This magnet school has black teachers, black administrators, (did I forget to mention black principal)! Now don't get me wrong, the school is all inclusive, welcoming all students but let me be the first to say it's nice to have a safe, positive space for our children to see representation of people who look like them all throughout the school. Staff frequently allow students to fight, and there have been incidents of physical mistreatment that go unaddressed. The coordinator, Ms. Kannike, often yells at the children and comes across as disrespectful and insincere. The principal is rarely available, and when you are able to speak with her, concerns are not properly resolved. It is also concerning that some employees choose not to enroll their own children here and openly speak negatively about the school. Parents should be aware before making the decision to enroll.

The teachers are top notch. They teach the traditional subjects in such a bright and engaging way, our daughter fell in love with subjects she never even felt comfortable with earlier in her life: science, writing, and math. Ms. Proctor has to be the best kept secret on the Westside. She is a dynamic, kind, no-B.S. leader. The administration spends ALL of their time crafting the best educational and social experience for our kids, not fundraising, boosting and assuaging egos, and creating unimpactful events. Everyone is low-key. Real. Our lives are changed by attending Echo. Their kids go on to the most selective secondary schools in Los Angeles. If your kids don't fit in those pods, they won't lead you astray. They'll shepherd you to where your particular kid will thrive and show them love all the way.

She also learned about the solar system, dinosaurs, and the lifecycle of butterflies. Socially she went from being hesitant to speak to other kids, to expressing herself through her coloring, playtime, and daily outfit selection. Communication with the school was great, emails were answered quickly and the teachers were always happy to provide feedback about your child. The school is located in a gated community so we always felt that our daughter was safe. Once our second child is ready, we will without question, send her to Pacifica.
