We went for lunch one day and back for breakfast the next. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. If you are looking for sophistication or gourmet, you might go back to Dallas. Frank's reminded me of small town diners I've known all my life. Their key lime pie and peach cobbler were fabulous.

The place was packed, service was fairly quick. CFS tenders…read morewere way over breaded and slightly under cooked. Where the breading touches the meat, the breading was still slightly doughy. Outside of the breading looked perfect, meat within was cooked well and good cuts of meat. The fries were similar to Watsons, only not cooked long enough, few had any crunch at all, most were soft and undercooked w/ less salt than what one would get at Watsons. Taste on everything was on point though, once you pulled half the breading off the fingers. No bad grease smell or taste on the food at all. My co-workers had the cheeseburger & fries. The fries were the same as mine, undercooked, but the burgers looked awesome and given a 9.8 & 9.5 out of 10. For the price it's not a bad place to eat, though 12:15 on a Wednesday is probably not the best time to go. I'm hoping this was a one off on the finger & fries, but I'll give it another go and update later.

This place knows how to do to Texas BBQ plain and simple. They provide some staple BBQ options like…read morebrisket and pulled pork, while also featuring more unique offerings like turkey and brisket-wurst. The turkey and brisket are standouts. They hold strong without additions like sauce, but also take on a new unique flavor profile from their in house gravy and BBQ sauce. Both the turkey and brisket are juicy and tender. The smoky flavor of the brisket is truly outstanding. The brisket-wurst sandwich is worth it to get even if you intend to get sausage and brisket. It really has it's own flavor profile altogether that is another standout. As a KC BBQ woman myself, I did love the pulled pork and it's addition on the menu. The ribs were also stellar. I don't tend to gravitate towards ribs and these really stood out. Back to the sauces above, the gravy is a unique, regional feature that enhance already tender turkey-and honestly goes great on everything and anything. The in house BBQ sauce can compete with even some of the best sauces where BBQ sauce is more popular. The sides stand strong alongside the featured meat. Some individual favorites of mine include the brisket and beans and the jalapeno cornbread (highly recommend a bite of the cornbread, pulled pork, BBQ sauce, and a homemade jalapeno). Take the time to check this place out. It is evident the team puts a lot of time and effort into perfecting their recipes. There are no wrong decisions here. Find the opportunity to try everything on the menu-it will be worth it.
