I have never written a negative review before, as I generally believe most people are trying their…read morebest. Unfortunately, my experience with Village Vet Hampstead put my dog's wellbeing at risk due to a lack of organization and poor clinical follow-through. I attended this clinic despite seeing several negative reviews, hoping my experience would be different. Unfortunately, those reviews proved accurate. I provided Village Vet with my dog's full clinical history from the US. Despite this, they refused to prescribe the medication she needed to treat an active UTI until lab results returned, assuring me the results would take 24-28 hours. Three days passed with no communication. I went into the clinic in person and was told at reception that they would follow up with the lab and contact me. I still heard nothing. I returned again the following day. At that point, I still had no answers about her cultures and no medication was provided--yet I was charged £150 for the culture + £70 consultation fee regardless. The lack of urgency, communication, and accountability was deeply concerning, particularly given that this involved an untreated infection. I am sharing this review to help other pet owners avoid a similar experience. For comparison, Highgate Veterinary Clinic was an excellent alternative. The vet was compassionate, thorough, and spent approximately 45 minutes with me and my dog to ensure she fully understood her condition and treatment needs. They are independently run, which may account for the clear difference in care.

Village Vet - Highgate - After the surgery...a still drowsy Málaga

Luckily, we got an appointment right away - really enjoy their online booking system - and the next day, Málaga underwent emergency surgery: turns out she'd developed pyometra since her last time being in heat. (Pyometra = an infection of the uterus that causes it to fill with bacteria and pus) Dr Esther Kim, the vet, was great and we felt very much well taken care of the entire time. Thank you so much for taking care of us!

In my haste i forgot my phone (with Apple Pay) so i asked them to let me pay for the pain killer over the phone when i got home. They refused as they said they do not give "credit". The medicine was £30 (£3.59 on line). We are a member of the practise and are on their health plan so they have all my details. I even offered to leave my very valuable watch as surety! They were prepared to let my dog go home while whimpering in pain in order not to give "credit" for what can be bought for under £4 for the 20 mins it would take me to get home. (It was too late to go home and come back again that day ). When i questioned this , i was told that it was my fault i forgot my phone and it was unacceptable that i was making my dog's suffering their responsability. I know that there are a lot of complaints about the greed of these vet chains and Village Vet are amongst the most guilty here, but the lack of care and human kindness is a whole other story. I have obviously left the practise now. I could not have anyone look after my dog who has so little care for animals and so little kindness. The reception was empty otherwise i am sure a stranger would have offered to cover me as i would if i were to witness this. Not many people would be able to watch a dog suffer unnecessarily, but Village Vet did not seem to mind at all.

They've looked after our dog Bubu for years, and we'd be lost without them. After moving to Southampton, we tried other vets and realised how rare it is to find people like them. Too many seemed focused on money, not the animal. Dale and Margaret are the opposite. They genuinely care, give honest advice, and never suggest anything unnecessary. Even now, we travel back to London for Bubu's care because no one else comes close. They're the kind of vets every pet owner hopes to find.

So far, so good…read more.. I found this veterinary practice on Yelp based on an older review, and hoped that all the facts still rung true. My luck (and Tillie's!) they certainly did. My pup is getting on in years, and that comes with its own set of challenges. I wanted to have her throughly checked out to make sure nothing was terribly amiss before we left on a long trip. I easily and quickly made an appointment with the very polite receptionist and was booked in for a Friday evening appointment. We arrived rain-soaked to a happy, warm office full of the vet's own pooches. We were greeted warmly, seen quickly and the good doctor gave her a once over and sent me home with instructions to collect a urine sample (I had my husband do that job, thankyouverymuch) and return the following day to have it tested for any irregularities, etc. Dutiful dog dad did just this, walked it back over, paid £20 for the test, and they called us later that day with the results: your dog is old and her kidneys are slow, but she isn't in any pain or distress. Well, all good...best case scenario and we now take many trips outside to use "the loo" to accommodate the kidney-deficient canine. Big plus: the initial exam and registration appointment is free of charge. I had no idea this was true...but what a great way to be introduced to a practice. I'll surely be back. Very friendly folks that won't try to upsell you and leave you bankrupt. Practical solutions for your pets.

This was over £1000 more and when we queried this were told we had to talk to a vet. For this 15 minute phone call with a vet we were charged £364. When we complained we were advised this is cost of the vet consultation and threatened with debt collectors. Needless to say, we travelled the 2 hours to the much more helpful and reasonable oncology specialists.
