Check engine light came on as I was heading down 70 West. I managed to hobble into a gas station and the most helpful attendant called 5-6 places to help me get an oil change. Every place was booked, but Diehl's referred us to Hilltop Auto Center. Called Hilltop and though they sounded full, they agreed to help me out. They were so nice when I arrived. They expected me, bc we called, but they were welcoming and kind. I just lost my father, so all little signs of him in the universe are resonating right now. This one spoke loudest: the Bible on the counter open to Psalms. What auto place do you that answers prayers and provides faith served up right on the counter? I know I needed it right in this moment and the kind souls here blessed me more than they could know. read more

I would leave 0 stars if I could. After hitting a deer almost 3 hours from home I was reluctant to take my car to them but they had good reviews (not sure how). First, Customer service is NON-EXISTANT. After having my car for almost a month we were told my vehicle was done on Friday afternoon. We proceeded to tell them that we would be there first thing Monday morning (almost three hours). Drove up to see a flat back tire and the other 1/2 flat. We asked to have it put on the lift to double check and glad we did. Things that were supposed to be taken care of were missing (exhaust shield) and bolts not all present on back bumper. The deer took out my fog lights and they may have replaced them, but they never check them as I had no working fog lamps. They could not give me an answer as to why my tires were flat and wanted me to drive another 5-6 hour round trip to fix things that they were supposed to do the first time! They did end up fixing my fog lamps but everything else will be completed by either my son or a local shop to me. Avoid Hilltop, make the extra drive into Frostburg or Cumberland if you can (unfortunately we could not). read more

We don't even live in state but we often wait to get our car checked until we're in Grantsville because they're better than any of the garages where we live. Couldn't recommend enough! read more

Great service at a great price! As a single female, I was traveling with two small kids from D.C. To Cincinnati. My engine light came on and this was the closest auto shop I could find off the expressway. I walked in without an appointment and they looked at my car immediately. They were able to quickly identify the problem, showed me the parts that did and did not need to be replaced and had it fixed within a few hours. Usually I take my car to the dealership and feel like I'm overpaying for service, but here I walked away with great service at a great price! read more

We had been shopping around for a fair + honest mechanic to replace a rotor + brake pads on our jetta 2.0L. some places were quoting us horrendous prices. thankfully, family recommended these guys. after an unbelievably lower quote, we dropped off our car this AM @ 8: 30 (without any appointment) + car was ready before 12 noon. now, car is ready for a cross-country road trip + rides like a dream! hilltop was a life saver! read more

I was driving back to DC area from Pittsburgh on Labor Day 2020 when my car lost the last bit of transmission fluid it had just as I approached Exit 19 on I-68 (Grantsville, Maryland) and I coasted off the exit ramp into an convenience store. They gave me the business card for this place and I had my car towed there on a Hope and prayer the next day they could fix it. The next morning I was at the shop just after opening and explained my problem. Manager asked for couple "hours" to see what they could do. After having breakfast and found their mechanic "Herman" filling it with transmission fluid after he replaced the leaking section of the line with a new good section of line. I was on the road shortly after 11am, and the cost was a fraction of what I had prepared myself for. Can't say I will ever have the need for their services again, but this garage and everyone I met there couldn't have done any better by me. Hopefully the local folks there already know what a great service they provide. I am very very grateful they were there for me! read more

Wonderful service, here. I came in with a bad alternator on a Friday afternoon and the folks here did everything they could to make sure I got back on the road that day, including going down to pick up the part for me when the parts supplier said they might not be able to deliver it that day. Hilltop did a great job on my van and did not try to overcharge me. I wish everyplace could be as understanding and honest as this place is. read more

Terrible.....I stopped there on an emergency! My father just passed away and I was traveling a 6 hr trip after 2 1/2 hours my car breaks down. Wouldn't go more than 10 miles an hour up mountains. Any way the owner asked if he could test drive it to get a pizza for lunch. After he came back he says "I don't see anything wrong with it, it did bog down on a hill a little bit. I suggest you get back on the highway and if you have the same problem, pull over and let it cool down. Needless to say I turned around and went back home. I found out from my regular mechanic It was a catalytic converter. read more
