Nice cabins! This place is huge! They have Cabins and Cottages. For between $70 - $90 per day (Off Season) you can enjoy a relaxing stay at the lake. Add about $20 more per day for In Season rates. The Cabins are freestanding structures were there is nothing attached to it and there is a few hundred feet in between each unit. The Cottages are more like a Duplex home, were you have two units attached together. I prefer the Cabins so you do not have to be concerned about the noise level. We came out here to celebrate our first Thanksgiving Day together and apparently do some fishing too. :) We visited several of the parks in the area including Yellowjacket and the Georgia Park and Wildlife Reserves. West Point Lake is and has always been beautiful retreat for me. The Marina is nestled between several homes and is now not far from the hustle and bustle feel of a big city. So if you are like me then you can feel like you are out of the country with a short 10 minute drive. Exiting the Resort at night I was surprised and pleased to see several deer. My BF was so tempted to get out and shoot one or all ten. But I saved Bambi's life by not stopping for me. :) We had a great time, from the young lady that help us check in and get supplies, to the friendly dogs, and even the young lady that brought us extra towels. This place is big on customer service and we appreciated their kindness. I suggest that you give the Marina a try. I am so happy to finally see Sunset Grill at Highland Marina being run by someone who cares. We had dinner there this past Saturday evening. I had the ribeye and my husband had the filet. Both were cooked to perfection, and the sides were absolutely perfect as well. Since this meal was so good we decided to try lunch the next day. Again, we weren't disappointed. Nick, the manager, came over to the table and introduced himself. Not only is he a great new fresh face to be running the Sunset Grill, he has put a lot of heart and soul into making this a real restaurant, FINALLY. Our server on both occasions, Cheyenne was also wonderful. Very pleasant and knowledgeable. If there was something she didn't know she didn't hesitate to get the answers for us. In addition to upgrading to a restaurant with service, they have created a unique bar, made out of a boat to go with the wonderful scenes from every seat of West Point Lake. They have TV's both in the restaurant and on the deck, where come this summer I know will be filled with not only boaters but people driving to the restaurant as well. There is dockage if you want to come by boat and plenty of parking as well. In addition to being boaters, we only live 5 minutes away. To say that we are very excited to have the Sunset Grill open and be so good is an understatement. We're looking forward to bringing friends and family to the new Sunset Grill. Seen some negative reviews on here but really can't see the issues. We've been making the Highland Marina our home away from home for years now, and just experienced the amazing 1BR cabins for the first time. These digs are lakeside swank, impeccably decorated (there was even a large mouth bass showerhead in the one we stayed in!), and they rank up there with any 3-star hotel you'd pay WAY more for, without the lakeside views, without the beach and restaurant. Really, I can't think of any reason to stay anywhere else in the area. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating, and we've had a peek at the larger chalets and cabins for rent too...DECKED OUT lakeside luxury. There are pontoon and fishing boats for rent to explore the lake if you don't have your own boat, but if you do there are private docks by the cabins to use for your stay. If you're travelling through, the campground is one of the best I've seen in 7 years of RV life, close to the lake, newly renovated bathrooms, nestled in a natural Georgia Pine forest. My family and I rented a boat a week ahead of time and upon arrival the marina failed to provide a boat for us. Our reservation was confirmed, reminded a day ahead by the marina and even after a late arrival for the reservation time we didn't get a courtesy call to advise of the situation. The employee stated that another customer rented our boat for two days instead of one. You're telling me they only have one boat for rent? On top of this ridiculous hassle and waste of time I have to wait a week for my $500 refund! Rented a pontoon boat for a Sunday trip out on the water. After reading reviews, I was expecting a less than stellar experience, however, it was fine. Boat was ready to go when we arrived, but I did pre-pay for a bag of ice that I didn't receive. The boats are older and used, split seats / cushions, no working radio or horn, but I knew that would be the case in advance after reading reviews. Boat worked fine - we had a great time. It's just time to maybe invest in some new seat cushions and get the radios and horns working again. read more

I found this place on a last minute trip simply because I wanted a quiet, lakeside stay while visiting Atlanta. The accommodations were nice, but the service was very wuestionable... We arrived just after five to find the office closed. The website and phone auto attendant stated their hours indicating thy would still be open. I asked for a call back but eventually found the "late arrival" box. Never got a follow-up to verify we were good, which would be expected for the price$$$$$ they charge... That same night we found a fire detector was chirping due to low battery. I called that night and informed the house cleaning staff the next morning. I heard no response from anyone during our entire stay, the alarm was still chirping when we left... The setting and cabins were wonderful, the price$$$ were much, but when comparing the price$$$ with the service, my conscience won't agree to pay this much again. I will be debating coming back again... read more

The pontoon was not ready when we got there at 9. Our reservations had been placed earlier that week. The place was not even open. The pontoon had spider webs on it, and there were problems with the engine. We had to work on the battery just to get it started! Each time we stopped, we had to keep worry on it to get it started. It was pontoon #59. We asked for another one,but the representative stated that the others were for 'members only'. This was not told to us when we booked it earlier in the week. The customer service was terrible! We will NEVER visit this place again. The cabin was terrible and dirty. Don't waste your money! Be warned. read more

So our family booked 2021 June to reserve two dockside cabins fully paid for and end up having a family emergency where emergency surgery was needed. Due to the severity of the situation considering brain surgery recovery time, the manager at the time gave us credit rather than a refund and said we had two years to use the credit. Since then the new owners have taken over and decided that they will not honor the credit of the business that they purchased. NOWHERE IN OUR PAPERWORK DOES IT STATE THAT THE CREDIT IS ONLY GOOD FOR ONE YEAR. The sum of the reservation was just about three grand and we have come to learn that we are no longer eligible to use our credit because of the new owners/management company. The resolution they came to was that we rebook, spend another 3 grand more on what we have already purchased and they would ever so graciously credit us one night per cabin. UNACCEPTABLE. WE WILL BE FORWARDING THIS TO THE GEORGIA CONSUMER PROTECTION BUREAU. WORD OF ADVICE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS RESORT. Horrible campground at this marina! Don't stay here. Dirty bathrooms and bathhouse. Muddy non gravel site assigned to us, 117. No water hookup. We had to get water from the unoccupied site next to us. The Sye next to us had a power pole but it was laying broken on the ground. No 30 amp hookup. Just so happens we had a converter or we would have been out of luck. Buzzards/vultures everywhere. Stay cats roaming everywhere. Hooch Hideaway, a seedy bar, across a small cove from the campground cranked up their very loud music about 7:00 pm (Friday night) and didn't quit until 2:00 am. Impossible to sleep! We rented the site for 2 nights but left after only one night. 2 sleepless nights are more than we can endure! Don't stay here! read more

A friend of mine booked the 3 bedroom dockside cabin for her husbands birthday. Upon arrival opening the door your hit with a smell of mildew water and stink. The tv never worked and maintenance made several attempts. The toilets were backing up constantly. The plunger fell apart 1/2 way into the beginning of unclogging the first toilet to go down. My husband and I were going to stay but decided against it as I was afraid to take my flip flops off for any reason so we drove home. The back door had thousands of dead flies from a fly trap just piled on the ground where they empty it so the smell from the back patio was something you had to run through to get to the dock and lake! If you opened the back door it came rushing in and smelled the entire kitchen of dead flies! This was cabin 32 and I can imagine they all have been untouched for years! Fridge covered in rust, burnt bulb so you can't see where you put anything, bathroom door was busted wouldn't close and shut. I could keep going on and on! If you can go anywhere else or can walk your cabin before booking I highly recommend it! read more

Absolute waste of time and money! My family and I rented pontoon boat #57 today and to put it mildly - we got screwed. The seats were mildewed, so were the life jackets, the horn did not work, the radio did not work and the ladder too unsteady to use. We discovered that the problem with the ladder is that it is bolted into wood that has completely rotted. So we were not able to get out of the boat and into the water at all because there was no way climb back in. To top it all off, we had to bring the boat back almost 3 hours early because the transmission was acting up and we didn't want to get stranded out in the middle of the lake. If we had gotten stuck we'd have had no way to radio the marina as the two-way radio was also not working. We told all of this to the person working the marina desk and the only response was 'oh sorry, have a nice day.' I will NEVER go to this marina again. You shouldn't waste your time or hard earned money either. read more

While pulling off from the dock the young girl said oh yeah you don't have an anchor on there. We're out of anchors. That made it a little hard to fish, which was our whole objective. read more

If I could leave a zero I would! I rented a 3 bedroom dockside cabin for my husbands birthday weekend. I paid over $600 for 2 nights here. The unit was absolutely DISGUSTING! The floors and carpet were sticky! All the dishes, appliances, counter tops were dirty. WE COULD NOT SHOWER, FLUSH THE TOILETS, OR WASH DISHES! We had to plunge all facilities every time we used it. The beds are so worn out you roll in the middle of the bed. The TV and WiFi did not work. The deck is so rotten someone is going to fall through any minute! They had a fly bag on the deck with 1000's of dead flies laying on the deck. The stench was so incredibly bad you had to hold your breath to get down to the dock. The fridge was rusted and barely cold! When I raised these concerns to the desk her nonchalant attitude was despicable. She said she would let her manager know but refused to provide his contact information to me. I invited several couples to join us this weekend but when they arrived they were so disgusted they would not stay. I was completely embarrassed! I would never recommend these cabins to anyone!!!! read more

We rented a pontoon boat from this marina. Marina employee checked in our boat and said we were good to go. Charged my credit card for $200 for damages a couple days later. Damages were news to me and any everyone else in our group of friends traveling to the boat that day. Be careful when renting from this marina. Had the chance to visit Highland on my fishing trip to GA. I rate this place 5 stars beacause of the great service and accommodations. The fishing on this lake is some of the best in the south, and marina tackle shop set me up with everything I needed! The next morning, I went to the office to pay the balance of bill which was $1007.64 after a $200 deposit. The young 'manager' said he would use the credit card on file.A couple of days later, I was checking my credit card statement and saw that I was charged $1696.64. Upon confronting the 'manager', he said there was a mistake. Even after looking at the confirmation letter that was a month old, he still refused to refund the balance. I disputed the difference in the amounts to my credit card company and was credited the difference. read more

We rented a boat from them, rental process was quick, and so was the return process. Overall we felt like we got a good value out of our half day pontoon boat rental. Don't forget to ask for an Anchor. They do not include one by default, and we have been screwed in the past at another lake when it was windy. read more

We planned a little weekend family reunion at the marina. We reserved 4 cabins; 2-one bedroom, one 2-bedroom, and 1 three-bedroom. We reserved a 16 passenger boat for Saturday and 2 pavilions for Saturday as well. Check-in was simple and the staff was nice. The two-bedroom and three-bedroom cabins were okay, except the outsides were gross. However, the one-bedroom cabins were atrocious for about $150 a night. The outside of the cabins don't appear to ever be cleaned; dirty windows, dead bugs being feasted on, tons of spiders and cobwebs. The closet in our cabin was filled with little spiders and the shower floor felt like it would fall in at any minute. The beds were uncomfortable, and the bed in the bedroom was actually short-sheeted! The boat they tried to put us on was filthy and wreaked of gasoline. When we expressed dissatisfaction, they did not upgrade us or do anything to get us on another boat. We asked for a refund. The pavilions were trashed from the people who reserved it a week prior, so we decided to relocate our family gathering and asked for a refund for that too. Overall, we were disappointed. For the amount of money spent, we could've stayed at a nearby hotel and it would've been cleaner and more comfortable. We will definitely not be returning. read more

Had reserved a Campsite for our new 5th wheel in November of 2016 for the entire summer of 2017. That site was given away to someone else and we had to move to another that did not have sewer hookup. Ms. Sam, the manager, told me not to worry that they will pump me out once a week at no charge. During our 2 months there the pump out pump broke 3 different times, one time where we went 2 weeks and the black tank was full. Since we live 60 miles away we had to go home. Sam stated that she would call us once the pump was repaired. We left on a Friday and returned on the following Tuesday with no call. We found that the pump was fixed that Friday yet no call to inform us. The shore power was atrocious. 50 Amp hook up with only one A/C on and my power monitor shut power down for minimum of 6 times to maximum of 22 times a day. Told Sam that the power was screwed up and if she would call the power company i would explain what was going on. After a week with power still shutting off, High on one leg of 137 volts with low on other leg of 101 volts, i called the power company to see what was being done. The response from the dispatch was there has not been a complaint call from them in last several months. Power company came right out after i called and isolated the problem to the power pole at my site. Told mtce and still was not fixed when we left. I had to sign a rules sheet when we checked in. 1) no golf carts, ATVs for longer than 3 days, there were several in campground for the 2 months we stayed. 2) Only 1 vehicle per site parked there. Most sites had 2 and the one across from us had from 4 - 10 depending on if weekend. 3) Campsite must be free of clutter at all times. One site had 3 blue tarps extended out over a dog fence that was approx. 12' x 30'. Dog houses inside, just filthy. 4) Pets must be on leash at all times. This is a joke. Our dogs were inside or on a leash at all times while several others ran wild and crapped on others sites all the time. 5) NO CAMPFIRES, NO BONFIRES, NO EXCEPTIONS. We ended up leaving due to the pump out issue and a camper across from us, near lakeside, who would start a fire at 6 AM and would let burn out around midnight. Burned not just wood but trash also. If you know what Styrofoam and plastic smells like when burning you know how that smelled. I asked Sam about this and she states that as long as its in a fire pit it was ok. I told her it was on the ground and they were burning garbage. She states that she drove by that morning and checked and saw that it was in a pit. I saw her drive by and she could not see unless she got out of her car which she did not. We had a slip for our boat at the cost of $195 a month with a $195 deposit. I have been out for a month now and keep getting excuses as to why i have not gotten my $195 back. First was told that the rate is actually $235 a month so that difference will be taken out of deposit, then i was told that Sam gave it to Chris, the owner, who said we owed her money because we checked out early on the RV site, which we did not, we went from 5/8 to 7/8 and paid for 2 full months. On 7/27 Sam told me that I would be credited $185.36 within a couple of days. It is now 8/9 and yet to see anything. I was down at the docks and saw that they were out of minnows. I went into the store to get drinks for my Grandkids and asked the attendant when they usually get minnows. Dont know the ladies name but she had Gray/blond hair down past her shoulder. She replied "they will be here when they get here". Big sign on the beach that states you must be a registered guest to use the beach, No bottles allowed. When we were there most of the people i spoke with were from LaGrange and just came out to use the beach, and by the way drink with glass bottles.The campsites are not level and most are not full hook up. I was told to dump my grey water on the ground since they will not pump it out. Totally neglected campground. The only people that treated us like customers were the 2 young ladies, Mary (who is not there anymore) and Keith the maintenance guy. read more

Haven't been to West Point Lake in a few years and was planning to go fishing this weekend. Called to ask about ramp fee because I heard there had been some changes. The lady who answered the phone was nice enough but had no answers. After putting me on hold to ask the "manager" how much the ramp fee was, she came back and said seventy something dollars for an annual pass. I asked if there was a daily fee because I may only go there one or two times a year so she put me on hold again. Her reply was "he said there are twenty other places to put your boat in use one of them. He was right and I will. I also just booked a cabin at Southern Harbor for a week later this year because their are other places to stay on the lake also. Heard bad things about this place but reserved judgement untill now. Don't care how nice the rooms may be, I wouldn't spend a dime with anyone with such a bad attitude to customers. read more
