Moist, flavorful, pork tamale with some rice & beans. Bueno!!
Antonio D. M.

I've been passing by Hilda's for YEARS! My first visit was well overdue. There's not much parking available on the street but once inside, Hilda's is much bigger than you'd think. I ordered the Chiliquiles con asada topped with juevos over medium. It had super tasty carne and tasted as authentic as you can get! My taste buds had a fiesta! Comes with a side of warm bread, a bowl of delicious chili verde salsita, and crema. Everything was tasty and seasoned to perfection! I had a bite of the pork tamale and it was superb! It was moist and flavorful. Mexican music was being played throughout our breakfast, and the waitress was super friendly and patient with my lack of Spanish skills. For the five of us, the bill was around $75. Very reasonable. No question, I'll be back. My taste buds demand it!!!

It was my first time coming here because I was recommended by a friend. I went up to the front to order (a tamal & a quesabirria) The old lady at the counter then charged me. The tamal was $3 on the menu and the quessabirria was $5. She proceeded to charge me $10. I brought it to her attention that it should have been $8 and I showed her the menu. She then tried to make an excuse and say that she charged an extra dollar for eating here. That's so dumb. I've never been to a place that charges you to eat at their restaurant. Like what ? My friend ordered 4 tamales with rice and beans. Her total was $24. Once again the tamales are priced at $3. 4x3=12 and the menu did not specify rice and beans being $12. We ordered our food at 10:50am, it is now 11:45am and we have not gotten our food which is inane because we were the only ones here. Two parties showed up after us and got their food before us. I had to go back to the counter to ask if our food was almost out. The lady got very defensive and started being really rude. I brought it to her attention that we were the only ones here and it had been an hour, as well as the fact that the other tables were served before us. She almost started yelling at me which was insane. She told me to deal with it. She said she had been to restaurants that and what wait 4 hours. I wonder where she dines LOL. Very bad customer service, wait, and cold food. Don't come here unless you want to be overcharged and given attitude for doing absolutely nothing. Will NEVER be coming here again. I wish I would have read reviews before, this place serves roaches in their tamales, glad I didn't get mine.

When you come inside you have to go to the counter and place your order. The owner is always here very friendly and pleasant. Music is always playing in the background. The food is so delicious! The chilaquiles are the best in town. I asked if the Chile Relleno had seeds inside. She said "No" but, they always say that at every restaurant I order from. First time ordering the Chile Relleno here and very delicious and NO SEEDS inside which is a huge for me. I don't like when you cut into a Chile Relleno and seeds are inside. That means that the Chiles weren't cleaned out. Highly Recommend !!!!

Chilaquiles

Great food all around, one of the most authentic Mexican food you could have in Stockton. Its own by a very sweet Young Lady, & recommend to try little bit of everything. Very satisfying!

Food is great here. Home made tortillas and the best spot for menudo. Service is a little slow but food is worth it.

Our table was right next to a metal utility rack they were using to store menus and cleaning products. That's fine, but my head was close to a spray bottle and a bottle of Lysol, which wasn't ideal. They were very busy, so we had high hopes for great food. Unfortunately, many of the items were bland. The beans and rice were especially underwhelming, with very little flavor--you can tell from the picture that the rice is basically plain white rice. My flautas were crunchy with fresh toppings, but the meat lacked flavor. My meal came with a bowl of fideo, but it wasn't delivered before my meal like it was for other tables. In fact, I had to ask for it after our food arrived, which makes me think I wouldn't have received it otherwise. After we finished eating, it took about 15 minutes to get our check. The servers were clearly very busy, but it would have been nice to leave sooner. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back. The noise level was overwhelming, and the food was just okay. If I did return, I wouldn't order anything that comes with beans and rice.

She was very nice and helpful. We shared a piña con coco cocktail, which I really enjoyed. It had a spicy rim and was sweet, but not too sweet. We ordered the guacamole, which was made tableside. I ordered the enchiladas al comal, which looked really good. Unfortunately, I didn't love the chipotle sauce on the enchiladas and wished I had ordered a more traditional red or green sauce. But it was still good, and I can see why it's popular. I did enjoy the steak and vegetables inside the enchiladas. I was leaning toward a 4-star rating since I didn't love my enchiladas and wouldn't order them again. But Isabella's service was so excellent that it alone pushed my review to a 5.

The prickly pear margarita tasted more like a pink Jolly Rancher than anything else, which just wasn't for me. My fajitas were alright, but they came without any sour cream or guac and the pico was mainly onion. When I asked the waiter, he told me they don't come with it, even though the menu said otherwise. Without those, the fajitas ended up being really dry. I ended up just paying and getting ready to leave, but when I grabbed a menu again and asked about it, they apologized and offered me chips and salsa to go, which I appreciated. The staff was very nice throughout, but the whole experience felt a bit disorganized. Overall, it just didn't feel like a good value for the money, and I left pretty underwhelmed.

The restaurant is small and not in the greatest location, but the food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. I can't wait to go back! The tortilla chips are a mix of corn and flour, which was a nice surprise. Literally everything we ordered was so good! I went with the build-your-own combo plate and chose a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and beef flautas. My entire plate was delicious, including the rice and beans. The homemade tortillas were so fresh and tasty. Everyone in our party of four enjoyed their food. We split the three-piece quesabirria tacos, and they were excellent. I chose the gravy cheese enchilada for my combo plate, but I also tried my partner's green chili chicken enchilada--both were great. You can choose between red, green, or gravy sauce for the enchiladas, and I definitely want to try the red next time. Don't be turned off by the unassuming storefront and corner location. This place is serving up some seriously delicious food, and it's absolutely worth the visit!

I chose La Mesa because the first time we went I was very impressed with the delicious drinks and the short rib enchiladas. The atmosphere is so special and intimate whether you're on a date or with family. Both times we went, our servers were friendly and checked on us appropriately. Our server yesterday was handling making drinks at the bar and serving other tables that were there for Valentine's Day, but she still provided us with really good customer service (not sure of her name but she was wearing a pink shirt). We ordered a few drinks that included a strawberry horchata with rum, and a special one for Valentine's Day called the cupids kiss. They really stood out to me with how cute and yummy they were. For an appetizer, we ordered birria French fries. I was surprised that it had the consommé because I assumed it would make the fries soggy.... But it did not! They were AMAZING. The birria was tender and delicious, the flavor had a lot of depth in the consommé. For our entrees, we both cannot get enough of the short rib enchiladas with the mole sauce. They are our favorite. I really am just grateful that there is a restaurant like this that cares about the food they share with their customers. In the past, we ate at restaurants for my birthday where they didn't take as much pride or care about what they served. My birthday dinner at La Mesa felt very special to me and my boyfriend. Thanks a bunch we look forward to our return visit!

As for the crispy tacos, there's a big difference between tacos that are freshly and properly fried and those that are overcooked in rancid oil. Unfortunately, what I received fell into the latter category, which is simply unacceptable. The service was also lackluster and apathetic. ----------- Jeff Berretta, no one is questioning the quality of the products served at your restaurants--La Mesa, Market Tavern, or Prime Table. The real issue is that your kitchen is ruining these high-quality ingredients. Perhaps you should try sampling them yourself to ensure better quality control. Additionally, before criticizing your customers online, I suggest you act with more professionalism. I regularly dine at your locations in Stockton and Dublin. While I do find your food overpriced and the service rather pretentious, that's not my main concern here. The real problem is your attitude. Next time I visit Market Tavern, I intend to address this with you in person and see if you live up to the online persona you project. Wishing you all the best in your role until then.
