I used to be very very fond of this hotel, having stayed there about ten times or so. It's got a great location - slap-bang on the Royal Mile, it's a beautiful building, the rooms are (mostly) very nice but this credit crunch is a terrible thing and obviously cost-cutting has forced the hotel to make enormous savings on the staff front. As a result, everything involving people, (i. e everything)has now become absolute torture. Staff who can't speak the language, staff who obviosly don't won't to be there, who hold a grudge, or whateversimply everybody seems to want to do their utmost to spoil your stay, make life difficult, display a generally hostile attitude, and ooze a feel-bad factor. I won't be staying there again, holidays are too precious to have them spoilt by people who're obviously unhappy with their situation. read more
