We have brought our pets to Hillcrest twelve years now. Although not quite as good (in our opinion) at first we persisted and, well, they have really stepped up everything in the past several years-- client communication, front office staff and wait times, services offered, etc. The vets and techs are friendly and very knowledgable. And patient with our frightened fur-kids as well. A great facility. We have since moved 2 hours away and still use Hillcrest for routine appointments (Dr Adair is awesome!) and scheduled procedures. read more

I have been a loyal customer for 16 years. I wouldn't take my pets to any other place. Have always had great experiences, no complaints. But today's visit, is a different story. I was asked if my pet needs any other vaccines, kennel cough, lepto, etc. They were up to date on everything else. I said no, we're good. Then asked what lepto was? Again said no. Visit happened, paid and went on my way. Then got home and read the receipt that said my pet DID get the lepto vaccine. Called the office and discussed with receptionist and then she proceeded to tell me that he also got the kennel vaccine as well. Was placed on hold and then the supervisor got on and proceeded to talk to me in a condescending way, like I was the idiot. Said things like "If you didn't want those vaccines, I should have stopped them right there" First off, I didn't know what they were giving him. He had another condition. Secondly, I said no TWICE. She continued you say "Well we can't refund them because we can't take the vaccine back" Ya think? I know that. Thirdly, "I did not hear the doctor say this is the lepto vaccine, if she said it or not. But still no apology, not even a partial refund. Nothing. Very unprofessional from THAT SUPERVISOR. You really, truly find out what kind of vet you have when they see you through the death of your pet. Hillcrest was amazing. I messaged Thursday morning and Dr Hart called within half an hour and got our sweet Daisy scheduled same day. We ended up having to transfer her to the Fairmont emergency vet for overnight and back to Hillcrest in the morning where Dr Pollock (I think I have that name right ) took over her care. He was so compassionate and extremely proactive in keeping us informed regarding her response to treatment. Unfortunately things did not go as we hoped and we had to make That difficult decision. All around from our first interactions to the last all of the staff at Hillcrest were so caring and we are extremely grateful for the way everything was handled and for the care Daisy received. read more

I just moved back to WV and needed a new vet. I had several recommendations for Hillcrest so gave them a try, and glad I did. I was able to get a new patient appointment within a few weeks and the visit was thorough and gave me plenty of time to ask questions, discuss my dogs history, etc. I love their APP and ability to chat with someone without having to call knowing how busy they are. The waiting room is smallish but enough room to get pets enough distance. The staff are terrific! I'm staying with Hillcrest! read more

I'm so thankful that all 3 of my animals are established patients at Hillcrest. They are so accommodating and quick to fit us in when there are urgent needs. Recently I noticed my cat broke off her upper canine tooth and had horrible gingivitis. We're moving to Texas in 2 weeks and she won't have another established vet until probably July. I also am leaving the country for a week in 2 days. I was worried the remaining root would get infected or cause issues. I called Hillcrest. They fit me in for an evaluation 2 days later. We show up to the evaluation and they inform us that they recommend surgery to remove the tooth to be sure infection doesn't start over the next couple of months trying to get her an established vet in Texas. They were able to fit us in for surgery the NEXT DAY. I then informed them I was leaving the country so I wouldn't be here to take care of her after the surgery for meds and what not. They added us to the boarding schedule and will be keeping her for the next week for me. Thanks Hillcrest!! read more

I love this place!! Super friendly and helpful staff!! Very intelligent, interactive and great with the animals!! Love how close it is to town and there scheduling is never hard to get an appointment!! Pricing is very good in comparison to most vets!! Great parking and waiting room as well as the pet rooms where you and your pet wait! Again I can't say enough how the staff here are by far the best aspect of this place!! They were great until my dog had a medical problem. The vet skipped over a basic diagnosis of blindness even though I had mentioned multiple times that eyesight seemed diminished. I went back 3X's in 6 weeks only to be charged for a "basic" exam that told me nothing. Decided to get a 2nd opinion at Pinnacle Vet and see if the exams were standard - as the owner claimed- and wow! What a difference in the exam, attention, and care. My fiancé and I recently adopted a dog and wanted a good vet to take her to. Based on reviews, we decided on Hillcrest. She was spayed very recently, and her incision seemed to be getting infected. We took her to Hillcrest early Saturday morning and were seen quickly and without an issue, even though it was our first visit. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and Dr. Allen was wonderful! She was incredibly nice and was great with our new dog. Although I wish our first visit would have been under better circumstances, my fiancé and I can't wait to continue to take our new girl here. read more

I'm VERY disappointed with the results of my visit to your clinic. On or about Nov. 23rd 2020, my wife and I drove from Topeka, KS to your clinic. We were advised by my dog breeder that your clinic was the place to go in order to get x-rays of my female Chesapeake Bay Retriever's hips and elbows. The purpose of which was to get OFA certification so that we may breed her. The veterinarian that took the x-rays told me that her hips and elbows were "no problem" and that she would submit them to OFA for certification. On Dec. 18th OFA informed me that the results of the x-ray were "borderline" for hip dysplasia. Accordingly her hips were not certified by OFA. I called your clinic Jan. 4th 2021, and spoke to the receptionist and explained to her the situation. She advised she would get in contact with the appropriate veterinarian and would get back to me alter the same day. I received NO phone call back and again called the next day Jan. 5th but was told the person I needed to speak with was gone for the day. I did however receive a call from the vet that performed the x-ray on Jan 6th. She informed me that I probably "got a picky radiologist". As I understand it a group of 3 radiologists review the x-rays and come to a consensus. She also advised me she was happy with "technique" and would not redo the images without a charge. Needless to say I am EXTREMELY disappointed with my experience with your clinic. read more

I have been a loyal client with Hillcrest for the three years that I have been in Morgantown and trusted my pets to their care. I truly hate to do this because the staff members at Hillcrest are so friendly, and I wish my situation did not work out the way that it did. . Here is my story. A few months ago, my dog was hit by a pick-up truck. It was clear that he had head trauma, and I even explicitly expressed my concern about his head. His leg was patched up and I was told that all of the damage was soft tissue and that he was good to go home the next day. About a month and a half ago it became clear that my dog could not open his jaw very wide. I brought him to Hillcrest and it was assumed that he had Masticatory Myositis, an autoimmune disease which affects the immune system and attacks the muscles in the jaw. We began treatment before the test results came back. The results came back negative, but the vets at Hillcrest still believed that this was the issue and insisted that I keep him on the medication (which made him very depressed and lethargic) and suggested a muscle biopsy to be sure. I was surprised that they suggested such an invasive procedure before even doing general blood-work on him. I took him to a specialist instead for a CT scan. It was determined that he is not able to open his jaw because of a fractured skull that did not heal properly. When I called Hillcrest to ask about this, I was told that THERE WAS NEVER AN X-RAY DONE ON HIS SKULL AFTER HIS ACCIDENT. I need to emphasize that there was obvious head trauma which I very explicitly expressed concern for, and yet, there was never an x-ray done. I had put a lot of faith into this clinic, but their negligence caused me great expense in terms of completely avoidable worry, grief and money. I do not recommend this clinic for your pets. read more

Two things. We took our 2 and a half year old cat to Hillcrest. In fact, her rash was caused by a reaction to a flea bite. No biggee. But the tech weighed her at 11.6 lbs. She always seemed light to me so after the tech walked out I weighed her myself and she was only 10.2. Again, not a biggee but that's more than 10% difference. So what would have happened the next time we were in? Would they discover a great weight loss and develop some incorrect theory as to what's wrong? Will they notice? So, last Friday (9/16/11) we took our daughter's rabbit in to be spayed. By Tuesday morning it was dead. Simple surgery; dead rabbit. We took it back in Monday and the "saw no infection" but here are some anti-biotics anyway plus a syringe to force water in her mouth. Methinks being a small animal vet is a good way to make money. read more

I have been impressed with their service as a new customer. From a previous vet (who was clearly only interested in making money), I was told that my cat needed serious dental work including teeth pulled and that the cost was estimated to be $700-$1000. I recently moved to the area and brought my cat to Hillcrest. Dr Allen gave me an estimate HALF that price and reassured me that for my cats' age, his teeth looked pretty good. Yesterday he had his dental cleaning, no teeth needed to be pulled, and it ended up only costing me $280 (even less than their estimate). What a relief!!! Furthermore, they checked in with me today to see how he's doing and have been consistently answering all my questions. Happy with their care and service thus far! read more

Excellent. I've been going to Hillcrest for 5 years with my animals (and many more with animals while growing up). I've seen Drs Pollock, Allen, and Owen and they are equally as great, but we enjoy seeing Dr. Allen and her vet tech Laura! They are very caring and they go above and beyond. Very friendly staff and nice clean environment but as far as management goes I'm disgusted. My dog went in to be spade with in a week she was barley able to move took her back and was told she was sore. Another week and she quits eating and starts having seizures took her back and was sent to Pittsburgh where was told she got a infection from the surgery. I understand these things happen but when I called to ask for maybe a discount or free check up visit I was told that management would get back to me. Multiple calls and months later and I have never once had a returned call to give me a simple yes or no answer. Wouldn't take your pets there if they paid you to. read more

Hillcrest has been my vet for more years than I can count. From toenail clipping to end-of-life decisions and everything in between, they have provided nothing but top notch care and compassion.
