They saw me on one of the worst days of my life. When our own vet couldn't/wouldn't get us in for an urgent euthanasia for a suffering dog, they got us in as a new patient on the same day. Needless to say I was a mess. But everyone, from the person answering the phone call to the receptionist and vet techs to the Dr., was so patient, kind and caring. Everything was clearly explained, I was given time to say goodbye and hold my pet. The procedure, while heartbreaking, was done quickly and efficiency. I had a pregnant mama that was having difficulties. I called them about 230.pm to Let them know what was going on when she wasn't having them on her own. I called them back around 6 PM. They don't close till 10 and I told them I had emergency I needed to be seen. They told me that they were at their limit of emergencies for the day. I'm like excuse me I do everything you ask I bring you all 6 to 8 dogs throughout the year,! do my yearly exams like they ask me to that way I have no issues getting in if I have an emergency and this is what they told me and I'm very very upset. I had to drive two hours away from my home and I had to pay triple for the C-section and like I said they were still open for four more hours. I would not take my pet there again. The Staff gave me Serious Meds to give my Cat and never contacted me at all to see how he was doing . I had to put my Cat Down . Not a good Experience with this Facility. None of my cats are going there anymore. They even Suggest you put your Animal Down before helping you . I think this is the most Horrible Vet I've ever been to. The Doctor put my Cat on a Serious Drug Gabapentin and never contacted me to see how he was doing. Never again will I take my pet there. My cat recently had to get euthanized he had a mass on his lungs and it burst he was 16 years old. He was having trouble breathing and the mass had burst he was feeling up with blood so the right thing to do was euthanize him which was one of the hardest things to do. they was all so good and caring that night they talked with me and was there for me brought me water and let me spend time with him. I would definitely go back to them if I ever got another pet. There are several veterinarIan's work there I always chose Dr. Jesse Ebner she was so good to him and Dr. Speed was to they all are good Doctors there he seen almost everyone of them they are all the best and the staff there are to. Called after hours for an emergency with my calf who was showing signs of pneumonia. Dr. Joe responded quickly, talked me through what to do and what to watch for. When it was time to decide she needed treatment he was there in no time. Took his time evaluating her, teaching us how to give injections that she would need the next few days and continued to call and check on her the next few days. I would not suggest this Vet to anyone. All I have to say is to Make sure that if your pet is having a medical emergency it is not occurring before they close at 10PM. This clinic not only ignored my friend's pet's heart problems but failed to provide them with proper guidance on how to navigate this medical treatment. I had an emergency last Saturday night with my 29 year old mare. I called Hillside and within 5 minutes of that call, I got a call from Dr. Doherty. After filling her in on what was going on, she was there within 20 minutes. I knew what had to be done with my mare, but in my heart, I still did not want to make that call. Dr. Doherty was patient and informative and let me come to the realization as to what was best for my mare. I knew what had to be done but she let me make the decision. They have no one caring for boarded pets for 13 hours at a time on the weekends even on the hospital side. Katie the "area manager" will gaslight you when you question her about the changes in hours or care levels that previously existed before they were purchased by the conglomerate. We used the groomer back in August 2014. The groomer wasnt good at grooming. Which should be a requirement. Pretty sure whoever it was learned their techniques in an Amish community. I got a good laugh for several weeks as he ran around the house on Rumspringa. All jokes aside, my girlfriend didnt want to be rude when she picked him up, so she didn't say anything, and we ended up paying around $60 on a haircut that they never should have let the dog walk out with. Boarded our two dogs at Hillside for 48 hours beginning on 12/31/2022. Absolutely a horrible experience. We picked them up on the morning of 1/2/2023. Loading them in the car, we noticed that both of their entire bodies were very damp. Thought they had just been bathed, but that was not the case, they were both soaked with urine. We left a sizable dog bed and a blanket for them, and both of those were saturated with urine, to the point they needed to be wrung out. The attendant apologized for the condition of the bedding, saying she had not had time to run them through the wash. Which is to say that she hadn't had time to cover up the neglect our dogs were subjected to over the New Year's weekend. And we were only charged $82 per day for this neglect. We've used HIllside for boarding in the past but never again. Such poor, neglectful care. If you care about your animals, this is not your place. And I would not trust the care provided by any vet associated with this establishment. read more

Ruined a fantastic weimaraner litter by docking tails as nubs. The pup owners marked the docking length and were not allowed to witness, vet docked tails to nubs at best. Total incompetency and took no responsibility. Owners were told to leave and never return for services, many year users of the practice. I have been using for 5 years after by former vet of 30 years retired. I always book with Doc. Tucker. She is amazing, professional, compassionate and most important compatible vet. My current dog is extremely difficult to handle but she refused to give up on us. She takes all the time we need to feel comfortable. The staff i have dealt with have been excellent. While i cant speak to all the vets at this practice, i can say Doc. Tucker has exceeded all my expectations. read more

Their prices are fair and we have never questioned the diagnosis. We have had many services here from the veterinarians to the technicians. We are very pleased and do recommend them highly. 5/5 stars BUT I have only been to Hillside Animal Clinic once. But based on my first impression and experience, I absolutely feel comfortable giving 5 stars! We noticed that our sweet pup was shaking her head: a typical sign of an ear infection. Upon calling our vet, we were shocked when their voicemail noted they were no longer operating. Unfortunately, our veterinarian​ had passed away so the practice was closed indefinitely. Which led us to Hillside. When we called, they were more than helpful in giving us information on what to do as far as transferring information to pricing to an appointment within the hour. We were able to get our little pup in last minute so she could see the vet. After an hour and a half, we walked away with LOTS of information, a semi-healed pup with medication, and a teeth cleaning on the books, we were happy Hillside customers. The vet, as well as the vet tech, were so very knowledgeable and patient with our many questions. This little pup is the love of our lives and they understood that wholeheartedly. They offered us solutions for our pet's allergies, things they can do at the clinic or at home remedies. They even gave us suggestions based on what they do for their furry friends at home. It didn't seem as if they were trying to make $$$ but as if they genuinely cared for us and our pet. Overall, a really, really wonderful experience at Hillside. read more

Took my puppy there a few weeks ago, they seemed nice enough (took a couple weeks to get an appt). My pup still has issues with worms, called and left message for "pharmacy"...after 3 hours of not hearing anything, I called to follow up and was told that "my doctor" doesn't come in til 1pm so I would have to wait for more dewormer!!!!! Firstly, they are not animal lovers. None of them are affectionate toward the animals. I used to work in an animal hospital and we loved every dog that walked through that door, and all the other animals too. Secondly, If I go to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned, they clean my teeth. Nothing more. I wanted that same thing for my dog but Hillside was determined to make up things to charge me for. Things I did not want for my dog. The bill started out at $313 for teeth cleaning and that was AFTER the $122 for the Wellness visit that was REQUIRED before the teeth cleaning. That's a total of $435 for removing tartar on 2 back teeth and I was willing to pay that. My main beef: It is my dog yet I can't decide what happens to her. If they want to pull a tooth, I am not even allowed to get a second opinion, because they say it's a Standard of Care issue and they will do as they please and charge as much as they please. So it's all about the money with this vet clinic. I did NOT take her there for a Dental Checkup. I took her to have the tartar removed...PERIOD. I was told later that they are the most expensive vet in Southern Indiana. They cited the Standard of Care but that applies to how you treat a disease, it doesn't allow you to decide what to treat. So my dog did not get her teeth cleaned because I wouldn't let them milk me out of any more money. My dog went without food and water all that time while they were busy calling me on the phone to argue because they did not like that I did not blindly do what they wanted. They did not care about my dog at ALL, they were too interested in getting their way. read more

I started going to hillside even though they were 2-3x more expensive than my local vets just for the emergency services. After this weekend, I will be looking for a new vet for my next pet. I went in for a checkup of my dog's Osteosarcoma tumor on his jaw on Monday. She said to get another checkup within a month. Thursday night it began to swell and get infected, so I called the emergency care line at 2:00AM Friday and was told the doctor would call me back within 15 minutes. at 5:41, ALMOST 4 HOURS LATER, she calls. It was too late, my little boy laid in the floor suffering until he passed because you cannot rely on their emergency services. Excellent care! I took my French Bulldog here because she was suffering from severe seasonal allergies. The facility is very clean and staff personable. We had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Lauren Elsea. She not only took her time to thoroughly explain allergy options, but she also took her time to answer my questions about our other fur baby that recently passed away (who was not a patient at the time). We used Hillside for years, then our Yorkie became very ill. We rushed her to Hillside and our dog was put on oxygen. We were told to take her to Blue Pearl in Louisville, because Hillside was closing in a few minutes. We rushed to Blue Pearl, it to 45 minutes to get there. The whole time our pet struggled to breathe. The outcome was fatal. Our advise don't go to Blue Pearl, don't use Hillside in an emergency. Please do not give your small pet Nexgard. Do not take your dog there if you have an emergency or urgent matter. I'm only giving them one extra star than they deserve because the vet techs that did help us when we first got there were at least trying. I was told to arrive at 6:45pm and they would work us in. The vet waited until all other appointments were gone before she even bothered to come in to see us which was 9:55 pm, 5 mins before closing. My dog was vomiting in the room the whole time, and I had to take her outside in the pouring rain at least 4 times because she had diarrhea and could not hold it. I brought it to the staff's attention at least twice. Still nothing. I understand I didn't have an appointment, but have some decency and at least assess the situation of all the pet patients before making someone wait over 3 hours! Come in and explain to me why my pet's vomiting and diarrhea issues are less urgent than a dog getting an annual exam in the next room and maybe I'll understand. I waited over 3 hours for the vet to spend maybe 10 minutes with us, got a bill for $250, barely any apology and I was sent home with some prescriptions. Wow! I have been bringing pets here for almost 20 years and they used to be great, but the last 5 or so years they have really declined in service and professionalism. They continue to charge like a first class facility, meanwhile the "new" upholstery is already run down, floors are dirty, and air vents are nasty and clogged with dust and hair. We've been taking our dogs to Hillside for almost 15 years. The staff is pretty good, the doctors are caring and thorough; however, the wait times are horrific. If you make an appointment for 5:00, you won't go back until at least 5:30 and may not leave the clinic until 6:30. The office isn't run very well at all. As I said, very caring, thorough, and always have the best interest of the animal but if you don't like to wait then you may want to find another place. read more

i am eternally grateful for this office. i called around 630 with a sick puppy and i called when i got outside and they brought her back immediately. she immediately had an exam and every kind of test done. it turned out that my puppy had parvo and two different worms. they stayed late with me and exhausted every resource and option they had. my puppy was dying and it happened so fast they never once mentioned putting her down until i made the decision myself. we ended up putting her down because she had less than a 50/50 chance of living even with hospitalization which i cannot afford, and they were so gentle with me in letting me know how sick she was and how her prognosis was. they also told me i could bring my other dog in the next day to get him up to date on his vaccines and deworm him to prevent him from getting sick. i was so upset and they were so warm, gentle, incredibly kind to me and hugged me as i left without my puppy. i am so grateful for them. read more

Stay away from Hillside Animal Clinic. I took my dog there for an x-ray on her paw. The doctor and her assistant were rude. They hurt my dog while doing the x-ray. It was outrageously expensive and my dog only got worse after leaving the clinic. I think they dropped her. I spoke to one of the owners about my complaint. He said he would review the camera footage and get back with me, haven't heard from him. I know they dropped my dog and that escalated her problem. I have not received an apology, a refund or anything. I went to pick up my dogs x rays, got to the other vet, they gave me the wrong x ray. My dog could not walk after leaving their clinic, she only went down hill after that. I had to put my dog down and it is due to Dr. Kayla Stilger. She is inexperienced, rude and she killed my dog. Since I have heard nothing back from them, that screams guilty to me. I am filing papers against this clinic and this doctor on both the state and city level. Do yourself a favor, stay away from this place. read more

I did like this place. However I'm a little strapped for cash and called to verify pricing and also certified pricing when I arrived. I was like okay I can do the two $17 shots and trifexis because my dog needs his medicine. He didn't need his heart learn or checkup until July this year and I brought papers to show this so I could get his trifexis. After he used the bathroom outside I ran in and asked the lady how much the fecal was since he just pooed. She said 20. So I was like okay so we can go ahead and do that also with the 2 shots and trifexis. So we get to the back and I show the girl the paperwork and advise that I want the heart worm and check up done when it shows it was due on 7/20. That today I just wanted the 2 shots and that I had added the fecal for 20 and then I added his nail trim and trifexis. So after I thought she understood and I repeated myself at least 2 or three times she goes and does the test. I mean normally I'm fine sure do everything but at the moment I am stressed for cash and going through a divorce and raising four kids and our dog. So I was holding off on what I could. Clearly I thought wrong about her understanding after I had been very specific. Even showed the paperwork for her to update that it was due 7/20 and to wait until 7/20 for these two things. Well she went ahead and did the heart worm test anyway that was another 43 dollars that I had not accounted four. When I asked about the charge they was like well we already did it (without me wanting it done and asking to wait) so you have to pay and we will just take off the trifexis. Um hello taking 16 off is still not the 43 that I did. It know I was having to pay. Long story short. I paid after getting some money sent over to me and after checking 3 times the prices on what I was getting done for our dog and them giving a heart worm test on me that I did. It have the money to pay for and made it known at least 3 times. I will not be taking my dog back and my friend is also removing her dog as well. We will find a place that listens when You talk and not force test on you that you clearly ask to wait on. I would. It be so upset if I had not stressed the fact that I couldn't afford everything today and brought the papers to prove that it was not needed until 7/20/2018. I mean why did we just have a discussion and why did you just update the information to go ahead and do a test I said I could not afford today and wanted to wait. Plain rude. read more
