I called to schedule a brake repair and asked for a round estimate. The person on the phone said it'll be $140 plus tax. That price seemed low but I needed a reliable service shop, so I proceeded to schedule the repair. After their initial inspection, they said it would be $550, which was much higher. Yet, after checking around, that price was in line with other shops. I can say that they did a good job as my brakes work great in Charlotte traffic...lol. read more

Hilbish Ford advertises "Transparent Pricing" and "Straight Talk," but that was not my experience. I traveled several hours based on their online listing, which showed a discounted price with rebates and 0% financing calculated from that same price. There was no clear disclosure that you have to give up all incentives to get the 0%. Once I arrived, that's exactly what I was told. I also asked ahead of time why the truck had over 1,000 miles and was told it was being looked into. I never got an answer until I showed up and was told it was a loaner vehicle. That should have been disclosed upfront. They also added extras (VIP package, tire coverage, etc.) even after I said I didn't want them. Jose, the salesperson, was respectful and professional--no issues with him. The problem is the dealership's misleading advertising and lack of transparency. After reading other reviews, this seems to be a pattern. If you value your time, be careful--what's advertised online does not match what you'll get in person. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with this dealership and the tactics used to get me in the door. I traveled several hours based on what Marissa told me over the phone--that the online offer and financing options were realistic and that coming in would help secure a better deal. That turned out to be completely untrue. Their online advertising is false just to get you in the door...see the pictures. Once I arrived, the story changed entirely. The deal I was led to believe was possible suddenly wasn't. That's not a misunderstanding--that's misleading a customer just to get them into the dealership and waste their time. To be fair, Jose, the salesperson I worked with in person, was professional and respectful. I have no issues with him. Dealing with Jose was the only positive part of the experience. However, the overall experience was frustrating and felt dishonest. I was upfront about what I wanted from the beginning, and I expect the same level of honesty in return. Instead, I got sales gimmicks. Also, be very careful reviewing your numbers--there were add-ons (VIP package, tire coverage, etc.) already included even after I clearly stated I did not want any extras. For 11 years we brought our vehicles which we purchased new for 100% of service. Last week we brought of 2019 Edge in to have it looked at. May 26 update regarding our 2019 Ford Edge Titanium experience with Hilbish Ford and Ford Customer Care. After opening Ford Customer Care case #CXH-08017492-P1H0G4, we were advised the dealership and Ford were supposedly communicating regarding the diagnosis and repair recommendation. However, no meaningful follow-up was provided. When contacting Ford Customer Care again, we were quoted over $3,500 in repairs, yet no documentation or explanation was provided showing: * whether TSB 21-2389 or TSB 19-2331 were reviewed, * whether PCM/TCM software updates were checked, * whether adaptive relearn procedures were performed, * or whether less invasive correction steps were attempted before recommending major mechanical repairs. The dealership directed us to Ford Customer Care, while Ford Customer Care directed us back to the dealership. As a customer, this back-and-forth without technical transparency is extremely frustrating. At approximately 59,000 miles, we expected a clearer diagnostic explanation and evidence supporting such significant repair costs before being advised to authorize major transmission-related repairs. The A/C service was performed, but not w/o an attempt to up sell a needless service. The cabin filter, I hope, was replaced...but the Technician broke the "slow opening" actuator for the glove box...parts were left on the passenger floor! With regards to tire rotation, repair order stated it was accomplished, paid to have it accomplished...but the work was NEVER accomplished. I question whether what was requested was done! I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS DEALERSHIP FOR PURCHASING A FORD, or for HAVING SERVICE PERFORMED on any vehicle, there is a dishonesty issue. Went to buy and look at a 2025 Ford F-150 STX for about $44k including the 0% APR financing. Until I got there, I had not know the truck was a service loaner. Never buy someone else's used stiff - it had 1800 miles on it when their advertising was 5 miles online. Additionally make sure you ask for all in price/out the door and costs breakdown. They included $900 in their VIP package which is literally covered by not losing your keys. I said I didn't want their VIP package and they kept it on there no matter what. That's when I knew to walk away. The salesman I worked with was great and helpful. I feel more confident/comfortable buying trucks in knowing what I want. Took my car for a safety recall. That went well but I was shocked at the trash lying around outside the work bays and the trash inside where I could see in the work bays. There were grocery carts (???) piled with old car parts, boxes thrown outside that car parts had come in, trash between cars on the lot, used cars and new cars all mixed together, e Where I used to take my car, Pittsville Ford in Pittsville Maryland was impeccable. They took pride in their establishment. It was always clean, shiny and well cared for. It made me realize how hard they worked after seeing Hilbish. I won't be back. Was hit from behind so Geico sent me to Ford Collision Center for the repairs. They did most of the repairs but was not able to order a part to complete. So they refunded me part of the claim so I could locate the part myself. Its an older truck so understandable. They were suppose to mail out the check by end Sept. Middle Oct still no check. So I contacted them many times and finally got someone to answer the phone. They claimed someone in accounting forgot to send out the check and was currently in Raleigh. But would send out the check from Raleigh. The next week still no check. Called and again no answers. Finally spoke to the manager of the dept and he claimed Crystal would look into it and get back with me by end of day. No response. Next day no check. Called a bunch and still no answers. Finally asked to speak to someone in Accts payable. After a little digging the check was literally on their desk. They claimed they just received the paperwork that day. So long short I was lied to. I spoke with an assistant sales mgr (0837, 10/12/2024), over the phone about a used 2021 Dodge Ram they had on the lot, They sent me an itemized invoice with an"out-the-door price" that I thought was acceptable. I only asked them to remove the surface care package from the invoice because I didn't need it nor did I ask for it. His reply was he could not remove the cost of the surface care package because it automatically comes with every car purchase. Regardless if you want it or not. Which leaves you no opportunity to decline it. After he said that, to be clear, I asked him again and he said yes I had to pay for it if I wanted to close the deal. I told him thank you and I decided to take my business elsewhere. FYI the truck was 47K and I was a definite sale. The point is they chose greed over customer satisfaction and let me walk away for a few dollars. I'm a 20-year US Army Veteran and I support American businesses, but sometimes American companies don't always support us. BEWARE! THEY SELL LEMONS! Purchased a used vehicle from Hilbish Ford in October in "As-Is" condition, only to discover the transmission is dead. Had our personal mechanic inspect it and he confirmed there is NO WAY Hilbish did not know about this problem. This was NOT disclosed in any way when we purchased the car. "As-Is" condition agreements are only valid if ALL information is disclosed at time of sale. We dropped the car to them and they confirmed the transmission is dead and will cost $8000 to replace. They are unwilling to work with us and have told us this is a total loss on our part. Have filed a claim with the BBB and have contacted a lawyer. BEWARE! THEY SELL LEMONS! read more

My visit to Hilbish started in January 2023. I carried my 2008 Ford F350 6.4 diesel there for 3 different issues. 1- Squealing from the serpentine belt/ pulleys, 2- Engine coolant code (needed a coolant thermostat). 3- The battery light occasionally popping on. The first time they kept the truck two weeks. They changed several pulleys (a couple more than once) along with the serpentine belt. There were two to three visits for this issue. Problem still existed. I carried the vehicle to another mechanic who showed me a memo from Ford Motor company about my year model truck stating what pulley and belt to put on the truck to solve the problem. Ford Motor company knew this problem existed. He installed it and solved the problem. Hilbish should have known about this. (Have a copy of the memo) Had to carry the truck back at least three different times due to a coolant leak that did not exist until they replaced the coolant thermostat. I had to buy at least 5 gals. of coolant to try to keep the coolant at the proper level with very little driving. Another $100 dollars. I was told at Hilbish that the squealing & battery light popping on could also be coming from the a/c compressor which they replaced ($1800) or the bottom alternator (which had been replaced a month earlier). I let them replace the bottom alternator as well. ($450) Part only no labor. Ever since Hilbish replaced the compressor, I have had a freon leak... On one of the visits the truck was making a roaring sound when accelerating that did not exist before. Hilbish had a tech ride with me, and he discovered at least one bolt was left off the a/c compressor when the new one was installed. After the third visit for the a/c problem, I was told yesterday that the leak was coming from the evaporator coil that is under the dash. Keep in mind there was not an issue with the a/c cooling before or losing any freon. I had the truck since 2016. The quote to replace the evaporator was $2500 +. I have spent $3000+ with them on the vehicle since January (not counting what I paid another tech to solve the squealing problem & the extra coolant I had to purchase). The price to solve the squealing problem with another company was $450 dollars. I also had to ask Hilbish to replace bolts in both headlight assemblies that were missing after the initial first visit. I spoke with the service mgr. today (9-28-23) who said the existing problem did not have anything to do with the work they did when they installed the a/c compressor. He stated that support bolt or bolts that were not installed during the replacement of the compressor would not have caused the leak on the evaporator although it caused a loud roaring noise when accelerating from the compressor shifting around... This is now almost October and I believe the total visits for poor & sloppy work quality I received since January is probably close to 10 visits. I still have the a/c issue... read more

Typical Ford dealer... I go regularly to have my car serviced. I have only dealt with 2 Ford dealerships, but one thing about this one that offers from the other that I frequented is the service dept reps are really helpful. They will not encourage you to have services done that your vehicle doesn't quite need yet and they seem to always at least try to find ways to get you some type of coupon discount/rebate to help offset costs. For my most recent service I had to have a loaner vehicle and the trade-off was quick and easy, no hassle whatsoever. The lobby area was recently remodeled and I really don't mind waiting for my car there sometimes because they do have a couple of private rooms with desks available, if you need to get office-work done while you wait. My only tip is make sure you have your wheel locks before you drive off! They have on multiple occasion forgot to return mine, luckily I remembered so there was no issue. read more

This is directly toward the service dept. Brought a car in with a headlamp that would light even after replacing the bulb. Thinking to myself it probably a faulty wiring harness. Dropped it off for an assessment and cost. Estimate for repair came back at $450!! Said I needed an entire new headlamp assembly. After kicking myself AGAIN for even taking it to a dealership and paying them a little less than $100 for the diagnostic. I took to another mechanic. NO Headlamp assembly needed, guess what? My 2020 Explorer was recently dropped off at Hilbish Ford for a minor repair of the rear bumper. I was contacted by Adrienne a few days later to say the vehicle would be ready for pickup that afternoon at 4:30. I arrived at 4:30 and the vehicle was still being reassembled. I picked up the keys but did not do an in depth inspection of the repair due to rain. Stopped at the gas station next door and looked it over while filling up. I noticed the rear bumper step pad was not laying flat. Upon further inspection, I found that they had tried to glue the trim down after breaking off several mounting tabs and folding over some of the remaining ones, rather than properly aligning them with the mounting holes. I immediately returned to the dealership to request a replacement step pad. I also questioned why the vehicle was returned in such a filthy condition. Due to the collection of dust all over the inside of the car, it was quite obvious that people had been in every seat of the vehicle. Footprints, smudges, handprints, etc. all over the dash, seats, headliner, door panels, and carpet in the front and back seats. This seems unusual for a simple bumper repair. I mentioned these issues to Adrienne and explained that I was concerned about what else I would find if I was already coming up with these obvious problems. Adrienne assured me there were no other issues as she had supervised portions of the repair herself. She then offered to have the vehicle sent over to be cleaned up but couldn't guarantee that they would do a good job due to being so late in the day. I declined and took the vehicle home to clean once it stopped raining. Adrienne emailed later that evening to apologize for the issues we were experiencing and offered to compensate us. I declined, telling her we did not expect anything and just wanted the vehicle repaired correctly. That weekend, when washing the vehicle and cleaning the inside, I noticed that the rear mud flaps I had installed on the vehicle were missing. I crawled underneath the vehicle to further inspect the repair. I found the heat insulators to protect the rear electrical wiring from exhaust heat were left out of place and several bolts attaching the bumper cover to the support bracket and the underbody cover to the bumper cover were missing. I returned to the dealership on Monday to ask about the missing pieces and pick up the new step pad. Adrienne searched the shop for the mud flaps and bolts. I again expressed concerns about the missing parts and the quality of the repairs. Adrienne assured me that there had been no parts left over from the repair, while she was holding the mud flaps that they had failed to reinstall. I pointed out the missing bolts on another Explorer in the shop but they were unable to provide me any replacements, stating they don't know what bolts to supply since I didn't have my Explorer with me. Adrienne again apologized for the issues and offered to compensate us with detailing, oil changes, or accessories. I again declined. I left with the mud flaps and new step pad. I returned home and reinstalled the mud flaps. When attempting to replace the step pad, I found that the adhesive they used to try to glue the old one down had hardened and would not allow the new pad to lay flat. I had to grind it off before being able to install the pad correctly. I have had vehicles repaired at this body shop in the past but, with the absolute lack of attention to detail on this repair, the fact that they tried to cover up their mistake rather than fix it, and obviously zero concern for the condition the vehicle was returned to me in, I don't believe I'll be able to recommend them again. read more

He is in Contact with Sale person Bottom line is the fix is going to be Expensive and this happened less than 12 hours after paper were signed and he cant afford to pay for the repairs as well and just giving the money for the truck. I am from California and was working the Hurricane in the Charlotte area. My 2000 Ford F350 was having several problems so I took it to Hilbish Ford and asked them to fix my wandering steering problem, to fix my pulsating brake problem, and to see why my front end was making a loud clunking sound when turning right and left. After they had the truck for about 6 days I picked it up and was charged $750. Only thing they did was an oil change and replaced a couple stabilizers on the front. Not one single problem I took it in for was fixed. The clunking in the front end, I found out later, was bad u-joints on the front 4WD axle. They tried to tell me it was over-sized tires and they were rubbing. Yeah the tires were slightly rubbing on the plastic fender well, but clunking does not occur when tires rub on plastic. Very disappointed with overall service and willingness to try and repair my truck, especially since they had my approval to fix the problems. I recommend staying away from this place. If there were less than a 1-star rating, the sales department would get it. We stopped by last evening to look around, were helped by a young man named Chris Powe. He showed us a Ford Focus with a good condition, many options, and a drop-dead low price ...about 2k under Kelly Blue Book. It had just been taken in trade, had the legally required"not for sale " tag because it hadn't yet been inspected, but we were assured that was a formality. Mr. Powe said he'd call us as soon as it got out of the Service Dept. the following day, to see if we were still interested. I got the call at 11:35, was assured that the car had only been out of Service about ten minutes. We expressed our interest, filled out a credit app on line, were approved with excellent credit for far more than the car was priced. We were told Chris would take the paperwork to his sales manager, and pending down payment and test drive, we had the car. Imagine our surprise at being informed that the car had been sold at 9::0am, evidently before the mandatory inspection had even started! Chris had mentioned to me that his sales manager apparently had a personal interest in the car for his own granddaughter, so (I can't prove it) that might be why a car I had approved credit for was suddenly "sold." I was also unaware that Hillbish won't hold a car without a down payment, since I was neverjnformed that was company policy and have bought any number of cars without a down payment. I, was of course, apologized to and offered a "nicer car" for the same price, but was surprised that the sales manager of a Ford dealer would think a Chevy Malibu was a nicer car than a Ford Focus. I left with several impressions of the conversation and events of the day: that no, they don't "hold cars" unless you're related to the sales manager; that the salesman who offered to help us in Chris' place couldn't wait to sell us something, especially after he saw our approved credit application (he even stood in front of the door as we tried to leave) and that I will never again have anything to do with the dishonest people at this dealership. read more

Do not go to hilbish ford for service. My wife went in to get my oil changed and tires rotated. They called her said the truck was finished and after leaving the dealership she got a little over a mile away. The truck started vibrating violently and acting out of control. Once she got it pulled over she inspected the outside of the truck and realized there were no lug nuts on the driver rear wheel. I called them after she told me what happened and towed the truck back to the dealership. They offered her two free oil changes, repairs to the truck and a rental, but in my opinion that was not near enough seeing how they put her life at risk. My brother wrecked his car and I was helping him to get a new one. He has some personal challenges, but I stepped in and was going to help get him a car. Initially spoke to "Charlie" and stated that he needed a car via phone and I sent him up there with his trade. I told "Charlie" that if he could get a deal together to call me and I would come up tonight and sign a deal. (I was working till 6pm). Well when it was time for me to leave I haven't heard back, so I texted him and asked if he was still available. "Charlie" was working to 7 pm according to a text earlier in the day. After about 10 mins he texted me and said that he had left for the day. How do you leave a customer who is willing to purchase a car tonight and just go home. Poor, poor customer service!!!! We're not from Kannapolis area and our F-250 had shut itself down. Warning light on dash said Diesel Exhaust Fluid Sensor Error. Upon restart of engine we will be limited to 50MPH. Panicked....we weren't sure what to do, expecting to contact the Ford dealer and told that we could get the truck scheduled in days later. To our surprise, Hilbish Ford took us in immediately. They scanned the code and we were told that we needed a new sensor. They did not have the part and had to order it. They said it would be there first thing in the morning and it definitely was. The evening before the part was to arrive, we got another notice on our dashboard. It said Diesel Exhaust Fluid Sensor Error. Truck engine will now only run on idle. We drove the truck, max speed 2MPH to Hilbish, dropped it off and dropped our keys in the night drop box. Friends in the area picked us up and dropped us off where we were staying in Concord. The next morning, we called and Adrienne said they received the part and the truck was already fixed. We asked if they had a curtesy ride that could pick us up since we were now without wheels. They sent Someone over to pick us up immediately. We arrived at the garage and were presented with a bill that was way more of a reasonable cost than anticipated and we were on our way. We couldn't have been more impressed by the promptness with taking care of our predicament, the friendliness of Adrienne in service and her knowledge of what was going on with the truck, to the friendliness of the gentleman that picked us up to bring us to get our car upon its completion. Thank You Hilbish Ford for not raping us with repairs in our time of need. Great employees and operations are outstanding. I would highly recommend Hilbish Ford to everyone. read more

I have purchased several vehicles at Hilbish Ford and have them serviced there. Always been happy with the results. When it comes to New Vehicles, their prices cannot be beat. In each case when I start discussing price, the first price they came up with was WAY below their competitors and below what I was going to offer. In one case, it was on a limited edition vehicle that other dealers were adding ADM, Hilbish prices was closer to invoice than MSRP. Will not even consider another Ford Dealer for New Vehicles. Now, Used Vehicles are another story. I have never been able to deal with them on Used Vehicles. Always WAY too high on used vehicles. Ended up purchasing the used vehicles elsewhere. Still had them serviced at Hilbish. read more

First time going here. I Took my Mustang to get it serviced, now it rides so bad after the service I can't believe it is the same car. I asked for the Works Oil Change and while they may have put a new filter on and new oil in, they did not balance my tires after rotating them, and they also altered my steering wheel position to the left after performing an airbag recall. To top it off, when they "brought" my car around, the moron behind the wheel whipped it around the corner and the other cars waiting in line and slammed on the brakes in front of the shop. Obviously they don't expect paying customers to watch for their cars. I will not be coming back here again. I only return to real service shops. read more

Absolutley the most horrible experience. I am a single mom and finally after 13 years I am buying a "new" car. I found one that was in my price range and perfect. I contacted the internet person, who was the only one that was helpful in this whole experience. She did everything she said she would and was amazing. I finalized that I would pick the car up at 5 and finish that paperwork. When I finally got there (earlier than 5) she came out and extremely apologetically told me that the car was sold. One of the other sales people, not sure because she never actually spoke to me, looked at the girl I dealt with and said whats wrong? She told her my car that I had come to do paperwork on was sold from under me and the response was, yeah. The girl I dealt with said there were other cars and that we could take a look at them which I said, no, im done with this place and left. Now, I am on a budget and have looked for well over 3 months before I made a decision about a purchase so this wasn't a fly by the seat of my pants kind of thing. I was heartbroken. A good friend of mine was equally mad at the way I was treated so he called and talked to the sales manager who plainly told him that "thats just the car business" if i could leave negative stars i would. This isn't the way that people should be treated nor is it the way that a business should be run. I will find out who the owner is and I will contact him to let him or her know exactly how his reputation is being portrayed. Very knowledgeable female running the body shop has full explained everything to me and kept me in the loop. The lady that helps her is friendly but does not know much about vehicles and gets confused very easily so if you have questions you should just call the manager she always knows what's going.
