I don't mind suffering for a few miles on a trail knowing that a warm cortado is waiting for me at the end. Rooster Moon Coffeehouse feels a bit cramped, but their cortado and service was good. The River House was one of the nearby locations they came to play at. So, we paid an exploratory visit a week prior to the Daniele Kelly Trio event, to get an idea what the place would feel like. It felt gentle and eye-pleasing in a subtle, understated way. The River House sits atop a tree-covered bank of the Cacapon river, near the green riveted truss bridge, in a way symbolizing the confluence point of the "eternal" and the "transient" :) Inside the venue there was a similarly quiet, ASMR-inducing cozy vibe, a "little steadfast island of goodness in the sea of confusion and discontent" sort of feel. Instead of describing the food and the decor in detail, I would say, If you travel in that direction, by all means check out the River House. Chances are you will end up liking it - the way we did.

The sandwich was on fresh delicious bread. They have a great selection of items here and we would definitely make the pit stop again - hopefully with more time to wait for custom orders.
