I can speak for the family when I say we have been blessed and will be eternally grateful to Gabriela and her staff for the 8+ years of outstanding physical and exceptionally loving care of my sweet Grammy. Of course, all of the basic care was provided. Meals, personal care, medication monitoring and health care coordination. But it was the all the little things that added up as well. The birthday celebrations, holiday parties and the personal touch of dedicated consistent care givers that made such a difference for us. This group home provided our family great peace of mind. According to signed contract a refund of monthly care per day not used was to be returned to Widow. Husband used only 6 days of care out of 30 paid, Manager charged another 9 days for His "belongings not picked up," Belongings consisted of one blanket stored in their closet, one shoe box of medication under lock and key in another closet. Correct refund was $400.00 short. The week of Thanksgiving was a short week and with the overwhelming urgency of making funeral & family arrangements picking up a blanket and a box was not high on my chaos list. This was a deliberate, shameful choice on her part to further afflict an already grieving family.

I would visit my dad twice a month, then once a week, and ultimately every day before he passed, and all of my visits were completely without notice, as even I didn't know exactly when I would be there next. With that said, each time I saw my dad, I found him to be very well cared for, dressed in clean clothes, hair combed, shaved, and in good spirits. The staff knew what his habits were, be it how he takes his coffee in the morning or a nightcap in the evening. His room, bedding and personal items were always clean and organized. I credit the staff entirely for his condition. The staff was always very caring and helpful to my dad and to me as well. Everyone knew who my dad was and how he was doing on any particular day or week. They were encouraging of him to play the piano as well as other activities, but they also gave him the space to do nothing if that is what he wanted. Without question, Orchard Pointe was a great place for my dad to have lived his end of life, and I would recommend them to anyone wholeheartedly.

Yvette took me through the whole facility. It was warm, welcoming and so peaceful. Mom would be staying in the memory care. It was so safe, quiet and very intimate. It's set up almost like a Montessori school. They only take around 20 residents in the memory care. I was so grateful they had an opening for her! They have a ratio of about 1 care giver to 5 residents. They had amazing safety systems set up for caring for their residents! We had superb gentle nurses and caregivers like Arrietta and Delores! They looked after mom like she was their own. So protective! There was Pablo who at nights would stay close and talk to mom's room/door so she would feel comfortable and sleep! From the moment she arrived at Orchard Point earlier than expected, Yvette and Patty the Director took such amazing care of her. Even answering their personal cellphones late late at night on our first night there. I was expecting voicemail but they took my call and jumped into action! They quickly helped with any accommodations she/we needed. They helped us as her family find support for her! They and all of the staff in the Memory Care are a family! It felt like home. The residents mom spent time with were so happy. Everyone was active, clean, needs being met! There was not one single resident who wasn't being loved and cared for! Orchard Pointe was such a blessing for us in a painful journey! They took care of us! They took care of us so we could set back and breathe! Orchard Pointe is a Home and a Family! My mom has passed but we will be eternally grateful to have found Yvette, Patty and everyone at Orchard Pointe! They truly love and care for their residents and their families! The owner/manager, Efimia "Effie", was a caregiver for ten years before opening AZ Life, so this is not just a business for her; she genuinely cares for seniors. When first visited we thought wow this is a really nice…read moreplace; clean, bright, new etc. We needed to move our loved one quickly and were fooled by the packaging. I see the other reviews and the food, cleanliness etc. was there. We didn't trust the care after about 2 days. Our opinion is that these care givers have either no training or don't understand dementia at all. Caregivers are rough, loud and forceful; not gentle & understanding of the disease, family treated like outsiders and not listened to. We were not told at initial meeting they did not have over night staff (a must if you have a dementia patient, dementia patients do not sleep through the night and they should have known that). They continued to attempt to force her to sleep/lay down at night-loudly with frustration. (continually complaining that caregiver was tired, irritable and getting no sleep). They have very rigid rules and don't bend. Even convinced our hospice group to prescribe sleep medication, an absolute NO for dementia persons. Our loved one was afraid of all the caregivers. When we moved our loved one out after only a few weeks, she was a mess. Vomiting for days, unable to eat, sleep or even use her walker as she had done prior to moving there. She was much worse than before moving to this facility. Her physical, mental and emotional health has really deuterated after being there. I should have suspected something (guess I choose not to see) when most of our family meetings with owner, including Hospice social worker, we continued to hear owner talk about how much more money should could get. A red flag I didn't recognize.
