    Carne Asada Tacos

We have been coming here for years since my son is a student at UoP. We eat here every time we visit. Family owned with friendly wait staff. Family friendly environment. They have a large menu and I usually try a new dish every time. All of the dishes are freshly made and have authentic tastes and flavors. Hearty fresh tortillas served hot. You can't go wrong with anything you order. They now have added breakfast dishes that are served all day. Can't wait to come back for more tasty dishes.

Inside El Chilango Chido is tightly packed seating, a narrow walkway to get to the cashier, and a semi open kitchen concept. Multiple TVs are active along the walls playing various television channels. Outside is a small patio for outdoor seating. Upon entering it was unclear whether we seated ourselves or should wait to be seated (wait to be seated). Employees hustled about in the confined space to deliver food and tend to tables. Think casual Mexican diner -- that even serves American breakfast! But we were here for lunch. We ordered a Birria taco, carnitas taco, and shredded beef Flautas. The Birria taco was cheesy and generously filled with dense meat, but lacked a lot of flavor. On the other hand the consume was very flavorful and helped make up for the slightly disappointing Birria taco. The Flautas were good crispy Flautas with a strong crunch, but the rice and beans that came with it were bland. The best item we ate was the carnitas taco. The street tacos are small (4 inch diameter) but there was a good amount of meat and additions to it. The carnitas taco was tasty and left me wishing I had ordered another. The service here was okay. It's a busy place. The employees are working hard but after our plates were cleared it took the staff about 15 minutes to bring by our check. This is the kind of place where you don't come for the atmosphere or service, you come for the food. But the food left a bit to be desired in the flavor department. While I would come back to give the restaurant another shot, I think I would stick to the street tacos.

Was in town and was craving Mexican cuisine and wanted a sit down experience. Came across this spot when driving around. This spot definitely did not disappoint. The ambiance inside was really chill and homey. Felt authentic. They were playing Spanish music and many families were dining together. The service was okay. Definitely could be better but the star of the show is the food. The food was amazing. I ordered a plate full of stuff, tender meat, rice, beans, cropped up vegetables. I left the plate empty and clean. That's how good it was. Everything was seasoned good and the meat was super tender. I didn't have to chew. Overall I give this restaurant a solid 4/5 star review. Will definitely be back to try other menu items.

Service was amazing and is the reason I am giving this place four stars. My coworker got enchiladas potosinas. The potato inside was good but the rice and beans were cold. She was also hoping for dishes with more vegetables and less cheesy. My other coworker enjoyed the menudo flavors but is not used to tripe. The tortillas in my shrimp tacos were hard. I would also suggest a hotter hot sauce, the ones provided were pretty mild. We still enjoyed our time. There was plenty of seating inside and outside.

The interior is very nice and the location is right next to one of my favorite ice cream places. The food is so-so with the price taken into consideration, I like my foods on the more seasoned side and this just didn't meet my expectations, it's not bad just not for me. The and atmosphere service is great making it a nice lunch or after work meal for two.

Went here on a date with my fiance and it was delicious. The staff was very welcoming and the restaurant environment is cozy and pretty. The fideo was so warm and comforting. The calabacitas were delicious as well. They have awesome salsa that they serve with chips!

My husband and I tried this place for the first time on New Year's Day (1/1/26). We have lived in Stockton our whole lives and passed by El Chilango Chido all the time, so glad we stopped by for breakfast! My husband ordered the Chilaquiles Rojos (red sauce), he loved them so much! The red sauce definitely had a kick to it, we both love spicy food. Chef's kiss on the sauce! I had the chile relleno, I was really impressed. Stuffed with the right amount of cheese, nicely fried in the egg batter, and the sauce soaked up nicely! Also, the portions are huge, so bring your appetite! Our waiter was awesome too, I didn't catch his name :( When I asked for extra salsa on the side, he hooked it up. He gave us a chili oil and 2 other salsas to try! He definitely understood the assignment, I love a variety of salsas to try with my meal :) We can't wait to go back!!!

Food = 3.5 , my wife loves birria broth by it self , she requested that , with side of rice and beans, she got the whole plate with meat and all. I'm assuming they completely forgot. I got the rib stew in red sauce since was recommended, not enough flavor of spice. The main problem was that it was lukewarm and I couldn't get our server to check on us so I could say something. Service= 3.0 Very young people serving so unfortunately there's no much effort. When I asked if they had a restroom they said yes but it was next door, I wasn't directed or offer a key , no follow up so I decided to wait to go home instead. Ambiance= 4, despite being kind of slow we couldn't get the attention we needed ( we don't usually need much anyways) I didn't get to try some of the tacos or other stuff which is sad because they looked yummy on the pics, but i dont know maybe in the future we will give it a try .

The food was good. The restaurant was nice and clean. The customer service was amazing. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes! And I completely forgot to ask for flour tortillas since I keep reading on the reviews that they're homemade!!

My son and I love this place! First off the staff here are very welcoming and sweet. They are very prompt with taking our orders, bringing us food, and often refilling my water that I go through like a fish. lol The food is so good! I always get their Chile Colorado and I love that you also get Fideo with their lunch orders. The flour tortillas remind me of the ones that were made at Suzy's Mexican restaurant and we really miss that place. The restaurant itself is small, but you don't feel crowded when dining inside. Whoever designed the interior did a fantastic job, it's trendy and cute! I've been meaning to review this place because it's definitely one of our favorites in town!

    Chilaquiles

I love this place so much. Food is pretty well priced and portions are good. The asada tacos are 3.50 per taco but the amount of meat they put definitely makes them worth it. Also they will give you a container with salsa that you can keep with you while eating and add however much salsa you want (which I love because I love a lot of salsa) they also added xtra cilantro and onion just like I asked on my tacos which we always love to see. The service is also great the waiters have never been anything but nice and I've been to this place a lot of times. The inside is nice always clean and cute definitely recommend this place :,)

Huge portions of delicious food with excellent service! I realize how spoiled I am that I looked at the tortillas and thought 'not handmade?' LOL. See? Spoiled. The food was terrific! But ask for flour tortillas if you want handmade. :)

She was very nice and helpful. We shared a piña con coco cocktail, which I really enjoyed. It had a spicy rim and was sweet, but not too sweet. We ordered the guacamole, which was made tableside. I ordered the enchiladas al comal, which looked really good. Unfortunately, I didn't love the chipotle sauce on the enchiladas and wished I had ordered a more traditional red or green sauce. But it was still good, and I can see why it's popular. I did enjoy the steak and vegetables inside the enchiladas. I was leaning toward a 4-star rating since I didn't love my enchiladas and wouldn't order them again. But Isabella's service was so excellent that it alone pushed my review to a 5.

The prickly pear margarita tasted more like a pink Jolly Rancher than anything else, which just wasn't for me. My fajitas were alright, but they came without any sour cream or guac and the pico was mainly onion. When I asked the waiter, he told me they don't come with it, even though the menu said otherwise. Without those, the fajitas ended up being really dry. I ended up just paying and getting ready to leave, but when I grabbed a menu again and asked about it, they apologized and offered me chips and salsa to go, which I appreciated. The staff was very nice throughout, but the whole experience felt a bit disorganized. Overall, it just didn't feel like a good value for the money, and I left pretty underwhelmed.

We came here on a whim last weekend, and OMG, I'm so glad we did. The restaurant is small and not in the greatest location, but the food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. I went with the build-your-own combo plate and chose a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and beef flautas. My entire plate was delicious, including the rice and beans. The homemade tortillas were so fresh and tasty. Everyone in our party of four enjoyed their food. We split the three-piece quesabirria tacos, and they were excellent. I chose the gravy cheese enchilada for my combo plate, but I also tried my partner's green chili chicken enchilada--both were great. You can choose between red, green, or gravy sauce for the enchiladas, and I definitely want to try the red next time. Don't be turned off by the unassuming storefront and corner location. I chose La Mesa because the first time we went I was very impressed with the delicious drinks and the short rib enchiladas. The atmosphere is so special and intimate whether you're on a date or with family. Both times we went, our servers were friendly and checked on us appropriately. Our server yesterday was handling making drinks at the bar and serving other tables that were there for Valentine's Day, but she still provided us with really good customer service (not sure of her name but she was wearing a pink shirt). We ordered a few drinks that included a strawberry horchata with rum, and a special one for Valentine's Day called the cupids kiss. They really stood out to me with how cute and yummy they were. For an appetizer, we ordered birria French fries. I was surprised that it had the consommé because I assumed it would make the fries soggy.... But it did not! They were AMAZING. The birria was tender and delicious, the flavor had a lot of depth in the consommé. For our entrees, we both cannot get enough of the short rib enchiladas with the mole sauce. They are our favorite. I really am just grateful that there is a restaurant like this that cares about the food they share with their customers. In the past, we ate at restaurants for my birthday where they didn't take as much pride or care about what they served. My birthday dinner at La Mesa felt very special to me and my boyfriend. As for the crispy tacos, there's a big difference between tacos that are freshly and properly fried and those that are overcooked in rancid oil. Unfortunately, what I received fell into the latter category, which is simply unacceptable. The service was also lackluster and apathetic. ----------- Jeff Berretta, no one is questioning the quality of the products served at your restaurants--La Mesa, Market Tavern, or Prime Table. The real issue is that your kitchen is ruining these high-quality ingredients. Perhaps you should try sampling them yourself to ensure better quality control. Additionally, before criticizing your customers online, I suggest you act with more professionalism. I regularly dine at your locations in Stockton and Dublin. While I do find your food overpriced and the service rather pretentious, that's not my main concern here. The real problem is your attitude. Next time I visit Market Tavern, I intend to address this with you in person and see if you live up to the online persona you project. Wishing you all the best in your role until then.
