But I've found my dental wingman. His office fit me in before the end of the year so that I could take advantage of unused dental benefits. Dr. Ellis fixed two problematic crowns and took the time to create one of the crowns twice until he got a perfect fit. He was very concerned about the quality and fit of everything he did, and he was also very gentle. I didn't feel a thing when he administered the shots! His front and back office staff were all professional and friendly. His facility is modern, clean, and equipped with all the latest state-of-the-art equipment. He makes all of his own crowns so there's no return visit required. If you're new in town or looking for a new dentist, seriously...look no further.

He has had a sore tooth for over a month , but we had to wait for our insurance to pre-authorize the crown. We get a call today that they never got a pre-authorization. I called our insurance and they never received a prior authorization request. The dentist office said it was a technical glitch. Now, they want us to wait another 30 days or come in and have it fixed and hope the insurance covers it. During my conversation first with Jessica, the comment was made that this is a "courtesy that they do for us", but it is our responsibility to contact our insurance company for payment. I have never heard of this before for dental insurance. I asked Dr. Elkington to call when he had a moment. I just got his call and he came on very defensive from the go. I was trying to say, that my husband should not have to wait another 30 days for a crown and he said then come in. If insurance denies it, you will have to pay. I can't see why they would deny it, when his tooth is cracked. Patient care should not be about the bill and more about the pain in the tooth. I was shocked at how he was acting. I mentioned that I never was rude, when I drove down from an hour away and my appointment was cancelled, (due to an emergency in his office). His comment "well next time my worker has a stroke...I will make sure to call you first." Very unnecessary and so unprofessional.

Most recent issue, a tooth crown he did only about a year ago literally fell off into my mouth after a simple gentle brush cleaning, I was shocked and now he refuses to be accountable for it and accusing me for asking him for more and more money over a previous refund check he wrote due to his office staff lady situation of attempting to over bill me since the to be crown over implant was mostly prepaid prior end of year. I am left with an expensive dilemma since the crown that fell off cannot be recemented over what is left of that tooth which was in fact a healthy tooth to begin with. Since June 25, 2024 my text messages are being ignored after I waited for him to come back from vacation. Or the staff is not getting the messages to him for obvious reasons. I reminded him of how the staff member out right lied to United Health Care agent that the tooth work was completed on the crown over implant, as she did not know I was on the phone listening. When I interjected the conversation, she went silent and then stumbled with excuse of how they had to order special expensive parts. Agent made it clear that no payment from insurance company is valid unless the work was finished. A check was sent them but had to be returned of course once I reported the situation. At that point Dr. Gunn did not want me as a patient and I agreed at that point since too much hassle was stressing me out. He said he was protecting his girls? I said from what? Incompetence he refused to acknowledge? So now I need to pursue this new situation and am very distraught to even have to go through this. I did not think I would ever need to make contact with him nor that office again. Sorry to say but I have all the proof I need to further this to legal processing. Dentists to my knowledge have insurance coverage for this type matter; I expect he should use that resource for my reimbursement.
