I believe the "techs" boss called me back and he too told me I would be better off purchasing a new generator because the Kohler parts would exceed 3K. So, I decided to fix it myself. With about an hour of troubleshooting and less than $150 in parts, I have a running Kohler standby house house generator again. Mike was just a phone call away (he's even faster via text!) and scheduled a visit to provide an estimate. He's knowledgeable and friendly, the best combination for a professional that you let into your home. He knows his stuff and his price was very reasonable. Two weeks later - because the process requires additional steps, such as getting a permit - Mike was back with his truck and mobile installation trailer. He explained every step that he needed to take, indicated where the propane and power companies were involved and was really fun to work with. Our cats kept him under supervision while he worked in the backyard, which he took in stride (bonus points for being a cat guy!).
