I've recently had to stay in a hotel close to Edinburgh Airport. Fortunately all of the chain hotels near the airport were fully booked, so I had to choose this Best Western hotel in about 35 GBP taxi distance from the airport, luckily facing the direction I had to travel the next morning.
The hotel has a 24 hour reception, can be found quite easily and also has a restaurant / bar that unforunately is only open till 22:00 in the evening.
However they offer reduced room service (sandwiches if I remember correctly) the whole night through.
When I came to my room, I was pleasantly surprised. The bed was comfy, the WiFi was free, there was a (small) flat screen mounted at the wall, a cookie and a bottle of water waited for me.
The lack of air conditioning was covered by the fact that I could open the window (in my case street facing) the whole night long without any further noise, the bath was modern and seemed to be renovated only recently.
The normal problem you have with very loud hotels where you can hear everything from the surrounding rooms was also not given, staff was friendly, room was clean.
Not my dream hotel but definatelly amongst the nicer places I've stayed in in the UK so far. read more
