Granted, I might have just come across as a little snarky, whereas I really liked my visit to the London Particular. In fact, I stumbled upon this lovely place purely by accident, as I had to change trains at New Cross. When I walked in, I was immediately "turned on" by the smell of the frittata that was still baking in the oven and I decided to stay for lunch. The frittata emerged from the oven about 15 minutes later and it was served alongside two generous portions of salad...the taste of it all was very good - I especially liked that the frittata had a sweet taste to it! Also from a customer-service point of view, they got it right here at the London Particular: friendly staff and free wifi and a clean bathroom...very nice!

We had the brunch bowl, both with bacon and halloumi. Both were scrumptious, with perfectlly soft boiled eggs, crispy potatoes, a generous portion of beans, and thick toast. The halloumi was especially good, grilled and perfectly salty. We also tried the housemade granola, which was served with plum and yogurt. It was very good, though I wish there was more yogurt in the yogurt:granola ratio. The pastries are all on display at the front, and we had a few that were both delicious. It's clear they bake these in house. In fact, everything felt like it was right out of Grandma's kitchen, and in the best possible way. A great way to start the day.

They seat more than they can handle or serve at a time. Maybe understaffing is an issue, which is understandable 100%, but they shouldn't continue seating if they can't handle their seating. There's a reason why you "wait to be seated", so they should be taking full advantage of that. The drinks are okay, the Bloody Mary isn't the best and the mimosa (or Buck's Fizz) is what you'd expect with pulpy orange juice (freshly squeezed). I should also point out I work at a high volume restaurant as well. I was trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Short staffed or maybe busier than they're used to, but it still didn't make sense that a party of only 4 had to wait more than 20 minutes to put an order in -- let alone speak to an employee. I mean seriously. Three separate couples walked in and were seated almost 15 minutes after we had been seated and were served minutes before anyone had bothered to get to us. The only part of this experience that made it somewhat worth it was the young busser -- Liam. He was so kind and tried to get us service as quickly as possible when we finally said something. The other two servers there weee quite rude and clearly not able to handle the capacity of the restaurant. I would not recommend coming here if you want a quick and smooth brunch, as this place just doesn't provide that for you.

First we got a couple of delis and a couple of the local spit and sawdust boozers metaphorically cut their hair and had a wash. Then the little odd independent boutiques started to open... a newer sort of person started queuing outside the exceptional but resolutely local butcher William Rose, an ernest sort of person, a fleece wrapped, rugby shirt, sensible shoe wearing broadsheet reader who "really wanted to stay West, but when we started thinking about the kids it was either move here, or move out of London". And they demanded places to eat, and places to shop, and places to drink, with other similar spirits and their Bugaboo prams filled with flaxen haired organic, free range children. And then in one dreadful year, they opened The White Company, Oliver Bonas and Foxtons. The Richmondification of East Dulwich was almost complete. This isn't a teary eyed pean to a stalwart of the retail community deemed unsuitable for little Jemimahs and Jacobs, closed and turned into a high-class cheese shop, this is just to prepare you for the people who occupy the Blue Mountain Cafe on Northcross Road, ground zero of the yummy mummy. It's twee. By which I mean reclaimed oak furniture and country cottage chic, and mismatching, and quirky, some of those things deliberately. They have set spaces for the prams and pushchairs - woe betide anyone trying to get a table here from 10.30 on a weekday. It defines the term mother's meeting. The food is well sourced and relatively well prepared, certainly freshly prepared. Their Full Monty breakfasts certainly are a thing of beauty, sourced and prepared by someone who really cares about what they're putting out. The sausages and bacon, from the aformentioned William Rose, are solid meaty protein torpedos. There's a decent pile of buttery mushrooms and a frankly enormous heap of beans. Perfectly poached eggs top thick slabs of brown toast. A substantial load, more suited for a trucker's cafe than a genteel suburb.

For a £1 more the mugs are more than twice the size... and trust me, after tasting your impeccably put together cappuccino, you'll be glad that there's more, rather than less, for you to enjoy.

We were shown to the small rear garden where the waitress helpfully set up an extra table so we could sit there. The men in our group were disappointed that there was no full English breakfast option but I was pleased to find some healthy breakfast options. Myself and my friend both had salmon and scrambled eggs whilst the fellas went for a mixture of ham and eggs, croissants and pain au chocolate. All the food was very nice and the waitress was attentive. The menu looked like they had a nice selection of tasty healthy options but I don't think our male companions would want to come back as they missed their sausage and bacon.

Muxima is a friendly, welcoming little cafe, with a mix of cozy, rustic seating and a few shared tables. My plate was a feast for the eyes the second t was placed in front of me, and my eggs perfectly poached, and covered in a rich flavourful hollandaise sauce.
