How I heard of this place: In 2018, when my in-laws were visiting, they took us out for lunch at this place they discovered near their AirBnB. What a fun find! Type of cuisine: Teriyaki and Asian/Mexican/American fusion. Ambiance: A little strip mall hole in the wall, with cute decor - toy cars lining the walls painted to resemble a highway. Run of the mill table and chairs grace the linoleum floors and space reminiscent of an upgraded fast food establishment. The toy cars were a fun addition and gave something to look at while eating. What I ordered: Chicken, Beef & Shrimp Combo Plus ($6.99), with a side of sticky rice and lettuce (salad). What I loved: All of it! The flavors were wonderful, the food comforting and the staff friendly. Why I loved it: It was a yummy meal shared by family in a new spot that we look forward to returning to - now that I remember it. Cost: Low ($5.49 - $6.99 per entree)

Decent size teriyaki restaurant. Good portion on the meat for the price I paid for. Convenient enough next to Safeway, but could be hard to find if you aren't really looking

I know this place for their teriyaki burritos and it was a popular location a years back in high school. This review focuses on the burrito highlight not the entire menu. Haven't visited in a while but came back recently for the spicy chicken teriyaki burrito. When perfect, these are heaven. When the care and love isn't there, it's obvious and reminds me of any other burrito. Comes with fried rice, chicken teriyaki, and lettuce. First thoughts back - the value has gone down, the burritos are fairly small and look like half of a burrito for around $6.50 now? Chipotle burritos might be calling if i'm thinking about comparing value. We got 3 spicy burritos, one per person. One of them was perfect, the sauce was present and evenly spread. The other two, however, lacked sauce. They had little highlights with dabbles of sauce, but other than that tasted and looked like fried rice wrapped in a tortilla. Consistency was questionable and disappointing. Being given a side of sauce to personally dip or use would be nice in scenarios like this. It is a nostalgic location and potentially a one time problem, but having not been in a while, was not the best experience. That being said, I think trying a teriyaki burrito is an experience everyone deserves as it is a beautiful blend when done right. I have no other locations to compare the combination to at the moment.

The decor of Highway Teriyaki is really interesting. Toy cars hanging from the ceiling, license plates on the walls, dozens of dirty hand prints all over the windows and piles of dirty dishes and handwritten signs stuck by the menu really stuck in my brain. Even though I dined there, my food was put in to go cartons and I saw that the same occurred with everyone else staying there. Then I saw a sign that they were hiring for a dishwasher. The chicken teriyaki that I ordered was missing the salad but I didn't bother saying anything because the gal working the counter looked really overwhelmed taking orders and passing out food. The teriyaki itself was all right but the rice seemed a couple hours old, sticking together and not hot. No sauce either on the meat. Food: 2 Service: 2 Ambiance: 1 Parking: 4

My friends suggested we come here for dinner because they wanted me to try the chicken teriyaki burrito. I was a bit skeptical because I thought it'd be an overload of rice and tortilla, but was super pleasantly surprised by how well balanced and tasty the whole thing was. The wrap was a pretty good size, difficult to finish on my own but I managed We also shared an order of gyoza, which were super crispy just the way I like. This place also has FREE egg drop soup!!! I loved that little touch and was all around really impressed.

It was light and fluffy and full of flavor. It came with a traditional cabbage salad which was very refreshing. The udon curry was right up my wife's alley, and I do like curry but I'm not the biggest udon noodle fan. It still was very full of flavor and delicious. Side note, the dressing or sauce that was in the table was let me say to die for. We put it on everything. If I had it on hand all the time it would probably be a condiment that I used on a very regular basis. The service was top notch and our server was very sweet and patient. We took awhile to look over the whole menu and there are so many things that I would come back for just to try. The only let down was the edamame as it is a staple that we usually order at any restaurant when available. They were very hot and cold and felt like it was a frozen edamame that was nuked in the microwave. The establishment itself was very modern looking with a very clean vibe. We will definitely be back. This is definitely a spot in lynnwood that needs more love from people. Then again, it could be packed all the time, but we were there very early on Mother's Day.

I hope management will read this and be convinced to make some changes. The service is okay; the only issue is that sometimes it takes a while to get someone's attention to check out, even if you press the "call waitstaff" button on the menu webpage. The atmosphere is fine, though it's a pretty small dining space so it can feel a bit claustrophobic and get quite loud during its busiest hours. My main criticisms relate to the food itself: for one, the tuna is astoundingly horrible. It's hard to describe, but it looks and tastes practically artificial; it's flavorless and somehow... dry? The white tuna option is better, but still not what I would call good. I'm not entirely convinced that it isn't actually escolar (butterfish), which is often misrepresented as being white tuna. It's disappointing that both of the tuna options are so bad, especially since those are usually my favorites. Another issue is that when you order simple sushi rolls, like just tuna/salmon rolls or the ones with avocado, they often stick a gigantic piece of the fish in them, which makes them disproportionally large and difficult to eat multiple of. I assume that's by design, since they want you to fill up faster to save money, but it really detracts from the experience. Some of the fried rolls are also made way too big and are just obnoxious to consume, so I don't order them anymore. My last main complaint is that there's really just not a lot of variety when it comes to nigiri/sashimi. Since both of the tuna options suck, that limits the options even further. I haven't seen any yellowtail options (even for rolls) in a while. If they expanded the selections more and started using better quality tuna (at least for the nigiri), I would select the gold dinner menu much more frequently. Also, please put nigiri on the gold lunch menu. PS: That bbq pork stuff in the buffet is amazing, please don't get rid of it.

We were craving some something warm and since this one was the closest in the area and one of the only places that has ramen, we decided to give it a try. We ordered the Red Volcano Tonkotsu And Tonkotsu Ramen. The ramen noodle itself was good and chewy. Egg was perfectly cooked with yolk on the inside and well marinated on the outside. We thought the broth was okay, it needed more flavor and it didn't really taste like authentic Japanese ramen to us. The red volcano was very very spicy, I do not recommend if you cannot handle spice, I really thought it was just a kick of spice before ordering but it was actually very spicy that it was almost impossible to enjoy the broth. The regular tonkotsu was lighter in flavor. Both ramen dishes had this pickled vegetable and bok choy in there which is not like traditional Japanese ramen but we didn't mind the extra crunch. You can literally see the quality at the sushi bar, with beautifully cut fish displayed right in front of you. It immediately builds trust and anticipation. I ordered a mix of items, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. The crispy rolls we had were perfectly balanced, with a light crunch on the outside and very fresh, flavorful fish on top. The textures were just right, not greasy, not heavy, just clean and satisfying. The crab tempura roll was also excellent, with a nice crispiness and generous portions. One of my favorite parts was how vibrant everything looked. The colors, the plating, the little details like the garnish and sauce all showed care and attention. It did not feel like standard sushi you can get anywhere, it felt curated. The menu itself is also really interesting. There are classic options, but also more elevated dishes like uni, toro selections, and specialty items that make the experience feel a bit more premium without being intimidating. You can go simple or explore more refined flavors depending on your mood. Service was smooth and pleasant. Nothing felt rushed, and everything came at a good pace. It made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, this is definitely a spot I would come back to. It hits that perfect balance between quality, atmosphere, and price.
