There is a great shuttle service to and from the track but we also discovered in talking to the driver that they will shuttle anywhere within about a 5 mile radius. That will get you to the waterfront restaurants and even all the way up to Torrey Pines Golf Club! Our next trip to Del Mar we will definitely be staying here again. read more

This is year 18 of our annual girls weekend at the races (always staying at this hotel). With this many years experience here's the rundown: The good- almost always nice staff & service (special props for 2019 crew). You can bring your dog(s). The shuttle service!!! Clean (I was truly shocked to see so many reviews complaining of dirty rooms- we have never experienced this). Comfy beds. Location to track/ fairgrounds. Beautiful bar area (keep reading for the not so nice issues w/ the bar). The bad- overpriced everything! Which is just getting worse as the years go by. Parking way too expensive! Forced to book two nights for weekends when we only need one, causing us to have to play the game if canceling one at the 11th hour every year. This is during Del Mar's race season anyways. Past few years they've been doing what many other hotels do- adding an automatic %18 gratuity to room service orders which is a HUGE PET PEEVE for me. Please don't assume up front that I'm getting service worth 18% tip & then have the audacity to put the tip line in where you pay/ sign for your food. Just this morning I ordered an omelette & coffee pot for 2, twice confirmed w/ the guy taking my order that I needed 2 cups, they brought one. Worse my food came w/ a barely warm omelette missing the potatoes that are part of the meal I ordered. To add insult to injury there's that pesky 18% gratuity I already paid. I'm asking for a credit on this one before checking out today. The ugly- the bar area albeit gorgeous indoor/ outdoor is unbelievably inconsistent. Some treats all goes well and we have a blast. A couple of years they closed it down w/ almost no heads up at 11pm! 2 am is the standard. And this year, the icing on the cake- $28 for a glass of mediocre Chardonnay, total rip off. I know the bartender heard me bitch about this to my friend standing next to me and I felt bad for him because he knew we weren't coming back for drinks (there goes a fair amount of tips he would've otherwise earned). We come here every year to go to the races, party like rockstars and this bar used to be fabulous. Hence why we've come back year after year. We have never caused any problems or noise complaints, etc w/ our partying nor have we ever been victims to such while staying here yet this hotel has systematically tried to morph this place into a family friendly ho hum place to stay. Only recent exception was last years party on the night before Labor Day- truly a blast, hope they bring it back to stay! Hope they bring the bar area back to life period and the prices back into the stratosphere. We may give this place one more year but if it remains a total dud as it was last night (perhaps the outrageous pricing?), we're out. We book here so we can have it all (track, great/ fun bar & nice pool for the next day), last night for first time we shuttles to area w/ other bars and restaurants. read more

One star for the Valet staff. Most of the attendants were pretty nice. As for the hotel, they definitely do NOT take a liking to guests that book through www.Priceline.com. I just got home yesterday and don't even feel like putting in all the horrible details. It just makes me angry. Maybe I'll write more when I can get over my shitty weekend because this hotel didn't understand the words, "Customer Service." Btw, highlight of my hotel experience at the Hilton Del Mar: Fecal matter on the toilet seat from the previous guests. Yeah, it was absolutely disgusting. They didn't know to apologize for it. read more

Not likely to stay here again. The pictures are deceiving, and honestly the hotel is kind of a conundrum. The grounds are nice, the location is ok, probably better not when the fair is in full-swing, the bedroom was nice & mostly clean, the staff were also nice. However, our linens had multiple holes (see pics). I mean, I can understand not wanting to throw a sheet away with one or 2 small holes but this was more than that. The roof needs a power wash, it's filthy and looks old & tattered, some parts of the hotel are nice & some look outdated & worn. Overall, mixed feelings regarding the esthetics of the hotel. The room design was clearly updated, modern, clean. But the bathroom... yikes! Wall paper, old scratched up sink, tiny tub. Just meh. The front desk staff was fabulous when we checked in Sat afternoon, she offered us an upgrade for my husband's bday. So we got a balcony overlooking the pool which was really nice! Aside from the holes, the bed was comfy and & clean. We didn't eat dinner there but we sat outside for drinks around 9:30/10pm. The staff was friendly but my Sangria was pretty watered down, not delicious. Again meh. And the movie they played looped over & over & over on the home screen. The table next to us finally complained. We slept well. Sunday, around 10:20am, we wanted to try breakfast & asked how long the kitchen was taking for food. We had to be done by 11am... but the waitress came back & said there were tickets still not cooked so 20mins. Not much sense of urgency in general. It wasn't awful but I was disappointed so I can't recommend a stay here. read more

They don't treat guests who come with a group rate very well. They $10 and $20 dollar you to death. $14 for parking each day, $10 for internet each day, $8 for the two cups of coffee in your little coffee maker in the room, $3 for a small bottle of water, no refrigerator. At the budget hotel down the street they give you free internet, free breakfast, free parking, a free bottle of water each day, a free newspaper, free coffee in your room and free coffee all day in the lobby. The budget hotel also has a refrigerator and microwave in the room. Ambiance, right!!: We were on the freeway on the third floor so we had a good view of the freeway when the lower floors could only see the tops of the cars streaming by. There are no views from any room in the entire hotel as the architectural style is early medieval fort. There is one elevator and it was a 5 minute walk to it from our room so it was easier to walk down the cement lined stairway, which was the recommended route from the desk clerk. This is not a place to stay to enjoy southern Ca. This is convenient to the racetrack and fairgrounds. If you must stay here, negotiate free parking and internet as part of the reservation and get it in writing, Buy your wife jewelry with the money you save by doing this. read more

I did not write a review the last time i tried contacting the hotel. The reason is that i have stayed there more than 15 times and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, the service at the front desk the last two times I have tried to contact the hotel has been atrocious. The front desk clerk could not have been more rude. I have been a Hilton Honors member for more than 20 years and the two times I have called the Hilton San Diego for assistance i have been spoken to rudely, treated like I was an idiot that did not know what I was talking about and hung up on. I will stay at L'Auberge. At least they understand customer service. read more

Apparently I should have looked at Yelp before deciding to go with this hotel for my wedding! I was shocked and appalled by the Hilton, unfortunately in more ways than one. The Executive Meeting Manager that I was working with went on vacation a week before our wedding, which is completely understandable, but she didn't leave any other contact information for someone to work with in her absence. Of course, I didn't think I would need any help but boy, was I wrong... We were hoping for early check in on Friday so that we could get ready for our rehearsal down the street. It wasn't possible, which I understand BUT we booked two Executive Suites and they weren't ready until SEVEN PM when check-in was at 3pm. That's unacceptable. My parents and I were there at 3pm and didn't have a room to get ready in for the wedding rehearsal and had to use our other family members rooms. We had also booked two of the Junior Suites in April, six months before our wedding. We knew we wanted four plus suites and thus knew we needed to plan and book ahead. It turns out the hotel went through a renovation and got rid of the Junior Suites but never told us. When we checked in, they just gave us two standard rooms and were incredibly confused when we opened the door expecting a suite and saw a regular room. These suites were for our families and for the groomsmen. I understand that things happen, but I couldn't believe they wouldn't reach out to us and let us know. Again, unacceptable. At this point, I'm pretty upset. I have no room to get ready in, went to the room I thought was going to be a Junior suite to find out that it's not. I rush to get ready and then head to the front desk to try and find out what's going. Only at that point, does the manager tell us they got rid of the rooms during the remodel. Also, when my husbands cousin and his girlfriend checked in they were given two keys. My husband's cousin when to see his family, while his girlfriend went to the room to change and make a quick trip to the gym. She finished a short workout when she got a call from her boyfriend wondering where her stuff was. She explained she left it on the bed. It turns out, the front desk gave her the key to someone else's room! Thank goodness the people in the room she gave her were out for the day but when she returned, sure enough, someone else's luggage was in the room and because she was in a rush, she hadn't noticed. She immediately took her luggage and went to the front desk to get a key to the correct room. The Presidential Suite on the first floor itself was fine and ended up being a great place for us to get ready the morning of the wedding. But suite on the third floor was in need of repairs. My husband went to take a shower, and the stopped on the bottom came off and the door fell into the shower almost cutting him. I will say that in order to rectify the situation they offered us complimentary valet parking since our Presidential suite wasn't ready until 7pm and gave us a slight discount on the suites. I don't know what I expected from them to resolve the situation but free valet parking and a slight discount wasn't it. I definitely won't EVER be staying here and wouldn't suggest that anyone stay at this hotel. read more

Very clean, relaxing stay. Especially during covid, you really want to feel secure resting your head somewhere. The cleanliness & freshness made us feel at home. One of the big things for me are showers. The shower was spotless! The whole bathroom felt really clean. I always sanitize things when staying in a hotel. I did that here, but honestly everything was already quite pristine. With the exception of door handles, be sure to wipe those down. There were no disturbances from neighbors, it felt like we were there all alone but the rooms next to us were in use. The elevators are in somewhat odd locations, we had to take three flights of stairs down & up from our car. Which was fine for us but someone who minds might want to ask for a room close to elevators. The bartender was extremely rude & seemed almost as if we had bothered him with our presence, it was not busy at all. We didn't end up ordering anything from him, I wish I caught his name. The girl at the front desk was ok, the guy was very nice, again I wish I had caught names. We used the coffee machine in our room, the coffee was terrible. I went down to grab more cream & sugar, the nice guy at the front was very generous & offered more items. The cream & sugar unfortunately did not help the coffee. But luckily there are a couple nearby Starbucks. Good location, next to freeway. About 20min to Gaslamp. read more

$19 parking for a place not downtown is ridiculous. It was either that or $23 for valet, no other options. The girl at the front desk and the bartender were not very friendly and I finally had to go to the bar to get a drink because the server was M.I.A. The service here was horribly slow. The outdoor garden area and pool are great but no one was out there on a nice sunny day. My small room was in an inconvenient place and I had to take the stairs because the elevator was very far away. Overall the layout of this place is not that good. Hi def flat screens were the best thing about this hotel, if I could get better than 50% of the channels because of poor reception. The screen would just go black and say "no signal". My bathtub did not drain and I was usually taking a shower in ankle high water. I have changed my review, this is the maybe the worst hotel I have ever been at on a trip. The service is horrendous at the bars and restaurants and they were closed from 11am until after 6pm on Sunday, i think because of construction. It would be courteous of them to at least notify guests of the changes and effects to their amenities. I would not stay here if I had to and would prefer a vehicle. The flat screen TV in my room barely got any reception and I had to go off property to watch any sports at all. I loathe the fact that I was stuck at this hotel on a Sunday. It was absolute torture. I finally got upset enough to call the manager on duty to express my displeasure with multiple facets of their facilities. I was not surprised that I never did receive a call back or any type or apology. I stay at hotels about twice a month and never was this dissapointed. The day that I left I was awoken twice by room service seeing if I had left yet so they could clean my room. When I left for breakfast the lady was asking me when I was leaving and I told her around 10:30am. When I went to the stairwell it smelled like marijuana.... I'm certain. i returned from breakfast and was packing up around 10:00am when yet another person was knocking at my door to see if I had left yet. My words were not kind to this person. This place is not worthy of the Hilton name... other than the price. read more

I was not the one who chose this hotel.. but next time I take a trip you can bet I'll do a little research and pick the hotel! The location was too far from Del Mar restaurants and beach for the price they charge. It's literally bordering the 5 freeway. Ambiance? The nearest dining is Dennys, and AM-PM. You cannot see the beach. The hotel is sandwiched between the freeway and the racetrack. Our room was dirty. I went to make coffee, and the cups were totally unwashed. There was a strange substance all over the curtains. Maybe someone was shaking up their sun tan lotion and the lid came off, I didn't want to know what was on the curtains...merely why a maid didn't wipe or replace the obviously icky curtain well illuminated by the window! -$14 a day for parking for hotel guests. -$10 a day for internet, per computer, for hotel guests. -$3 per bottle of water (these are in your room upon arrival) I met some people on the beach paying $50 less a night at the Stratford Best Western. They were MUCH closer to the beach, free internet, clean room, no freeway noise, the business area of town was waking distance for them to eat and shop. That family may have had a smaller room than us, but I'd trade square footage for beach access, no bio-hazards and the price differance. Next time I'll check Yelp and compare hotels! The staff were mostly nice and helpful at Hilton. They told me how to drive to the beach and gave advice about parking and lunch. But we hadn't driven down to be so isolated from town or the beach. If you are here for the race track, this might be a good hotel for you....if you don't mind strange fluids on the drapes and dirty coffee cups. read more

No. Yea, i gave it 3 stars because the room was clean, the price was right, and the staff was friendly. The Priceline bid was accepted and we were stoked to be staying at 'the luxurious' Hilton Del Mar. Luxurious? Not really, but it was surely a step up from a Days or Comfort Inn....nuttin too special though. At least thats how we felt about it. Other 'guests' acted as if this hotel was their own personal Ritz Carlton (thats a fancy hotel right?). I dunno, fine dining, fancy hotels, things im not really schooled on very well. Here, I realized....maybe im not really White (or is it Caucasian...perhaps Italian American?). The people that were staying here, were WHITE! You know, like the White, that thinks theyre better than everyone because they have a lot of those; what are they?...oh yea, dollars. Those folks that dont have a clue what reality is, the peoples that buy their kids brand new BMW's because they got an A in math and dont even flinch at an $18 parking fee! Eighteen dollas?! You crazy! Im parkin at Whole Foods and walkin 4 blocks! Yup, thats who's stayin here, at your 'luxurious' Hilton Del Mar. Might be right for you and yours, but for me, im gunna have to say....no thank you! read more

My husband and I recently stayed at the Hilton Del Mar for our 30th wedding anniversary. While I would give the property itself 3 stars, the service took it up a notch. The rooms were nice, fairly large well appointed but nothing to write home about. The service was superb. We had noted that it was our anniversary and were upgraded to a pool view room. My biggest complaint about the room was the fact that all of the interior room doors SLAMMED when they closed. It made a relaxing mid-day nap difficult. I also agree that the $18 parking fee is a rip off. Arriving home from dinner and a movie night one we were surprised to find an ice bucket with complimentary champagne and a note to look in the fridge. We were delighted to find a tray of chocolate covered strawberries. Such a thoughtful gesture and it made our stay all the more memorable. We would definitely stay again for sure. read more

This was our second stay at this hotel. Our first experience was fantastic, we had our dogs with us and the property really worked for us. Second visit, total disaster. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, though we did arrive before check-in and fully anticipated having to wait a bit for our room, I was not prepared to deal with the rude employees manning the desk. They were curt, irritated to have to deal with anyone and they would flat out ignore some of us. We sat in the lounge, we were clearly visible by the front desk employee, and sat there for 2 1/2 hours and $75 dollars later, I had to again go up and ask about our room. I was about 10 minutes from calling Hilton Honors and having them walk me to another property, the attitudes of the employees were that bad. We finally get our room, it's the worst room on the bottom floor with a sliding door/patio. Our room faced the pool pump. That's it, that's all we could see. It was horrible, the pump was so loud you couldn't even sit out on the patio and read. The hotel was booked so getting another room wasn't going to happen. The executive lounge wasn't any better. Both evening and morning, the employee manning the lounge didn't acknowledge us when we entered or when we left. I could go on and on but I'll just say that as Hilton Honors member, I'll take my business to another property, I will not be staying here again. read more

So, the hotel was clean and in good shape (for the most part, keep reading) and the staff was helpful and friendly. However: 1. Parking was $17/night. 2. Breakfast was only free if you had status. I don't know what level of status you needed, I have gold. The last time I stayed in a Marriott breakfast was free to everyone. 3. All of the ice machines were either broken of missing. I was able to get ice at the bar but this isn't the sort of thing I expect out of a hotel I paid good money for. 4. I couldn't get their alleged free (for everyone) wifi working. The first night I couldn't get my VIP Hilton Honors internet working either because I couldn't rest my password without internet and I couldn't get on the internet without my password. Even when I did get my VIP internet access working it would frequently stop working for dozens of minutes at at time. On the plus side I enjoyed the pool and hot tub and I thought that my room was very nice other than lacking a kitchenette or even a mini fridge. read more

Outside areas are nicer than the rooms. We had two rooms booked and ended up on different floors. BOTH rooms had leaky sinks and showers that constantly dripped. Hot water was seriously scalding!! We asked for nice rooms as this was our first visit and paid for a view upgrade. One room faced the parking lot and freeway and the other room looked out at a tree. (They did refund us the upgrade fee for their poor room location choices). The rooms could all use some professional maintenance attention. Having water dripping, humming/buzzing noises from the room phone, and other issues can make or break a positive experience. This was our first vacation in over a year and we were sadly disappointed with this hotel choice. read more

Not up to Hilton standards at all. Our three night stay here was a comedy of errors. First, we repeatedly reported that our bathtub tap had a steady stream of water coming out of it. It was not until the third evening of our stay that this was addressed. I calculated that over 400 gallons of water were lost in this time - and in the midst of a severe California drought. Housekeeping was late or non-existent. When our room was not made up and we called for towels, it took 2 calls and an hour and a half for them to be delivered. On our second full day we left the hotel at 9AM and requested that the room be made up by 2PM, when we would be returning and would have a couple friends coming by. This was not done in what was an ample amount of time. We were able to have the room freshened that evening when we went out again, accompanied by a fruit and cheese plate (good gesture). The response from the front desk when we called was, "Did you have the 'do not disturb' sign on the door?" No, we did not, and that's not the right response when a guest calls. At dinner in their restaurant, one member of our party was served her entree a full 15 minutes after the rest of us as we watched our food become cold while waiting for her to be served. Further, there is one small elevator in a hotel that is wrapped around the pool like a Holidome without the dome, so that if you are on the opposite end of the hotel and parked near your room you either schlepp your bags up and down up to three flights of stairs or you have a long walk. The room was comfortable and modern with plenty of storage space and a small, basic bathroom with shallow tub. In terms of customer service and attention to our very easy requests, this was by far the worst Hilton of any we have stayed in. read more

Very unimpressed. Second time(recently, with in the last month) I've stayed at the Hilton. After this visit I wouldn't go back. At our last stay we found a bug crawling in the bed.. EW! I'm giving them two stars even though it doesn't deserves it. First off my TV didn't work and the heater/ac wasn't working properly. I called front desk and they sent the 'engineer.' He fixed the TV apparently the cord was coming out. As for the heater/ac it wasn't resolved. We turned the heat on 80 degrees F when we went to the costal kitchen came back and it was still freezing. Then turned it up to 87, still cold.. After the engineer came and couldn't fix it the AC. He told us the front desk would bring us blankets and they never did. They said if got to cold to call and we could swap rooms. He also offered us two breakfast coupons. Well half way through our stay I had to change rooms cause I have anemia and was freezing. They gave us two more breakfast coupon. We were only staying a night so didn't get to the second coupon. I tried to give them to someone staying but no one in the lobby was staying another night so I gave them to valet & asked them to give them to the next car they parked. Overall unimpressed & wouldn't go back. & on top of that in our second room the toilet was leaking from the base. read more

Ok, ok, I said I wouldn't stay at another Hilton but.... This one is probably the best! They have ROOM SERVICE!!! 6AM-10PM, a bar and an out door cozy seating with little fire-pit tables. Prior to me booking this room... I had some specific requests and guess what? As I was booking the last available room someone snagged it seconds before I did! I thought I was doomed! We have to get to the race track in 24 hours and this is the only hotel that's close to the track... I had the luck of being transferred to a front desk associate by the name of Miguel. He went above and beyond to ensure that my fiancé and I got the room we wanted and made sure every detail was checked off. Very thorough, fast, and he's the guy that makes miracles happen when it's nearly midnight and your rubbing your sweaty forehead thinking "$&!?)@." Got to the room... Everything he said he would do... He did!!! Best hotel! The staff, the valet! All the people that you deal with for 30 seconds matter because that's what makes your day. Thank you Hilton Del Mar! read more

OK, so what can you say about a budget-priced Hilton? The room was clean, the water in the shower was hot, and the toilet worked. You're in a place for one night, and as Tom Bodett used to say in those Motel 6 ads, "We look just like those big, fancy hotels when you're asleep with your eyes closed . . . " OK, so what are the two most important parts of a hotel for the business traveler in town one day for a conference? The bar and the in-room coffee. (OK, three. The conference center.) The bar has six beers on tap, including a local microbrew. Kudos for that. The in-room coffee sucks, but it's pre-ground pods (like everywhere else) and they use real half-and-half, as opposed to that fake powdered non-dairy creamer $#!+, so kudos for that. In the morning, the bar doubles as an espresso bar, but a) they use pods again (yuck!) and b) the bartender doesn't know how to use the machine. No kudos there. Conference room was clean, and the AV stuff worked. All in all, it's a fine place to stay of you're there for a conference or all you want to do is go to the track . . . it's not a great choice if you're going to San Diego/Del Mar/La Jolla for a vacation. * * * * * EDIT: Oh, yeah -- what's this about Wi-Fi??? $9.95 for Wi-Fi access in your room and/or hotel lobby, but it's FREE in the conference center? WTF?!?!?!? read more

I liked this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. From that perspective, the place couldn't have been better. To be honest, I'd gladly stay here again if the situation warranted it. So why the 2-star review? I'll tell you why: This hotel is run by cheap-asses. Here are a list of the bastard charges/lack of amenities that pertain to this hotel: -$14 a day for parking for hotel guests. -$10 a day for internet, per computer, for hotel guests. -$3 per bottle of water (these are in your room upon arrival) -No refrigerator in the room. These may sound like nit picky things, but charges like these really start to add up and by the end of the trip you're just pissed off. I mean, this is supposed to be a nicer hotel. You'd think that wireless would be complementary. If this were a Motel 6 I could understand, but not a Hilton. To be honest, if it weren't for these nickel and dime fees I would have definitely given the place 4 or 5 stars. As I said, the staff was great and the grounds were nice. but paying $10-$20 here and there for simple things is really liable to leave a bad taste in a guest's mouth. read more

I imagine all of the dog owners that invaded the place toward the end of my stay were probably raving, compared to a highway drive with a car full of dogs it's probably presidential. The interior was stale, definitely nearing renovation/redecoration. The rooms smell a little "musty" and deodorizer is detectable. I had the misfortune of staying during what appeared to be both a local dog show and a local circus visit (at least I hope that thing isn't permanent). I had dogs barking all around (including the room next door, where large dogs barked for much of Friday afternoon) and a very loud circus just outside the entrance which is next to a Denny's and a gas station. I paid $14 per day for the privilege of parking my own car out back and having to use the stairs to the third floor, as the one elevator at the property was two lengths of the building (square) back, near the front. I got free internet and an upgraded room, because I have diamond status, but the room upgrade was just for an extra, small sitting room, with another large TV that I didn't need. (A fridge would have been nicer). I woke up with a really itchy bite mark on my index finger on the last day. If all of the dogs and the circus weren't there, I still wouldn't be impressed. I ate the food one evening, meh, kinda expensive (even for spending someone else's money) for what it was. I didn't find the stay relaxing and averaged 5-6 hours of sleep per night. My upgraded room backed onto the staircase and I could hear slamming doors and footsteps on the stairs. The toilet didn't flush properly, a previous guest probably left his review there, instead. My impressions of the Hilton name brand hotel chain is lowering by the year. Over priced room service seems to be the only draw for this entire, aging brand. I had already spent a month of 2010 in "Hilton" hotels, based on little more than location alone, which this property did not possess as a redeeming quality. A picture of the coast on this hotel's hilton page suggest a close proximity to the beach/coast - it's not in reasonable walking distance and the picture may ironically be taken from another nearby hotel property, or at least within actual walking distance from it. If I'm back in town, this property will be near the bottom of my list of choices, In-fact, I'd take a Marriott property in-spite of collecting hhonors points. read more

This hotel wasn't BAD, but is absolutely not worth your money. I ended up staying here because I was attending a three-day tournament at the fairgrounds, which is right across the street. Had I been willing to deal with a little inconvenience, I would have paid significantly less, and besides saving money, would have gotten the following you'd expect a Hilton would automatically provide: free continental breakfast, free wifi ($10/day? Hells no), staff that might have fixed our TV when my roomie complained, a fridge in the room, and a working elevator. Friday evening, the elevator stopped working, as noted by signs with absurd spelling errors. Late Sunday morning when we left, it was still broken. I found out later that the elevator ceiling had COLLAPSED on two people I know. The hotel could have compensated them in numerous ways, and you'd think they'd happily do so to to avoid a potential lawsuit, but instead...they chose to comp each of the people a $25 bar tab. And that's all. Uh, really? One of the teams involved in the tournament had dinner in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant had been notified a day in advance that a large party would be coming, and despite only one other full table in the entire place, I was told the service was completely inadequate. The restaurant had more than enough warning, but they still pulled that? My only props go to: Corey, who worked parking. What a sweet guy! I was bummed if we came back from the Fair and he was off shift. Del Mar Hilton, please give him a raise. Seriously folks: Best Western next time. read more

Very disappointed. Out in middle of nowhere and still charges 23 dollars a day for parking? It's seems very petty but when you are paying for premium like a Marriott or 4 seasons, type place you would expect the parking to be included. The rental cost less per day than the parking. It would cost less to park a mile from the facility and take a Lyft to the hotel. The rest of the facility was also mediocre. Room looks like a best western. Now I am not hating on best western, I love them, like the pismo beach one... but Hilton is charging again a premium and delivering best western. In hind sight I should have airbnb'd. Common Hilton. Get with the 21 century. read more

Urgh. Disgusting, over-priced hotel and the hotel manager is a snobby dick. What, you think you're better than me because you're a manager of this booty motel? Priceline rates this as a 3.5 hotel. Hah! I've stayed at other Hiltons and they are usually classified as a 3 start and they offer free parking and free internet in their business centers. This place charges you $14 for parking (right next to the lovely freeway), charges you to use their business room and would charge you for anything else if they can get away with it (check your credit card statement a few days after you leave). Like someone else said, the exterior is lovely but the interior is not. Walls are not sound-proof, I actually heard my next door neighbor blowing her nose and the bathroom was tiny and old. The bathroom at the Hilton in Pleasanton was twice the size of this little crap-shack and it didn't have stains in the bathtub. Gross. The shower/bathtub also had a tap that kept on leaking throughout the night. You couldn't turn it off properly even when trying to close it all the way through. Guess they give the really crappy rooms to Priceline customers. The only helpful and friendly staff was the two guys manning the valet and the parking lot. We asked the front desk guy on the phone if we could get the directions to the Pizza Hut and even though he said there was a Pizza Hut in the city, he couldn't look for the directions. Plus, he put me on a long hold. I feel sorry for the guests who pay the full rate at this hotel. Surely, you can get a better deal by staying at the other hotels lined up next to the beach. My friend and I were driving on highway 101 and we saw the Best Western and Courtyard Marriot just right next the beach, plus they were probably cheaper and nicer than this hell-hole. Giving this a 2 star only because of the beds and the great housekeeping staff. read more

Most likely the last visit. Our room was filthy! There were items in room and surfaces that made you want to get a paper bag! Along w/a hazmat suit. There a too many things for me to list. Seriously! Housekeeping was called more than once. An automatic $18. a DAY for parking! While most of the time gates were up for ANYONE to enter and exit as they please. One time we even tried to exit and automatic gate would not allow us or cars waiting behind us to leave. Call button did nothing or was broken. We were all forced to drive around hotel property to use other gate which was wide open! Normally this wouldn't be that big an ordeal but did I mention we were automatically billed $18.00 a day for parking.! We asked to speak to management upon checkout but were told none was available. They didn't really seem like they care. It is puppy friendly But Not clean enough even for them. (2/14/14) read more

Husband and I have stayed here a few times and brought our kids on this last stay. Always a 5-star experience. I love this hotel, and refuse to stay anywhere else when I'm near. Rooms are pristine, love the spacious bathrooms. The lounge is worth the upgrade. Very secure location and the shuttle takes you anywhere in a five-mile radius. I highly recommend booking first floor, pool side. The patios are an awesome place for a nightcap :) The staff is wonderful. They are always so helpful and friendly. Such a great property. read more

Although from the outside looking in (you can spot it driving pass Villa del la valle on 5-South), it appears dingy (hey I'm just being real) but the hotel rooms wraps around the court yard/pool in the center and actually I found it pretty cozy in our own little resort. Small hotel for Hilton, but the fact restaurant goes outside the courtyard area to enjoy nice SoCal weather while fireplace and quiet(surprise you won't be bothered with highway noise at all) ambiance. Of course for those who are seeking place to stay for Del Mar track race related, it's a pure walking across proximity. Courtesy van can take you and pick you up anywhere within 5miles radius, which includes Solana Beach train station(That can take you to downtown SD in 30min for $6-8bucks if that). read more

Cons: Filthy room on arrival, housekeeping never showed, gave free parking then charged us for it. Even personal experience gripes aside, a middling hotel located right next to a freeway. Pros: A couple of very nice people. The room we arrived into had used soap and shampoo in the shower, a half-drank bottle of water on an end table, which we called in - not expecting anything, just letting them know for their housekeeping. Then we pulled back the topsheet and it looked like someone had shaved in the bed. I went downstairs and told the front desk clerk who was as embarrassed as one should be about it and was very helpful in moving us to a better room. He also gave us free parking (which is quite a plus in a town that charges for parking everywhere, including their own registered guests) and access to their Club Lounge VIP. The better room was indeed better. But the housekeeping service never came to pick up the next day, and the toilet was broken. I could have called this in and probably should have but it was a broken chain and easy enough to fix myself. The door also started to reject our keys in the evening which I would normally attribute to being next to my wallet but I was wearing a suit and had the pocket space to keep everything separate. When the door didn't work the new clerk on shift questioned me why I had VIP access to things before helping me. Finally, they either lied about the free parking or reversed the original desk clerk's decision and we were only given half-price parking. Which they "graciously" comped after writing to them. Overall, an awful experience. read more
