Our 15 year pit bull Gimma has been going there since she was 6 weeks. Gimma loved going there. Unfortunately we had to a emergency visit as Gimma started having seizures. Dr. Lipps and staff treated Gimma as one of their own. Afterwards all of the staff came out and talked to us. Now we have our 5 year silver lab Ragnar that has been going there since he was 6 months old. Highly recommend them!! read more

Today was my 1st visit; other than the diagnosis, I could not have asked for a better experience. Dr Lipps knew exactly what my fur baby needed when I explained his symptoms & ran some tests to confirm, saving his life, I'm sure! The staff were all very compassionate & professional, which kept my fur baby mellow & cooperative, enabling him to be treated. This is the only vet I trust to care for my furry family members! My dog recently got hit by a car and killed. I brought him there so the remains could be taken care of. They were very kind and compassionate. I even received a sympathy card that everyone signed. That really meant a lot to me. I have been taking all my fur babies to the Georgetown clinic at least 10 years, I love Dr Janes, she is very compassionate and professional. I trust her with my babies For example, My last fur baby was elderly very sick and suffering on Christmas Eve last year and She came out on Christmas Eve just to take care of him, how many doctors do that now days , especially on holidays. I will never forget her kindness and compassion As for the staff they have all been friendly and respectful to us I now have a new fur baby and they have been doing excellent in taking care of Bentley, my 6 month old silver lab. I have never had an issue with the actual veterinarians at Georgetown Veterinary Clinic - but with the staff. We recently moved to Georgetown which is quite a hike from our previous vet. We got a new pup about six months ago and decided to use GVC for her exams, spay and vaccines. Immediately I was struck by how rude the young woman at the front desk is if you ask questions. I was always polite, but there were often miscommunications between what I would be told on the phone and what I paid after the visit. The young woman at the front desk acted as if I was imposing on her personal time if I asked for clarification or mentioned discrepancies between front and back of house. For example, in order to schedule a spay for my pup, I had to put down a $20 deposit. No big deal - we called it in and had it charged to our card. When it came time for the spay, they had used the credit on "something else" without informing me (other vaccines?). Again, not a big deal but simply frustrating because of the lack of communication. Another time, we went in for shots and were over charged by X amount. After they ran my card for the wrong amount, I was told "its no big deal, you will just have a credit on your account for next time". I had to be too firm that I wanted to amount to be credited back to my card immediately. This was only achieved with much attitude from the receptionist. It seems like every time I go I am charged $30-$40 more than what I am quoted. Whenever my pets were in for shots or blood work, the techs would put us into a room and close the door after telling us they would be with us soon. Any time shots/blood work were necessary, they would come and get my pet and take them into an entirely different room. Although my animals always came back with a good disposition, it is concerning that they remove pets from the owners sight to give shots, etc. Most recently, I called to get a refill of my older dogs pain medicine. She's 17+ years old and we are basically at a point where we are just keeping her comfortable for as long as possible. We were last in the office in March. When I called for the refill two months later, I was told that she would have to get another "health exam" because it had been "so long since they've seen her". These "health exams" are approximately $35 and really just another way for the clinic to get extra money out of their clients, no blood work, test, etc are included in the price. I had previously discussed with the veterinarian that I did not feel my pet needed to be reevaluated every 60 days because of her advanced age and knowing that "the end is near". The veterinarian agreed that we are basically to a point of doggy hospice care. So, today I switched my pets to a different clinic near by. The new clinic is calling to retrieve my pets records and were able to get me in today to see my dog for much less than GVC. I will actively and openly warn other pet owners in the area not to use GVC - not because of the doctors, but because of the staff. read more

We love the Georgetown Vet Office. Short wait times and very nice staff. Iur pets were not stressed at all during or after their visits. other vets in our area had extremely long waiting periods even with appointment times scheduled. read more

This is the only place We take our four legged family members for years. Dr. Jaynes is great! She's very compassionate and takes great care in her approach to our fur family members. Each one is treated as if her own. Trusting in her and her staff gives great comfort in her decisions in keeping our babies healthy and happy. Well, we are changing vets because they are STILL not allowing in person visits. Waiting 20+ mins to just pickup prepaid meds is a little pitiful. Staff can sometimes be very rude and who ever the chick was that came out with her leg on a scooter was very rude and acted like she could care less how long we waited or that we said we would not be back. So I guess my 2-4 legged family members don't mean much nor does the money we paid for so many visits that we have no idea what was or was not done as we could not go inside with our pets. We won't be back and we will spread the news that this is not the best vet to take care of your pets because its more important to them that the staff have no outside contact with us nasty clients and seeing the vet in person is not important to the owners. If they can stay in business with this attitude good luck!!! read more

Mediocre at Best. While it is always important to be as fair and unbiased as possible there should be exceptions to every rule. While the staff and Doctors on the surface seem to really care about your pet's health and well being. Apparently the policies and procedures come down from the top. We asked several times for a print out and overall patient record for our beloved Dog, we have yet to receive one. The excuse is standard and consistent, "Well the transcriptionist has not gotten to it yet." Wow !!!! Even after 6 months of consistent reminders. No patient record or details of billing have appeared. Seems that Dr. James only cares about the almighty dollar and couldn't care less about your pet. My words of encouragement, Good Luck Dr. James !!! People will quickly see what I mean when they ask for details or their favorite companions medical records, or details about procedures performed on their favorite pets. Sad to say since this could be a better place for your favorite companions, but sadly probably not even worth this message I'm writing. :-( Chose another option there are many.....that provide better service and care. read more

I am terribly disappointed with this facility, In treats, I called to inquire about having our dog euthanized and was told they could not do this unless we had an account. What difference does an account or previous visit make if I am paying cash? I had taken the dog to The Shively Animal Hospital yesterday and determined her illness. As good a s those people were, kind, compassionate and knowledgeable you have to drive over there, sign in and they call you back when they can get you in. (We had a 5-8 hr wait and were called after 5 hours.). The final diagnosis was our dog had a massive tumor in her lung, pressing against her heart and it was likely she had other cancers but they were honest enough to admit no further diagnosis was really necessary, saving me the expense of further testing. I was not prepared for this news and needed some time to think and digest but, most certainly didn't want to have to go through the same time consuming process to euthanize my dog! That process would be excruciating. It would seem the veterinarians at Georgetown Animal Clinic would show some compassion for me and for our pet. I gave them one star because after I called to make the inquiry, the receptionist was kind enough to see if the veterinarian would make an exception and she did call me back to give me an answer. However, if this is the care and concern they show to pet owners, no thank you! read more

This office goes above and beyond. I live 45 minutes from this office and I would never consider taking my dog anywhere else. They have done surgery on my dog, in which case, Dr. Janes personally contacted me to keep me in the know and discuss all details prior to surgery. He has been boarded and groomed; he seemed to come home happy as can be and smelling super clean. They came in after hours to see him for an emergency once when he was small. They were very thorough and didn't leave until nearly midnight that night. Every person at the office is super friendly, patient, and great with my pooch! read more

The worst. Poor communication, no accountability or responsibility for their lack of accessibility. They charge you for unnecessary things, they are simply trying to make money at a trusting communities expense. The staff "guesses" to explain plan of care and treatment regimens & the information never adds up---They tried to treat my dog thinking it was another animal-& when we inquired we were made to feel rude and uneducated then they recognized their error and had zero attempt at service recovery--they are rude and condescending- never again. read more

Georgetown Vet Clinic has been the most rude and awful office I have ever brought my dogs to in the past 30 years! Putting up with the front desk attitudes at each appointment for the last year was building and now these past couple incidents have put me over the top with this place. It started when I scheduled my dog for his neuter in April for July surgery - called in July to check on the actual time for him and they didn't have it on the calendar - apparently they "forgot" to schedule it. They offered to squeeze me in within 2 weeks and so I thought, well maybe it's a sign not to get ther surgery so I held off until I spoke to my husband. We decided to go ahead and continue with the surgery and called back only to be told they couldn't do that date anymore and now couldn't fit me in until October, which forced me to find another vet for the neuter. I got him in at Hillside (super nice people there!). In the meantime I had placed an order online for my dog's flea and tick medication through Georgetown and paid for it like they told me I could. I just received an email message this morning that said they "declined my prescription" because I "transferred" my dog's shot records to Hillside. I also called Georgetown to see if I could come purchase an E-collar for my dog that I needed because the one I had wasn't working. They said "you transferred your records to Hillside, go ask them" - I told them "yes, because you couldn't get me in to have my dog neutered...so I can't purchase an e-collar from you?" And she said "NO" - I was like wow, this is why I am transferring completely now!! I could not believe how they treat their customers - no care in the world for the animal or their customers...they are COMPLETELY ABOUT MONEY. BTW - Hillside has been wonderful, the girls are ALL friendly at the front desk and the office is open and you actually get to go in with your animal - unlike the cold service you receive at Georgetown Vet. Made my pup appointment for routine vaccination shots - no big deal. Staff member on phone was pleasant, considerate, helpful, & informative. Arrived for appt. & dr almost immediately put us in room as if my dog was aggressive, yet he is not. In fact, she made another customer wait outside in rain with their dogs until we were in room. Even though my dog had briefly greeted a lil lab pup leaving prior to dr walking into room. At first I thought it was because of the other dogs, then heard her tell the other customer the reason she had him wait was her fear of my dog doing something or being aggressive. Appalled and confused I kinda shrugged it off because I know my dog is not aggressive & considering I've been bringing both of my animals (cat too) to this same vet all of their lives, disappointed in their lack of knowledge of my almost 2 yr old pup & poor judgement. Two vet assistants came into our room while my frightened dog hid under chair. They just stared at me, didn't try bending down to him or offering a treat or try to pet him to ease his fear or gain comfort. I explained he is timid & shy, gave them tips but they decided to leave & come back when he's not under chair??!! Few mins later one of the girls walked back in & told us to step out in hallway. She didn't say why, I had to figure it out & confirm - "Do you want me to try putting him on scale to weigh?" The girl nodded. Frustrated as ever at this point, I got him on scale. The same girls came back in room to us & one of them finally started to try being friendly to my dog. Then she asked if I had ever had some test done on him that costs over$200. I explained I came for just routine vaccinations today but will take some literature home to look over if they have any. Then both girls gave me a horribly dissatisfying look as if I didn't care about my animal or he was going to die if I didn't do whatever they wanted. Then high pressure sales kicked in & they both pressed the issue, again acting as if I don't love my dog if I don't spend a fortune on him right now. Keep in mind, at this point they still hadn't done anything (not even build trust with my pup), except weigh him, which I mostly did - they just wrote number down (hopefully). As I sat there with their words fading from my ears, I recalled the last time I brought my 11 yr old cat there for routine vacs & how shocked I was at the employees behavior then. Especially considering I've taken my cat to this vet clinic or the Portland clinic for the past 7 yrs, which is most of my cats life. There were 2 vets holding him down for vaccinations, which made sense. Until one of them positioned hand on back of my cats neck, grabbing handful of hair/skin. My cat did not like this at all & began growling. I know what this means & jump in to pick him up, comfort him & Get that woman to stop angering him. As I went to pick him up, they sternly recommended I back away & do not get close TO MY OWN CAT. Upset & confused as to why they thought those methods were necessary OR the fact they try to make me afraid of my own animal, I ignored them both, told the girl to let go of his neck, talked to my cat soothingly while scooping him up into my arms. I did not let go of him until we left. THAT was the 1st time I considered changing vets. But chalked it up to those two must be new employees. Unfortunately this business must have high turnover rate. Almost every time I was there, new employees were too. That says a lot about a business in itself. I live 5 mins from this vet but luckily same distance from another vet, which has been recommended by other animal lovers. I'm glad I did. I take both of my pets to Edwardsville Animal Clinic now. My dog did get his vaccinations that day. The workers couldn't get past incorrect judging, timid dog, or salesmen mentality enough to truly care about my animals well being. Plus they didn't trust my own word when explaining my pups characteristics. I'm done with this place. We will never go back. Not personable/interactive with pets. If you care about your pet & want them to be in good hands at vet, do not go here. read more

I have taken my animals to Dr. Janes for years and have always been happy with their care, although even with 6 dogs and 6 cats, you would think the would start to remember me. But since she has added two additional vets, things have definitely declined. I took my cat there twice in 4 months because he was limping and they assured me it was arthritis (he was 10). I finally took him to another vet, who immediately after the initial exam, knew that he had cancer in his shoulder. By the time he was diagnosed, there were no alternatives and he was put to sleep. If the tumor (which was as big as a baseball) had been found earlier, would it have made a difference? I will never know. But the fact that Dr. Coen declined to take a second x-ray when asked to do so is unforgivable. Since then, I have heard of 2 other people having issues with this practice. I still trust Dr. Janes, but I will not take my animals there ever again. read more
